Need to find place to click some amazing pictures. \nNot allowed inside the temple is a big disappointment. (2) This was the photo in the Air Asia in-flight magazine that made me want to go to Bali. This temple is in a mountain lake and the photos are wonderful. There is a restaurant with a buffet and many tourist and snack shops. Try some of the local snacks. They were like cassava chips and there was also a peanut snack. (3) We travelled by hired car to the area. Despite many tourists in the vicinity, I must say we really enjoyed ourselves when we got to walk around along the shoreline. To see the tide completely isolate the temple from us was simply magical! (4) The place is nice ok but there are many other places all over the world with sunsets! They asked donation and to give us \a wish\" with a specific water so as we can get to the temple on the rock and then we saw that the temple was closed! This is just a way to get donations from tourists! In my oppinion just get there cause is one from the most famous attractions. Nothing more" (5) this is a wonderful temple that is justly famous ,however it took me a very long car trip on extremely conjested roads to get there from Sanur which is actually not far away. Once there there is an entrance fee and hundreds of stalls to pass through before getting onto the terraces overlooking the ocean and the possibility of walking down toward the temple on the rock. It is considered a sacred site of great significance despite the hundreds of tourists and as such reminds me of large temples in India and the great cathedrals of Europe that welcome both cultural tourists and the devout. One day I would like to stay nearby and visit in the early morning before the tour buses arrive. (6) This was my second trip here. The first was 10 years ago. \nThe Temple hadn’t changed, obviously but wow the commercial surrounds have. \n60k per person to enter. \nThat aside if you haven’t been then it’s a must see when in Bali. \nSeeing millions of bats fly out of the cave just after sunset was a highlight (7) This is a very dramatic view. The temple is on top of a rocky outcrop just separated from the main beach by a short distance. We went during the middle of the day and were able to wade out to the base of the temple. Judging from the high tide mark this is not possible all the time. You can also get civet coffee at the stalls on the way here if you are brave - we played conservative. (8) Very beautiful temple and excellent setting! What else need to be said about it? Although it is a long journey from South Bali, but the journey itself is nice, since you can see nice scenery along the way. There was an on going ceremony during my visit. Tips. if you intend to go to Singaraja/Lovina, the temple is in the middle of the main road between south to north Bali. (9) There is an entrance fee to visit this temple. If you are wearing shorts, they provide you with a sarong that you can use to enter this place. Great view from the temple on either side. (10) The location is stunning. No doubt about it. \nWe were lucky enough to have lowtide and could walk around. Late in the day again meant everyone turned up for the sunset. So many people cherish this time of the day and the temples viewpoint of the sun setting over the ocean. I like to go for the temple itself so I found the crowds (and I mean crowds!!) and trying to find space to walk and see - frustrating. \nIt is very tourist driven, with loads of markets heading into the area, and equally just as much rubbish lying around within the grounds. Saw the snake cave area - you pay to view, and the holy water area. Don't quite know where I sit on this due to the disrespect with rubbish. \nI found it quite disappointing that whilst the locations of all the temples are stunning and brilliant - we pay to go and see but where is the upkeep of these religious areas? Are the tourists interested in the temples or is it just the sunset view over the ocean that has everyone flocking??? If you want to avoid and see the area in somewhat quieter times, go earlier in the day. For some reason, our guides always took us in the late evenings - obviously a sunset thing. But I live on an island, I can see sunset over water and rise over water. Whilst it was beautiful, it would have been more so without a 1000 other people lobbying for a spot to do so too. So decide what it is you really want to see and pick the time of day that best suits that :) (11) you must come to this temple best view for perspective\n\t\nbest to take picture for you and your friend. go there !!! (12) I came here, via private driver, on a Monday in mid-December 2022. There is a fee to enter and to use the restroom. Entrance was 75,000Rp and the restroom was 2,000Rp.\n\nThe grounds was pretty big with a beautiful garden. Don't miss the floating Hindu Temple. We came during their harvest festival so everything was decorated beautifully. \n\nThere are restaurants inside, a playground for kids, as well as boat/water activity rentals. The lawns were beautifully manicured. Definitely worth a trip out her to visit. (13) We went during high tide, so we got a bit wet crossing the water to the temple. At the entrance you pay a \donation\", where they'll quickly bless you and allow you to step around the corner. You can't go up very far though. Other than the temple there's not much else other than market stalls, but there's some great photo opportunities here." (14) Loved this place, the temple is out on the sea, you can not actually go into the temple but do not let this put you off from visiting, the temple looks stunning when out int he sea and you can walk in the sea to get to a prayer area of the temple where you can get a blessing, be mindful off the tide as it does come up, there are guides who will walk you over for a fee, negotiable fee but all these guides tend to stick to same price. Happy Travels. (15) They charge you for everything....to pee,too go up thr rock,to watch the cliff...everything..besides that its a nice place compared to the rest... (16) If you can only see one temple in Bali, this would be it. Big cultural park that has many things to offer and lovely sights. Entrance to see the temple is allowed unlike most of the other temple attraction in Bali. (17) Loved the sea and waves surrounding this beautiful temple. Yes there are lots of people but it’s a lovely attraction to see. You need to walk down passed lots of souvenir shops which I loved and it would be a great place just to go for the shopping as it was less busy than the ubud market and cheaper. I enjoyed this temple the best because the wind and ocean view gave some respite from the heat. Sunset is the best time to go (18) was a great walk around seeing the 3 temple spots and great views out into the ocean make sure you arrive about 4/5ish and stay for the sunset a real nice end to another great day in Bali (19) It's a must-visit place during your visit to Bali. One of the most beautiful Hindu temples i have seen. It has a serene and calm effect. Off course it will be crowded as it attracts many tourists. (20) WOW! A small entrance charge to such an amazing sight. We drove passed this attraction during weekend, and it was choked with people. We carried on driving.\n\nThe next day was tried again and were plesently surprised at how little people were visiting the temple. We enjoyed every minute of our time inside especially since we were not fighting the crowds for access and the perfect photo shot. \n\nTruly an amazing experience! (21) Be prepared to walk through a highly commercialized tourist trap before getting to the grounds of the temple itself. But once you do, the magic begins. Stunning doesn't do justice to the the temple. The site is magical. If you get there at low tide you can walk out to it. Sadly we weren't there at sunset, which is supposed to be spectacular. (22) Breath taking view here.. if you are lucky, you get to visit the temple. We arrived around 2.30pm. Weather was great, strong wind, big wave. Still on a low tide, so we get to cross the sea to the temple. Nothing much to do except enjoy the view. There are shops outside the temple area. So you can go shopping. But you need to negotiate tho. (23) This was the first temple I visited on Bali. What a stunning place. We paid 60.000 rupiah to enter which to be honest was so worth it. The views are stunning. I didn't get to see the temple at sunset but I was lucky to go with low tide. Which allowed me to walk down to the rocks. There's many souvenir shops and restaurants. Give at least 2 hours to enjoy the walk and the views . A must see in bali. (24) It's a sacred Hindu temple, but if the sea is rising you cannot reach the temple and touch the holy snake or get the holy water, but you still can enjoy the temple view from a distance, the temple park and surrounding also a great view and it has an art market too. (25) We visited the Temple and surrounding area and it is well worth a visit.\nA very interesting place to visit.\nEntry fee 60,000 IRp. (26) We decided to visit this temple, as its location has been chosen by the same priest who erected Ulu Watu - another stunning temple. The trip was rewarding - although we had a thunderstorm coming (see photos), and maybe because of that, the place looked completely different from what we saw earlier on adv photos - with a stunning, gloomy outlook :-)\nWas worth the effort to get there :-)\nAnd for those curious - no, we didn't make it dry to the car :-D (27) On the day that we were at the temple, there was a funeral. It was magical.\n\nThe temple and lake on there own are well with a visit, but the wonderful procession for the funeral was beautiful. Gardens are very well looked after. There are areas within the temple which have no admittance to tourists, this allows for people to pray without being watched all the time.\n\nOnly thing that I did not like were the deer and other animals, which are kept as pets in the temple gardens. There is insufficient space in the pens for them. (28) This is one of the must visit places in Bali for the views and atmosphere. The hills surrounding the lake offers very good view. The temple and the surrounding park area is very good to just sit relax. Fresh air and scenic views make this a very special place to visit. (29) It feels like a temple on the edge of the earth, it is really beautiful and there were not many tourists when we visited. The water below is crystal clear & we got to watch massive turtles swimming in the bay below. Be ware lots of monkeys in this area so hold onto your belongings. (30) This temple & it's grounds is very pretty IF you can stand the crowds. GO EARLY in the morning! AVOID the weekends AND holidays! When I went it was the afternoon. I walked there from the Candikuning market. It takes about 20”. Still, with the crowds it was okay. Check out the assemblage in the photos, man. (31) Lovely views, there was a bit of cloud in the sky which made the Temple and Lake Bratan look even more beautiful. (32) This was part of our itinerary as we had seen beautiful photos of this place. When we arrived, we were greeted with cool weather with the temple in the lake. There are a few other temples within the compound of this temple. We also liked that the gardens were clean & seats were provided at some places. To enter the bathroom, a charge of 2000 Rupiah is required, however, the bathrooms were clean & a bidet is provided. We arrived early & could get some good photos. We loved this place & its best to come early. (33) The stands tall in the ocean.. The sunset making it ever so magnificent.. It just is a great visit.. One shouldn't miss.. It has many many things to appreciate.. With changing light, the temple gives a different feeling while watching it as the waves beat down upon it.. (34) We visited around midday and unfortunately the tide was in when we were there, so we couldn't walk out to the temple on the island. But the views are great and there's actually some cool views on the way to temples as well! (35) This is a very beautiful temple with lots of visitors, I mean really lots of visitors so keep in mind you'll need a little patience to wonder around and find the best spots to appreciate the local culture and religion. (36) If you can only see one temple in Bali, this would be it. Big cultural park that has many things to offer and lovely sights. Entrance to see the temple is allowed unlike most of the other temple attraction in Bali. (37) We visited the temple in a rainy noon. Fortunately, it stopped raining and the sky getting clear. This place made me feel peaceful because of the lake. I recommend this place as a must in Ubud. (38) Nice cliffs, but nothing special regarding the temple to see. Believe it is overrate by the travel agents and etc. (39) Amazing place, don't forget to carry sunscreen as it is all open.. There is a lot of places to shop from and to eat at Outside the temple. Don't forget to bargain thier.. The temple in itself is beautiful, go to the restaurant at the right side of the temple instead of standing at the left with all the crowd.. Book urself a table and have a Lil something to eat while you enjoy ur romantic sunset. (40) We were staying very near the temple so we went a couple of times, once at low tide for sunset and it was teeming, swarms and swarms of tourists with nowhere to stand. We ended up on the terrace above the temple where there are some cafes and it was much better there. We also went at high tide in the morning, and actually found that much nicer and more relaxing, it's quite impressive when you see it out in the water. However, overall if I'd come here on a tour having driven for more than an hour, I'd be very disappointed. (41) Very beautiful destination to visit but just prayed on tourists. There’s restaurants and ice cream shops all over the place which kind of takes away the beauty and natural feel to this place. I understand that Balinese people are going to make the most of tourists here, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting. \nYou are charged for everything, parking/photos/toilets etc. \nWe didn’t do the walk down to the beach as it was too busy. But looked beautiful. \nWe watched manta rays from the cliff which was amazing. (42) Spent a lovely afternoon wandering the grounds of this temple. There is much to do whilst there; restaurants, shopping etc. And I might add, some of the best prices we came across. We were not able to enter the Temple itself as the tide was in but took lots of photos. There are professional photographers available there also. Be prepared to encounter 100's of tourists whilst here and if you stay for sunset, a traffic jam on the way out. Definitely worth a visit, sunset is meant to be the best time. (43) Absolutely magnificent architecture and surroundings \n\nYes it’s full of tourists so be prepared you will not be alone! \n\nMassive attraction for when the sun sets!\n\nGo up to the top cafes to watch and coffee and eat (good prices) \n\nNot allowed in temple itself but around it at LOW tide - lots of walking but it’s ok\n\nFreshwater fountain at base of temple where priests let you be blessed\n\nBeautiful trip but be patient lots of people and tonnes of side street markets (44) You may feel disappointed after traveling there for an hour or two. The issue is that you can't see the temple properly - it hidden by the trees, you can't go inside (at least during regular hours), there are too many people around. The seacoast itself is nice and the seaside view, but there are many more nice beaches with fewer people, a calm atmosphere and free admission. (45) For 30000 rupees you can visit the temple and the surrounding cliffs. The location is impressive and you can hear the huge waves hitting the cliffs. Although it's off season the temple area was very crowded since there was a religious celebration going during the day I went there. Unfortunately so me areas of the temple very closed for tourists due to the local celebrations (46) We went here on a very hot day and lots of tourists everywhere. Its spectacular everywhere you look, it was high tide so couldn't walk across to the main temple. The grounds are beautiful ,the drive there was lovely as well. (47) We visited this place with my husband and we love it, traditional clothes are provided, beautiful landscape. You can actually get a local who will charge $50 for a day trip and will take you to different places including this temple. Make sure that this place is included. Take pictures with the monkeys and the view from there is amazing. (48) There are many temples in Bali. This temple was constructed in s tiny place that can only be acessed in low tide. \nThe place is wonderful but kmpossible to photograph because of the huge amount of people speaking loud, eating, spoiling the peaceful atmosphere this place would have.\nWorth a visit! (49) The view from this temple is breathtaking! Worth the long journey. We spent a couple of hours here, as there was lots of photo opportunities . For those who like to shop, the souvenirs and tees were cheaper compared to the outlets in the city. (50) Unfortunately we didn't see the temple at sunset, when it says it's prettiest. It was still impressive during the day. The beach however, surrounding the temple is a little dirty.\n\nWhat I loved the most was the surrounding streets and shops. The bougainvillea lined street down to the temple offers plenty of shopping choices. The prices are more reasonable than Kuta etc. and the shop owners weren't quite as 'pushy' as other areas. (51) This is such an amazing place to visit with amazing scenery and views. A lot of people seem to complain that there is no access to the temple, but it is understandable as thousand of people visit this place and it would deteriorate in no time. Apart from that, it is a religious temple, not a museum.\n\nYou can get right to the base of the temple and once blessed by the holy water from the fountain beneath the temple, you can go up the base of the temple and view the area from a different angle.\n\nIt is a truly amazing place to visit. (52) We went there for the sunset and it was just too crowded to walk.. people are trying to take pictures everywhere no matter what and it gets annoying. Otherwise the temple is amazing and it is a must when you are in bali.. also a long road to the temple through sales people who would like to sell you everything possible (53) It's mix feelings form my view point. You can take pictures of sunset and sea view with arch then again from the above and even can't enter to the temple due to water level is high the period of we visited. It's full of tourists and lots of shops with many Balinese sourniers. \nWorth of visit if you are surrounded. (54) One of the better tourist sites, for exactly the above reason, as well as being picturesque and almost etheral when the mist is on the lake. How much is able to be seen depends entirely on how much mist there is, and this is unpredictable - so you may be lucky and see lots, or you may not. Either way, lovely landscape and gardens, and refreshingly you dont have to buy postcards, a sarong and you are left to wander at will. (55) Very beautiful temple by the lake. Well kept gardens. Very popular with tourists. Nice to walk around. (56) One of the places you must visit when coming to Bali. Magnificent cliffs and Temples on top of them. Tourists have No acces inside but views are spectacular. (57) Visited early morning to beat the crowds, which turned out to be a good idea. By the time we left, it was very busy with big tour groups. We were also early enough to wade across to the island to be blessed with holy water by the monks. This was a lovely experience and we just made it in time before the tide became too strong/high. Beautiful location but a bit of a tourist trap. (58) My husband discovered this place whilst researching Bali’s places must see sites.\nBoth of us got very excited about it when we’d saw the photos online etc. \n\nI must admit that it was an absolutely amazing place... the backdrop to the temple is mount Anung and what a breathtaking view it is.... \n\nIf you’re in Bali - this would be on my Top 5 places to go..... make sure you get to take in the view - even though you are hurried along due to the queues of other people wanting to take photos.... I like the fact that people create an orderly queue so everyone can take a moment to enjoy it... (59) It is a beautiful temple in a lake. The view is of small hills around the lake and temple in between is scenic. The place is neat and clean but like any other Bali tourist place it is very crowded.\nRemember to carry umbrellas or ponchos as weather is very unpredictable there and chances of rain are very likely (60) Very beautiful, special part of Bali. A must see!. Try to pick low tide to access the temple itself. A few stairs to scale but well worth the effort.
