(2) This place is simply beautiful. The black sand, the temple sitting directly at the threshold of the sand and the Indian Ocean... nature’s best. The priest offering a blessing in the base of the temple as the waves hit the rocks... calming\nThe outdoor market with a mixture of mainstream and private brands... conveniently genius\nBut, the sunset... wowing and simply gorgeous to see all of the colors come together than settle behind the water. (3) If the tide is high, the temple are seperated from the mainland, very unique..\nLove the view especially on sunset..\nBut it gets very crowded at that time..\nCome early to save sunset viewing spot.. (4) Even though it was raining and the temple was full of tourists, nothing could take away from the beauty of this place. It is absolutely stunning, on the edge of the lake, beautiful hindu architecture and open space (5) 24th of December 2015, it was my first time of visiting this unique temple. It has a beautiful view and a nice beach. Many things we can do at this place. There are beach, restaurants, shops, temple and many more. (6) What an amazing place. We visited when it was low tide and from both on the beach and from the cliff tops the place was spectacular! Take some time to sit and enjoy the view and to walk both sides of the temple. There were lots and lots of people there but in my books Tanah Lot is a must see Bali icon!! Absolutely beautiful sunsets too. (7) The temples were okay to see, I found it quiet boring... until you get to the cliff. The views are amazing! If only you could sit there and have a coffee and enjoy the view. The temple was very busy, however it was January (school holidays) so we couldn't expect any less. I would recommend just for the views alone, it only cost $3 entry and you get a sarong to cover up, I highly recommend bringing lots of water, there is a lot of breeze but wow it gets hot there! (8) Another must visit place. The temple in the lake is beautiful. Go there in the morning, where sometimes you can be luck to find mist/fog. (9) Just add some photos in here. One of the most beautiful sunset in Bali. This is a temple, so dress politely. (10) Once making your way up the first set of stairs, you are met with a glorious view of a temple reaching up to the sky, surrounded by plant life growing anywhere and everywhere. The views are absoluty gorgeous (11) The temple is very crowded and just average as far as temples go. I was not able to go inside some areas I wanted to photograph. Had I not been with my guide to explain some things about Hindu Temples, I would have been sorry I walked up. I decided not to go for the show and was glad. Thank you Trip Advisor Reviewers who suggested against this. (12) Before entering, everyone must wear a sarong and sash as a respect for the holy place. Entrance fee need to apply. There will many many steps climbing. Also there are monkeys, some are aggressive. Do not put anything on head like sunglasses, hats , scarves, hair pin. And becareful of your cameras too. They will sneak up and snatch.\n\nUsually the guide will bring you around 6pm to see the sunset so the place is full of people. So patience is greatly needed. (13) After all the hype, paintings, photos etc I still went in with low expectations - and was disappointed. The place was packed solid with tourist groups (many of the Chinese variety), the temple was ok to look at, but I was underwhelmed. Even if this was free I'm not sure it's worth the journey out to see it. As it was, they charged us a recently increased rate per head to visit. Give this one a miss in Bali. (14) Very picturesque temple on the rock. We had been there for a sunset and that was great choice. In my opinion one of the most beautiful temples in Bali. Worth to see. (15) Good place of interest. Can see both Hindu temple and panorama of the lake. Also available activities for family like Fast boat, traditional canoe, and funny canoe designed as duck or dragon with manual operate by foot hahaha... (16) We visited just before sunset. Just beautiful. We also watched the dance spectacular which was fun and entertaining. You cannot go inside the temple itself but the surrounding area is interesting and has FANTASTIC views on both sides. Highly recommend a visit. (17) I spotted Hotels near the edge of the Lake. The weather is extremely pleasant. The compound is well maintained. I stayed longer that planned as it felt peaceful. I rate this temple the best I have been so far in Bali. You have to time the arrival time well to avoid the bas load of tourists.\n\nIt took a while to get there due to the distance and it is quite high up on a mountain. (18) Don't miss the sunset there. Go quiet early if you want to see the show. Take the stairs up to the temple to see an inspiring view of the ocean. I rented a motorbike and went there and enjoyed the show. (19) Very peaceful and calming surroundings, I would definitely make an effort to check this 1634 ad built temple, it is high on the mountain so it is on the cool side which does make a change the heat that Bali can throw at you. There is a Entrance ticket and there are places to eat and drink nearby you will not be disappointed. (20) The temple located on the lake, nice view of mountain. When you are lucky you can see the Balinese praying in the temple. Must visit in Bali (21) Great place for the sunset views & photos. There are some downsides! Tourists can be real litter bugs, please dispose of your waste conscientiously. Nothing worse than paddling at a beautiful spot amongst straws and bottles! Please note, you cannot access the Temple. you will be invited to, but you must pay for a blessing and then you are allowed up a flight of steps but no further. If you would like a blessing have one, and a small donation will help the locals. There is cliff top \parade\" of shops, stalls, bars (Warung) etc. great location for the perfect sun set snaps and reasonable priced fare." (22) It is very much hyped. But yes the market inside the temple premises is very promising and fantastic. It's only good to view the sunset. They didn't allow tourist to go inside the temple. I dunno why people visit this place and what they worship (23) Awesome temple complex. While the lake had receded during Bali's dry spell, the temple is exquisite. While a major tourist attraction of a main highway, very much worth the stop. (24) scenic temple surrounded by sea facing the west, perfect to visit at sunset hours. easy to reach. a bit spoiled. (25) OK....so if you are in to peaceful meditative temple atmospheres DO NOT GO HERE! WOW...the crowds were immense and not a ounce of the normal temple atmosphere to be found! Sure, go....take some nice pics of the temple on the water, tick it off your list, but don't expect a life changing moment of clarity or anything! Except the one to avoid any place that a car park is overflowing with coaches! (26) The scenery on top of the temple is beautiful! From the height you can see the entire sea and it's beautiful waves. Such a beauty. Come and visit with family and friends. It's amazing! (27) The temples are small and not open to visitors. You can get close to one by crossing the beach (at low tide) but all you can do is get to the base, from which you can't see anything. All you can really do is take pictures from a distance. There also appeared to be a lot of construction going on building new temple parts - so perhaps better in a few years time. There's also no guides or even signs explaining anything so you have no idea where you are going or what you are looking at.\n\nOf course the whole thing is surrounded by a small village of souvenir stalls and small restaurants.\n\nNot really worth the effort expended getting there. (28) Very nice temple.\nI think our children (2 and 4) loved it even more than us, they jumped from stone to stone in the water area, looked at the fishes and flowers. (29) Special recommend if you find for the beautiful view to doing Preweding Photoshoot. This place is amazing because you can see the beautiful temple in the sea...you can see how the beautiful nature of this place from my picture.\nThis place is recommend for you if you come to Bali. (30) Bali has a number of temples. This one is stunning and appears in many postcards. It is not as visited as Tanh Lot. If you are in the area, it is worth the visit. (31) This is one of the amazing place I ever visited, very beautiful sceanic views.\nTemple looked fab with ocean surrounding it.\nTake a good camera to capture high waves.\nIts really hot so lots of water, sunscreen, cap, umbrella is the must.\nMust watch place in world. (32) So tourists are not allowed to actually cross the water and go close to the temple. View is not bad. (33) The location was amazing and very scenic all around the temple everywhere. You can sit in or take a look around the temple expect to sweat a little. (34) Beautiful views of the temple in the middle of the sea. Can cross over to the temple during low tide. Beautiful views during sunset too. (35) We reached around 2 afternoon. It took an hour to see around. Even though we were Hindus we were not allowed to enter Main temple area.\nTemple is very beautiful. Lot of walk so should visit in evening hours. (36) if you are in Bali, make sure you visit this stunning place, twisty roads are leading to this temple, and it's well worth to look around here. You won't regret it ! (37) This is a temple in the midst of the ocean albeit at the shore.\n\nIt has amazing sun set and sea waves.\n\nThe complex has lot of shops & restaurants. Loved the shopping in the ally on the way to the temple though (alot cheaper than the tourist spots in Legian, Kuta) (38) I wish it was cleaner but overall it was one of the best temples in Bali with spectacular view. \n\nWe came when there were also loads of local tourists due to national school holiday. Hence, there were a lot of people there. (39) We just returned from the amazing climb up the 1700(!!) stairs.A part of me says I should not share as this is still a piece of unspoiled beauty on Bali..on the other hand I promised our guide to promote this beautiful serie of temples :)\n\nSo: Don't hesitate and make some time to experience both cultural and natural beauty! Like mentioned before this place is not ruined by mass tourism yet..we only ran into one other tourist during our hike up and down. (40) Lovely setting and a pretty temple. \nThis place is just a get them in and take the money. \n\nI guess they have to up keep the place. \n\nWould not make a special trip (41) Buy some bananas and hold them high above your head. The little simians jump up on your shoulder and eat their prize...The Temple of Shiva is eclectic....very spiritual! (42) Upon arriving we thought the place would be very crowded because of all the cars and busses, but because the place is so big this turned out to be okay.\n\nVery pretty temple.\n\nThe area around the temple is made for tourists, with lots of funny statues, gorgeous flowers and places to grab a bite. Everything is clean. (43) I've been to Bali many times and always wanted to visit this temple. I got close, driving by a few months ago as we hurried to a friends village for a ceremony. Today I finally got to stop and enjoy this beautiful place! So did lots of other people but it didn't matter-we were all there to enjoy! As with anywhere in Bali, there was a small cost involved-$3 Aus per person, but it was well worth it! (44) Beautiful location, they actually have a temple with a very charming sea view. The temple is located on a cliff and the ocean below it. This temple has beautiful sunset view in Bali. (45) Do really think if you really nead to see this temple really yourself. It's magical on postcards, it's majestic on posters, it's melancholic on your mind, it's Coney Island on the lake when you are there. Not only overcrowded, with rental boats of all designs, not at all majestic, when you stay just beside it... what really hit me in the face were cartoon animals shapes benches in the park surrounding this temple. The magic is... gone. (46) If this temple was done in 15th century, boy! It's ahead of its time. A temple on a rock wherein the tides come and go. Very nice. A spring is located behind it; where a local (Hinduism) priest blesses you- you can also collect some water if you like. Tide pools also form at low tide where you could see crabs and small fish. *people also come here to watch the sunset...\n\nWear shoes with grip- I witnessed 2 people slip. Check low-high tide times, to know what to wear. \nLots of Shopping going to the temple, toilet available, and live civet and bat at warung coffee. (47) We went in the evening to watch the sunset, but this temple was extremely crowded... there is a main street very close by full of shops catering to tourists (selling snacks, drinks and souvenirs) (48) We watched a stunning sunset here. The best time to visit is after 5 PM when it's not so hot anymore. Visually the position of the temple depends on the water level. (49) The drive up to the temple itself builds up the experience you will have up there. Serene & spiritual. Although it is a very popular tourist spot , always teeming with people, one feels a sense of peace & calm in the complex. the waves of the indian ocean crashing into the cliff.. the sound, the colors, the very air of that place is meant to take to a beautiful zone. There isnt much to see there other than the ocean and marvel at the people who must have built it , but there is soo much to experience there. Good part, if you are a hindu , you may be allowed into the main shrine (on the head priests approval)- which feels like you have entered a different world. Perfect place sit and meditate / vegetate for hours. Must go place. (50) I would recommend that you visit the temple only if you are passing by, no need to go here from Denpasar or Ubud unless you are close by doing something.\n\nThere is a entrance fee for turists, i think it's like 20.000 IDR.\nNo entrance fee for local people, this system is very common in Asia so no need to feel you're being cheated.\nIt's nice to walk among the temple inside and snap a few obligated pictures of the famous lake tempels. (51) If you are a photographer or just have a passion for photography then this place has incredible views and one beautiful sunset. Please do respect the temple since people do attend the temple for their worships as I've noticed. Beware of the monkeys as well as they will steal your belongings if you are not watching them or carrying loosely on you such as jewelry, handbags and so forth. There are traditional dance shows but have to pay to be a part of it. You pay as well to enter the temple. There is a pathway to the beach - you can walk there. Please keep the temple clean as many do fail to do so, but my advice to all who reads this review is to have respect for such places, thank you. (52) It is worth a visit, beautiful temple and surroundings. A very good place to catch the sunset, several photographic locations. It is heavily crowded towards evening. (53) We thought the temple was nice, but not super spectacular. It's nice on the cliff and you can walk quit a bit. (54) So far the best temple during my 1 week stay (visited 4 temples). Be ready for a long drive but its worth it with the awesome view. Cheap photographers available idr20,000 each so be sure to get them for good momento. Highly recommend to all. (55) Friend people excellent grounds gorgeous temples cheap shopping and traditional clothing can be found snake and bird park also would recommend visiting a must see (56) Nice hilly ride up there with beautiful view of the surroundings. The temple is very romantic looking like it is floating on the rocks next to the shores. The garden leading there is very nice. (57) A must visit for beautiful sunset, outstanding view and natural beauty. Reach by 5 pm...take a walk across the whole area and wait for the sunset. Most beautiful temple in Bali (58) Excellent location which was recommended by our tour guide. Fantastic view of the Temple on the mountain top. Spectacular view from here. The view of the sea from this location is awesome. All visitors to Bali should not miss this location. (59) Nice scenery. Great environment. The temple is very unique. Just couldn't understand in the middle of the hill... you can find a lake. (60) Simply stunning we went in the morning so we could walk over to the temple. Getting blessed was a great experience
