[TOPIC] 9 [Stats] N=60 | Source=../data/original/reviews.tab (1) Peace and serenity! No stalls selling merchandise like at other temples (Besakih, Tanah Lot etc). Saris provided free of charge for those who do not have and views without question amongst the best in Bali. A bit of travelling from Ubud etc but worth the trip/ A MUST! (2) One of the most beautiful place in Bali. There are three tenples, Tanah Lot is the most beautiful. Like a painting *-* (3) It's well worth a visit to Tanah Lot at sunset. The temple is quite special and despite the many visitors it's still atmospheric at sunset. The shopping precinct seems to have grown considerably since I was there last time with even brand stores amongst the many clothing shops. You could finish alot of your bali shopping whilst visiting Tanah Lot if that's your thing. (4) A visit to Bali is incomplete without a visit to Tanah Lot Temple. A unique offshore setting, the place looks mesmerising with sunset backdrops, clear blue water and the rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. Tanah Lot means \Land [in the] Sea\" in the Balinese language. Infact, this is the first touristy place we explored at Bali. We had a great time in the holy place which is perfect for photo opps as well owing to the stunning view of the temple. \n\nThe place is located 16 kms away from the hotel. We booked a cab from Sanura Tours & Travels and A smooth drive led us to one of Bali’s most important landmark. \n\nWe stepped out of the temple and wanted to quench our thirst. So we looked around and found a shop selling coconuts & ice-creams. To our surprise, these coconuts were much bigger than what we have had in India. So cool, one coconut water was sufficient for all of us. There were also shops selling famous Bali bags and souvenirs." (5) It was a 2 hours ride to Tanah Lot but it is worth it. The view at the seaside was beautiful. There was a temple there but it was high tide, no one can get across. The strong waves kept rushing in and out.\nBefore walking to the seaside. There are alot of shops, somewhat selling almost the same thing. (6) Just came for a cruise on the scooter great views all the way rice fields along the way are all manicured to perfection the scenery at Tanah Lot is as always amazing very laid back can get lots of traditional Bali Nick Nacks and Food stalls (7) Went to check the place on a whim and was not unimpressed. Very unique and impressive masonry. Very picturesque.\n\nWe arrived on the outgoing tide having got a taxi from canggu (100K IDR), and did some looking around before stopping in one of the restuarants for lunch after having checked prices etc and was not upset at all with the food we all chose. After we finished the tide retreated enough to cross over the break and walk around the base of the island temple.\n\nBe cautious of the \holy water spring\" you will see as we had friends become ill after entertaining it. \n\nCheck it though. Very interesting place and you can grab a Taxi from just outside the gates near the main carpark (legit taxi service stand) as we had the taxi that got us there telling us there were no Taxi's in Tanah Lot.....\n\nYou have to pay to enter but very affordable.. I think it was $6AUD Per adult (kids 10 and above inc as adult) on the day. There are Markets EVERYWHERE within so dont feel pressured to buy without really looking around" (8) Tanah Lot Temple is perhaps the most visited site of Bali by foreign tourists. After paying the entrance fees when I entered the temple premises I came across various shops selling different sort of stuff, however a walk along ahead towards the beach brings you closer to this 15th century heritage temple amidst the sea. \n\nThere's a lot of history around the temple but then I am sure it makes more sense to pay a visit and enjoy it for yourself. As for me I had a very tough time keeping my head straight in the hot sun of October. I just took a view, took some customary snaps and then left the place in a jiffy before I could faint. (9) Tanah lot is the most beautiful Temple in tabanan Bali. And amazing sunset. The local People are so friendly, and Help full, how ever the Holy snake is a great historical from Bapak made. (10) Tanah Lot is the best of Bali's west. Tourists come to see this temple by the sea, built on top of a huge rock where waves crashing to it. To top of it, the sunset will bring out its iconic view. Though I heard, you can walk through the shallow waters of the sea to go inside the temple, however that time was unfortunate for me as the water level and the waves were really strong. I was also entertained watching the surfers on the other side of the sea. (11) We have been at Tanah Lot for sunset - an eery mood, really romantic and very different from anything else we saw in Indonesia. However, be prepared that you are not the only one visiting the place: of course it is touristic and there are street vendors. Nevertheless, the temple has an aura of loneliness as it sits somewhat away from the mainland on a rock in the sea. You can traverse by foot at some times of the day, but not enter the temple as such. (12) This place offers great scenery. Even though the temple is small and not for the tourist. The temple is just on the seashore which marked its uniqueness. Unlike tanah lot are you will have to wear sarang that will be available with the ticket. The entrance ticket is 30000 IDR per person. in the evening jio mein enjoy there are local dances well and there is a separate charges for that. \n\nFrom here as well you may view a beautiful sunset. Be aware of the monkeys because they are notorious. These monkeys are unlike monkey forest monkeys. They will snatch your belongings so be alert about them. It's a big area you may roam around and enjoy the beauty of nature. There are restaurants as well even though small one. (13) Had a wonderful time at Tanah Lot, beautiful temple. A lot of people selling things but thats a given for touristy places. The blessings by the sea was a definite highlight! A must see whilst in Bali! (14) We paid 20k rupiah for the ticket. It was a bit crowded but tolerable. This attraction is good for photo op, the view is magnificent. I love it! You have the option to go down by the beach area but we were not able to do it because I was travelling with my senior citizen parents. So we opted to just stay and admire its beauty from the view point. \n\nYou may also have your photo taken by the staff for 20k rupiah which includes tanah lot frame, perfect as souvenir. Although there are a lot of vendors inside selling souvenirs. But their price is cheaper compare to other tourist spots in Bali. \n\nDefinitely a must go to place when you visit Bali. (15) You can enjoy the glory of Indian ocean, enjoy breathtaking sunset at Tanah lot. The complex is really large and pretty ancient with Balinese character throughout. \n\nThere are many shops and hawkers along the way, and had to cross all of them to get to the temple. Like all other temples in Bali, you cannot worship, but the location of the temple on the rock was pretty impressive site.\n\nPlease be careful of your car. We did park in the paid parking lot of the temple, but had both tail lights damaged when we came back. Management should improve the service and security. (16) Tanah lot temple is one of sad kahyangan (directory temple)in Bali located around 1 hour or one and half hours drive from Denpasar, this Temple also one of top site in Bali for sunset sightseing,,, (17) Bali is full of beautiful sights. One of them is Tanah-lot Temple. The sunset view, the overall temple area, everything is extremely beautiful. (18) Very nice sitting in the warungs overlooking Tanah Lot at sunset eating a yummy cheap Indo meal and drinking a few bintangs. Just be ready for fair bit of traffic on the way out. Also while you're there have a coffee at the Luwak cafe (19) There are many Hindu temples in Bali but Tanah Lot is surely the most spectacular ! Located about 45 minutes from Kuta, it is a must see. The temple is on a small, rocky island accessible via a causeway. It is constantly busy with fascinating ceremonies, worshippers and tourists. Some research before you travel will enhance your trip. Soak in the atmosphere ! (20) Tanah lot is so beautiful and there is actually some really good shopping hear aswell with some cheaper prices then actual Kuta itself we walked up the hill through shops to a little bar ontop of a cliff looking out to Tanah lot drinking cocktails of rum and juice in a coconut also the reptile and snake park there is pretty awesome aswell with a snake that weights 150kg witch was deffinitly a must see ask the locals around Tanah lot where to see the massive snake and they will point you in the right direction the also have bats and an iguana to have photos with (21) Our visit to Tanah Lot was well timed at low tide so we were able to walk right out and around the surrounding rocks right up to the Temple. That allowed us to take plenty of photos from different angles. You can only wonder why this special place was built on a rock in the ocean. (22) I’m not Buddhist so I don’t really know if a temple is spectacular or not but I do know the location of this temple was extraordinary. Tanah Lot is right near the ocean so you have waves coming in and crashing the side of the temple and it is absolutely beautiful. There were many people there but they were very civil and not pushing at all so we didn’t mind the crowds. Everything about this temple was wonderful down to the minute detail. Now getting here is a bit difficult but as with most places here in Bali, you just hire a driver and they are yours for 10 hours and at very good rates so transportation isn’t a problem. This is certainly a must do while in Bali. (23) Reached in time for sunset which was amazing . temple on cliff was not as awesome as Tanah lot . But there is a boundary wall which makes it safe and convenient to watch the sunset even in a large crowd. (24) My driver took me to the Tanah lot temple early in the morning top avoid the crowds who come for the sunset, which can be observed just as spectacularly on any part of the beach. The temple is amazing perched on the top a rock in the ocean, there are gardens to wander around and souvenir stands for those who want to shop. Well worth the visit. (25) Bali have a lot of spot to see the sunset, and Tanah Lot is one of them. Also u can enjoy one of the holy temple inside the with the great view. if u're lucky u can see the holly snake also. Hopefully can comeback to here again... (26) Tanah Lot temple is the last sea temple in Bali. The sun sets over the Indian Ocean behind the temple and provides THE most stunning backdrop for a drink and dinner on the cliff top. Easy to get to and most definitely worth taking the time! (27) I got the perfect time to watch sunset on Tanah Lot..\nIt was beautiful! \nThere you can find a holy snake in front of the temple.. \nAlso the holy water spot so you can wash your face there and sip a prayer... (28) If planned trip to Bali ,Tanah lot beach Temple should be added in checklist for places to visit in Bali \nIt was awesome I felt like heaven ... Beach waves and Temple whether was cool and just. Awesome \nOne should not end Bali trip without visiting Tanah Lot beach Temple (29) There is a temple in the cliff and you can get there if the water of sea is in the down level. I got perfect sunset everytime I went there. So many spot to see in Tanah Lot and there is a romantic restaurant near car park in the back.Do not miss it! (30) As with all places as special as this, you should expect many tourists (including you LOL). Having said this, they have created a tourist attraction to cope with theses numbers as a honeypot sites whilst retaining something of the sacred for the Temple itself on the island. They have created good walkways/ promenades between the many other temples around the other inlets around Tanah Lot up to Batu Bolong, Batu Mejan and Pekndungan temples. I went in a Sunday in January so visitor numbers were low and mainly local people at leisure which was nice. However you still had a large number looking at the temple from across the water a short way. I didn’t go over to it because there was a big festival on and I was happy to spectate. Most tourists just stick around the area at the bottom of the steps overlooking The temple for about 80 metres. One tip is to pick your way across the rocks and rock pools past them all to get the best views away from people and you get really good different angle on the Temple and the island. Later you will get some great views back from the other side as you look down on Tanah Lot temple from the other temples. (31) The trip to Tanah Lot was slow due to road traffic congestion, but still enjoyable to be able to see things on the way.\nOn arriving we were dropped off by the driver and left to look around and have time to enjoy a beautiful sunset.\nThere were many tourists here. Also there is a very big market area with very cheap prices for a very large selection of things you don't see in Seminyak where we were staying. The Luwak coffee was very interesting. We did not spend much time in the market because we came for the temple, but if we had more hours there I would have liked to look around there as well. I think it would be worthwhile to spend at least half a day if not more there..there is so much to see. Next time we come to Bali I would like to come back in the morning and spend more time there. We also had dinner there which was super cheap and traditional Bali food like we used to have in the 80's (32) We went to Tanah Lot to see sunset, we were lucky because we're still able to cross to the central temple, the local guide helped visitors to cross as the tide start to rise.\n\nLove the atmosphere even though due to cloudy weather the sunset just ok. (33) We were on family holiday to bali & visit Tanah Lot Temple. Amazing view from of the sea from the temple. Temple located in the middle of the sea & its awesome experience taking a shot when the sun setting. (34) I have always wanted to go to Tanah lot temple and I'm so glad we finally go to see it! It was a low tide that day so we got to go pretty close to the temple, although there was a ceremony that day and it was quite busy from all the locals. It was such a beautiful atmosphere to be in though :) we ended up getting some drinks up the top of the cliff and watched the sunset behind the temple :) it was a lovely experience. (35) First went to Tanah Lot over 35 years ago and I should have kept that memory. Back then it was just the Temple and it felt special. Now, it's geared at tourists and there are shops and markets as well as accommodation. I guess if youve never seen it before it might he OK to see but it's not really worth the trip from Kuta. (36) I visited Tanah lot at noon, after I visited the other temple and Pura. When visited the other temples I felt bored because the view are almost same. At first I thought visiting Tanah lot will be the same with others Temple and Pura but my friends forced me to visit Tanah Lot. \n\nAfter long way to go I felt bored again and not really sure it will be a good place to go BUT I'M WRONG, Tanah Lot is the best temple and Pura with beach view that must visited. The place was amazing (37) Didn't love Tanah lot as much as I thought I would! The huge amount of market stalls and people selling things combined with the rubbish all over the beach made this really disappointing! (38) Tanah Lot is one of the most famous sunset points in the world... if you can catch the sunset. Most days are cloudy though. The temple itself is a marvel and worth seeing. The waves crash on to the rocks, sometimes up to 15ft high. (39) Tanah Lot is a temple in the middle of sea and a treat to eyes during sunset. But it gets really crowded. When you enter, there are 2 paths - one that goes to Batu Bolong and the other one to Tanah Lot (both being in the same campus). Personally, I liked Batu Bolong more than Tanah Lot. You can go down the stairs and go to the Batu Bolong beach (almost all to yourselves, since there were very few tourists down there). The views are amazing - big waves and sunset. Truly a must visit when you are in Bali. (40) Fabulous day out visiting Tanah Lot Temple, Canggu and surrounds including Berawa Beach with our favourite driver Wayan. Thank you Wayan for another wonderful day out and sharing your great knowledge of Bali. If you are thinking of organising a private driver or tour through Bali Sun Tours, I strongly recommend you request Wayan as your driver. (41) Tanah Lot!!!\nShould be called Tanah not a Lot\nI am a very patient person and love Bali but I was let down by what I was about to witness\n$12AUD to enter for 2 people + scooter parking fee not a good start\nWe went early morning to hopefully beat the rush. Sorry there is no quieter time lol\nAfter going through the entrance your first sight is a street full of stalls selling everything as they do in Bali\nWhen you do finally get to the end walking around are more people trying to sell you stuff\nPhotographers trying to get you to follow your experience \nNext thing you have to deal with is the selfie stick brigade ( you know the ones I mean they come by the bus load) \nOMG how many different ways are there to take a pic of yourself and are not shy to push their way in front of everyone even to go to the toilet \nCheck tide times as we were there at high tide so could not get to the temple which probably was a good thing as I'm sure we would have been trampled by the \rude I must get there first people\"\nAll in all a bit of a let down \nThe best part of the trip was the scooter ride there and back" (42) Tanah Lot was beautiful. There was a lot of people there and I can understand why. Bring a hat and a lot of water with you. We were there at low tide and were able to walk out to the temple. \n\nWe found this entrance fee to be on the high side (60,000 RP) and also paid 50k RP to park. That's a lot more expensive than the other temples we saw on our trip. This is also the only place where we saw signs asking you to pay to use the toilets. It's 3k RP per visit. There's lots of shops here but we also found them to be much more expensive than similar shops in other places of the island. You can purchase tickets here to watch a Kecak Fire Dance as well. \n\nThe temple itself is 5 stars, but this location is only 3 stars because of the crowds and prices. Therefore my review is 4 stars over all. (43) The image of a sunset view over the Tanah Lot Temple is one of the iconic images of Bali. Due to its popularity, a lot of crowd gathers there during the evening and good vantage points to catch the sunset in peace and unhindered are virtually unavailable.\n\nBut that takes nothing away from the beauty there. Not only is the sunset view excellent, but coupled with the gradually increasing sounds of the waves crashing on the rocky coasts, the entire experience becomes mesmerising.\n\nThere are a lot of shops and food / drink stalls around the temple. The lawns and the surrounding grounds are also very well maintained. There is a lower ground that can be easily reached where the waves crash on our feet as the size of the tides increase in the evening. All in all, it is a very picturesque visiting spot. (44) This is an opportune site to get some great pictures of the sun setting, but is a hot spot for tourists, so expect a lot of foot traffic.\n\nThe Tanah Lot temple was built and has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples was established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast. In addition to Balinese mythology, the temple was significantly influenced by Hinduism.\n\nRecommend going towards the end of the day just prior to sunset to get that good photo op. (45) Went to visit Tanah Lot temple at around 2pm in the afternoon. The sun is super hot but it is windy with cool breeze with the awesome view which makes the visit worth it. \nThere were these little shops that sells batik and souvenirs along the way before you get to go inside the temple. \nIt was full of crowd of course but we were lucky to get near the photo spot as it was low tide on that time. \nThere is this donation box which u can donate by free will for the temple.. (46) Bali is famous as \an island of one thousand temples\" although ten thousands is more like it, actually. With that many temples on the island, there is just not other temple that is like Tanah Lot temple. You could walk to the temple from the land during low tide. During high tide, you could hold onto a rope connecting the temple to the land. The beauty of Tanah Lot has to be experienced as I cannot explain the amazing feeling I have every time I visit this sacred temple." (47) An easy hour drive from Kuta brings you to this temple, which holds it's iconic status as probably being Bali's most famous along with Uluwatu. From the car park to the temple requires a short walk, where you pass souvenir stalls, canvassers, and eateries which seem to be the norm in Bali. The site is very busy with tourists, looking to catch a glimpse, but that glimpse may be harder to catch if the tide is high (high during our visit), which prevents you walking down and being at arms length next to the temple, therefore no sarong was required.\nBut there is something special with onlooking views of the temple with waves crashing in, just need patience with photos beacause your time will come just make sure your ready. Also remember Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most popular places to visit, so many tourists are GUARANTEED, so don't complain about something that can't be helped. Hard to say which of Tanah Lot or Uluwatu has the most dramatic setting....easy answer, visit both... (48) This is in the ocean and it’s another big area with a couple of temples. Now this place was full of tourists but quite okay anyway since it was the only one of all my stops so far that I’ve seen that many. A little spoiled during low season =) Tanah Lot was not as impressive as the other ones but nice to have seen it as it was on my list (49) Made it a point to visit Tana Lot. Sunset is very popular so expect crowds to gather. You can snap beautiful selfies here. It's a little walk from the entrance parking lot to down the shore where it's located. Happy there were food vendors to cool off with ice-cream and ice cold drinks. It was humid and very hot when I visited. It's a beautiful landmark in Bali. Lucky I was able to visit (50) Attracted by lovely pictures of sunset at Tanah Lot, we made the almost 2 hour drive from our villa in Ubud to Tanah Lot to witness the sunset.\n\nWe were disappointed to say the least. Tanah Lot Temple and the nearby beach area were crowded. Do not dream of any tranquil sunset shots. The whole area is touristy - with rows of shops selling tourist stuff like tee-shirts, souvenirs and food stuff, plus some cafes / restaurants serving food.\n\nThe sunset pictures are frankly not great. Our driver told us, after the fact, that Seminyak also offers lovely sunset views. \n\nIn short, the sunset at Tanah Lot is not a great deal. Do it if:\n1. You have loads of time on your hand in Bali;\n2. You enjoy very touristy stuff\n3. You happen to stay right in the vicinity of Tanah Lot and are already in very close proximity. (51) We arrived at Tanah Lot at around 3pm. We had something to eat at the seafood restaurant on the cliff edge. It wasn't the best but it defiant let want bad either. \nThe seafood is fresh and cooked well. \nThe view is amazing. You want to sit outside and listen to the ocean as you eat. \nThe restaurant itself is old and dated. It looked like it was falling apart but most people would sit outside. \nThere are new restaurants opening soon. \n\nWe watched the sun set which was gorgeous. The temple is in the water. When it's high tide, you can't get to the temple but during low tide you can walk across the rocks and be blessed with holy water. \n\nThe temple view is beautiful and the others temples around it are stunning too, especially during sun set. \n\nThe main temple is filled with people! There are markets around and stalls so it's worth walking around the whole area and spending a couple of hours taking photos. \n\nThere is parking available if required. (52) Tanah Lot Temple is one of those places in Bali you have to visit. You will see a beautiful temple that's in the sea and you can only get close to during low tide. This place offers beautiful views and a pretty good photo opp. The downside is the fact that it's super overcrowded. It is a big tourist destination so when you get here expect a crowd. If you go early you can beat the crowd. But there's also a crowd for the sunset on Tanah Lot. Keep an eye out for the holy snakes that protect the temple. They say it's good luck if you see one. (53) I was having a lot of unforgettable moments here! \n\nFirst, this was the first time I had a ritual of Hindu to welcome blessings onto me and my life although I am Catholic / Christian.\n\nSecond, it was the first time I touched the Holy Snake in the Holy Snake's cave.\n\nThird, I took a lot of photos around Tanah Lot area and they were so beautiful pictures.\n\nForth, I mingled with all other tourists from all around the world and had some conversations; they were nice peoples and friendly.\n\nFifth, I took photos of the beautiful amazing rocks that look so artistic and beautiful created by sea waves for years.\n\nI thank God for this amazing Tanah Lot and God bless this wonderful Indonesia. \n\nTanah Lot, so excellent tourism spot for leisure and photography. (54) The grounds are beautiful. Tanah Lot is incredible in person. After walking down to the beach front, you have the option to walk across the water and cleanse your head in the holy running water, followed by a small prayer and a rice blessing. The experience was incredible. Bring some local money, the rice blessing is provided with a small donation (any amount). Also, we were told we did not need water shoes however after getting my feet wet it was clear that the shoes would of came in handy. It is slightly rocky at one point and could be very uncomfortable on your feet. The shoes would of helped for sure. (55) Tanah lot temple is more of a place to buy cheap bintang tshirts and tourist tat than experience any sort of balinese culture. Some nice photo opportunities but this place was cash in a long time ago. (56) Tanah Lot is one of the icons of Bali and lots of tourists coming in Bali don't miss the amazing sunset. The entrance fee is 30k IDR but the sunset is priceless. You need like 20 mins from the parking area to get to the area where people gather to see the sunset. It's simply amazing to see the sun hiding into the ocean just near the temple while the mix of colours gives you the impression you are in a dream. Probably I will visit it again when we return to Bali. (57) Gorgeous views!!! I loved the Tanah lot. Be careful of the waves- they are very strong. Also if you go in the morning it is way less crowded! (58) Although sunsets at Pura Tanah Lot are said to be amazing, we decided to visit in the early afternoon to avoid the massive crowds (& traffic!). There were many souvenir stalls to walk through, however we were able to find a few alternate paths to avoid them. We were pleasantly surprised to find out there were 8 other \sea temples\" along the coast, which made the long drive a little more worth it. The tide wasn't high while we were there, but it wasn't quite low enough either, so we squeezed our way through all the selfie sticks & settled for some photos of the temple in the distance. It was a little disappointing to see the surrounding areas had become overrun with vendors; in our opinion, the \"floating\" temple was a pretty site to see, but not necessarily a \"must\" see." (59) Tanah Lot is such a beautiful place ! It's unbelievable how this temple has been built on a huge rock like monument. \nIt's been there since the1800s and is very remarkable place to visit 😊 (60) Tanah Lot is one of the tourism object you have to visit. why? Because if you lucky enough to visit it when the sea isn't setting you can enjoy playing in the seashore. I recommended you to come there when the sun rise, because it truly beautiful.
