(1) Have been here before and the tide was too high to cross. But this time was we got a little wet. At the temple, if you want to go up to take pics, you must first be blessed and drink holy water. Which we did, which of course being bali you have to pay for. $5 for 2 people. Last time I was there I saw people right at the top. This time they would only let you go 1/4 up. Best part of this was having the lovely old guys help you cross the slippery rocks to the temple. Good for shopping too. Some of the best prices in Bali but still don't be afraid to haggle.
(2) this is thr most amaxing temple to see and very stunning fof peopld that want sunset photos. and the hisyory behind it is amazing. very popular with tourist and busy
(3) We had a short stop over there, but from my point of view, it would be worth to visit the temple for at least 2h.\nIts really beautiful and you will have a lot of options to sit down and relax. They also offer possibilities to eat/drink.
(4) Very beautiful spot to visit, nice to have a walk around and see the beautiful temple. It's very very busy with tourists so get there early.
(5) The Good\n1. Saw how hindus do their traditions beach style.\n2. They worship the sea\n3. Nice views of the temple while the waves are crashing\n4. I think sun set here will be nice. Too bad I got here at high noon when the sun is too hot and my pictures cant see the details of the temple.\n\nThe Bad\n1. Lots of people
(6) its beautiful temple especially for sunset. if you like photography this temple can give some best shot but if not rain
(7) Very awesome temple, one of a wonderful place in bali, a must place to visit when you are in bali. highly recommended!
(8) Blue water touching the shore giving a milky white look.Beautiful View from top and a nice place to go.\nCan not visit temple on most of the days as tourist are not allowed to go inside.
(9) The temple area is very beautiful. The main temple on the lake is small. It is very popular among locals so very crowded. Less than 1 hour is sufficient.
(10) excellent visit, one off the best visit in Bali, try to visit the morning by the small boats in front off the temple, on the sunrise, the light of the sun ( orange) is beautifull on the temple, and the garden is very good to visit and to wlak
(11) Lovely sea with picture perfect view. Cliff and temple scenery is awesome. Sunset is beautiful with glittering sea. Must visit
(12) There is lots to see here besides the temple, expect crowds as they all come to see the temple, shop, eat or drink while soaking up a fabulous sunset. In addition to the usual market stalls you will see fruit bats and colonic coffee beans in the making amongst much much more. Make an evening of it!
(13) this ancient temple located at Tabanan Area and juts take about 45 minutes from denpasar, its a unique temple that located at the top of the rock and will be separated with the mainland in high tide but at the low tide we could walk to the temple.\nenter the main gate you will find the souvenir market as usual as another Balinese object, they sell souvenir and the have some food stall around\nif you a love to see a nice sunset this place over a beautiful sunset and you could have some cocktail during the the sunset at the restaurant around the temple.\n.in the high tide this are offered a good surf for surfing too and if you a surfer its will be nice to surf around the rock.\n\nyou could combine your visit with other atraction around tabanan area like taman ayun, sangeh and bedugul.\ni suggest you to visit this place around the sun set, and search information about the low/high tide because some venue of this place depend on the tide \nif you come at the low tide you could walk close to the temple (you will not allowed to entry the temple) , there's a holy water spring that very unique you could drink the water and its fresh not salt at all.\nnear the temple there's a cave and in the cave they have a holy snake and you could touch the snake
(14) This place is awfully crowded, the temples are closed for visitors,... It was ok, but if you don't have the time to visit, you don't miss much.
(15) Temple is interesting & sunset time is stunning. Often very crowded but still worth a visit for some nice sunset pictures
(16) I did not think it was anything special. Far from anything and hats to find. Buddhist temples were huge which was cool. Waring up and down one row. Stray dogs and cats around which I find gross. Can't really swim in beach. Beach not a good swimming place. People fishing and on boats rowing around. I could off skipped this place.
(17) This temple that is build on several levels is absolutely gorgeous Stunningly beautiful. We did not have time to climb to the top, thus now I have a feeling I wan to return and complete the mission, because it feel like you are climbing up the stairs to heaven. Beautiful scenery.
(18) The temple itself was pretty small, but still very cool to see, but the best part about the trip to the temple were the views. Amazing views of the cliffs with the ocean crashing up against the rocks. I would highly highly recommend going.
(19) This was my favourite of the many temples visited in Bali, the mountain lake setting makes for a picturesque view and without the hoards of sarong selling locals and dodgy taxi drivers. The altitude and relative coolness is a welcome break from the humid and polluted Bali streets.
(20) Spectacular at sunset. Try to time it so the tide is at low tide and you can walk out to the temple base. Allow enough time to stroll the grounds, then go up above on the cliffs to get a cold beverage and watch the spectacular sunset
(21) Majestic waves cresting, a temple in the middle of the sea... A walk up to see the main temple. It is a beautiful place. We went at high tide, still it was beautiful to just stand there and take in the sights. Be sure to have tender coconut water here, it is amazing. Artifact shops also abound, just be careful - all is not as appears and you will need to both haggle on price and keep an eye that what is you bargained for is the same item that is put in the bag.
(22) Really pretty place, you cannot miss this scenic place. it can a a long walk till the other side or you can roam around the Temple grounds.\nBeware :\n1.MONKEYS! they will rob you.\n2.Steep Places\nMust Do : \n1.Wear a sarong to enter any Temple grounds in Bali. its free there.\n2.Grab a corn after the visit and have a coconut. \n\nEnjoy the breeze!
(23) I went here on a drizzly day and that made this place even more surreal. It feels like you have stepped into paradise. The lake is super clean and huge and reminded me of the lake in Montreux, Switzerland. The temple (like most temples in Bali u can only see it from the outside), is beautifully carved in stone and the surrounding hills and dragons make the setting perfect for a lovely photo. I stayed there for a couple hours walking around and soaking in the serenity.
(24) Beautiful place . We went in evening after confirming low tide time.if you visit any other time you cannot cross sea to go other side of temple which is a superb experience. Must visit place in Bali.
(25) U will visit a lot of temples in bali this one is inside the sea. It s very bisy by hindu people coming for prayers. If u wear ur normal shoes u cant walk in the water to reach it so if u plan to walk down there bring ur flipflop. The panoramic view is great but when u come closer nothing special.
(26) This temple is located in central Bali on the western shore of Lake Beratan, with soaring mountains as a backdrop. It was cooler here than in Ubud, and the air smelled fresh.Unfortunately, all of Bali must have been visiting this day which detracted from the experience. It was impossible to take a picture without including dozens of folks taking \selfies.\" However, it's the setting that makes this place special. The temple was built in the 17th century and dedicated to the Hindu trinity. The grounds are well-kept and are very pretty. It's worth a stop just for thel mystical, scenic beauty."
(27) Lovely temple on the cliff. Good for photo ops. The beach was a bit high tide. Please be careful with young children.
(28) This lovely little temple is located deep in the interior of the island. The setting is magnificent, being on a beautiful lake surrounded by lovely gardens full of flowering trees and shrubs. We spent a most enjoyable hour or two there.
(29) The temple was beautiful with the sunset in the background, however, the place is SO commercialised and super busy which let the experience down.
(30) The temple itself is not that special, but the location is stunning. There are similar temples all over the island, but just not in such a cliff top setting. Traffic to the site can be very slow even if this place looks close to the main tourist islands on the map. Consider an early morning visit instead of the sunset crowd. Alternatively rent a moped to dodge the lines of cars. Dress respectfully with shoulders covered. There are some steps at the site, but anyone in average health can cope with these. Even our 3yr old was fine.
(31) The view to the ocean is nice from here, but everything costs money here - charged an IDR 50k entrance fee (from memory) plus tips if you want to do anything else. If you visit at low tide, you can come cross to the temple on the rock (you cannot actually enter the temple) and also have a chance to look at the holy smack. \n\nHowever it is fairly far away from Nusa Dua (appx 2 hours driving) and questionable whether it is actually worth the travel time.
(32) We arrived at the temple , I walked all the stepping stones, we loved the temple and the waterfalls, the kids were having fun with the pools, we had great fun, would recommend to any traveler , we would put this into the top 10 temples.
(33) Slightly out of the way. Early in the day wasn't too busy. Pay an offering to touch the sea snakes (we declined). Can walk to the island to get blessings.

(34) “For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”- Robert Louis Stevenson.\n\nIt was a chilly winter morning with a hint of sunlight barely making it to the ground but warm enough to justify it’s presence. I was sipping a hot cup of “Old Town” coffee (Made by me) when I got the news that the venue is finalized for my wedding. It was a weird feeling of exuberance as well as anxiousness for me to realize that now the countdown has begun.\n\nI am a born traveler with the capacity to “Clean the plate” if you know what I mean. “The news” put my traveler heart to work to find a place that was not only Instagram Friendly but full of experiences. I wanted to travel to a beach destination whereas, Mr. TDH wanted to explore monuments and visit a place which is rich in culture and history. After going through tonnes of travel itineraries of different countries and discussions (Fights :P) and with our wallets in mind we eventually agreed on Bali- The Island of Gods.\n\nWe don’t want to kill the purpose of our story but chuck it\n\nBALI is – – -> DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.\n\nWe visited Bali in the month of December 2017, right after Volcanic Ash was seen rising from the massive Mt. Agung. Though by the time we reached, it was declared safe to travel to this beautiful country. We had booked our package via a travel agent (because we were on our honeymoon and did not want to get in the hassle of booking everything ourselves) which involved a lot of customization as per our taste.\n\nWe flew by “Thai Airways” from IGI Airport Delhi and had a connecting flight via Bangkok. It was a very comfortable journey throughout and we were in Bali on time per the schedule. Our excitement was off the charts to see what we have been reading on different blogs and pages, that the ocean runs on both sides of the air-strip, we were certainly not let down.\n\nThe light blue ocean was a treat to our eyes as it solidified our decision to come to this island far from home. The moment you land in Bali you will realize that this place is very similar to the other Asian Countries but what differentiates it are the “Balinese” people that are so welcoming and understand that Tourism is an important part of their economy. Balinese people are hard-working people who appreciate their country and have utmost respect for people visiting their land.\n\nBali has a rich culture which is majorly influenced by Hindu Mythology and is evident from the idols sculpted across the island and the Gods that they worship.\n\nThey too believe in the Sanskrit saying – “अतिथिदेवो भव:”\n\nIt was to our astonishment that Balinese people visit temples only twice a year to celebrate their festivals and rest of the times their temples are locked. The outer boundary of majorly all the temples are beautifully carved from volcanic stones as they are easily available in abundance.\n\nWE WANT TO KEEP THIS SHORT AND PRECISE \n\nThe scenic beauty of Bali will leave you timelessly spell bound. Please go through the places we visited on this beautiful island over a duration of 7 days:\n\nIf you are a party fanatic, then Kuta (runs along the beach) is the place for you. It is a hub of tourists as this city is a 15 minutes drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. It has a wide variety of happening night clubs, some of which are open through-out the night. Do not miss to visit Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak which is another 11 km drive from Kuta for an amazing sun downer with an exceptional view. Our recommendation- Rent a bike and explore the city.\nAlso, keep a tab on the weather as it is continuously changing, “WE GOT STUCK ON OUR RENTED BIKE IN A THUNDERSTORM AND MADE OUR WAY BACK TO OUR HOTEL AT 2.AM IN THE NIGHT THEN WENT CLUBBING :)”\n\nIf you are a shopaholic but don’t have a huge pocket, then Ubud will serve as a paradise for you. Right next to the scenic rice terraces there is a hub of local handicrafts, jewelry, paintings from local artists and beautiful wooden furniture is available in abundance. Do not forget to take out that Indian bargaining human out of you as they tend to double the prices when seeing a foreigner. If you do not have time to escape from Kuta then don’t worry we have you covered. Mt. Agung mall in Kutahas a wide range of local products which are being sold at reasonable prices. So, if you want to save yourself from the hassle of bargaining with the street vendors then this is the place you should shop.\n\nAll the water babies and beach lovers, you are in great luck. You can either visit Kuta beach or Nusa Dua Beach if you are not a very “Finding Solace” kind of a person as it is majorly crowded with people shopping or indulging in water activities like scuba diving, para sailing, deep sea diving, etc. but if you want to skip the chaos of civilization then Gili Islands is the place to be. There are three small islands just 2 hours speed boat ride away from Bali, namely- Gili Air, Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno. Due to lack of time in hand, we could not visit Gili Air and Gili Meno. We started our journey to Gili-T via speed-boat which was an experience in itself as we sat on the deck and were served Chilled- Bintang. Time-flew as we cut through the ocean sipping on our cold beers and having soulful conversations. It took us a moment to comprehend the overflowing feeling of joy to see the beauty of this white sand island. Can you guess the first thing we did after checking into our rooms? – We rented bi-cycles and went across this small island to create memories. It took us all day to cover the island on our bikes but it was worth-it.\n\nIn Gili we stayed at Hotel Villa Ombok. We opted for their Ombok hut which is a traditional balinese hut with all amenities like AC, TV, etc. and an open air bathroom in the back. Trust me when I say this – The experience of an open air bathroom is out of this world.\n\nGet to this island to enjoy, relax, grab a drink by the beach side and enjoy the beautiful sun-sets which will leave a mark on your soul. Gili islands are also great for surfing and you can find many surfers flocking around to surf on the high tides near these islands. Water is crystal clear because – LESS HUMANS. There are amazing restaurants by the beach serving delicious delicacies, it is a paradise for sea-food lovers as you get authentic sea-food to spend time sitting right next to the beach with a beautiful view and sound of the waves crashing to the shore.\n\nMoving on from a relaxing place to a luxurious one because that is what honeymoons are meant for. Our last stop in Bali was at Ubud, where we stayed in Maya resort and spa, Ubud.Spending a night here was more of an influenced decision as we got know about this amazing resort from a friend who visited here the previous year and was all praises. This resort is mix of modern facilities with purity of Balinese culture. (THIS IS BUILT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN FOREST).\n\nWe had made some serious efforts to include this in our package as it did cost us a fortune, but it was totally worth it. With the warm and friendly staff trying their best to make you comfortable, to amazing range of spas that they have to offer by the river side will make you never want not leave this place at all. They have a natures walk which will lead you to a waterfall on one side and a River Side Restaurant on the other. One advise of caution, do wear proper shoes and spray insect/mosquito repellent before going for the nature’s walk. They also have a great range of sumptuous breakfast options and I bet you just cant stop eating. We had booked a Deluxe Pool Villa and we were absolutely awestruck when we entered the Villa. It was a task to remind ourselves that we were there only for a day as we both were never ready to leave. \n\nFor all the instagrammers and photgraphers when in Bali, do not miss visiting Uluwatu temple. This temple is situated at the top of a cliff right next to Indian Ocean and the best time to visit Uluwatu temple is during sunset. You will not be able to enter the temple but the view from the top is something you will be unable to forget in your lifetime. The view is a absolutely beautiful as the sky changes color as the sun goes down. A word of caution again, beware of the monkeys roaming freely around this temple, they are harmless but tend to snatch things from the visitors there.\n\nIf visiting Uluwatu temple in the evening then do attend the Kecak dance show (pronounced as Kechak). Kecak show depicts Ramayana in the form of dance. It is performed in an open air amphitheatre near Uluwatu temple. The beautiful dance show is one of the most awesome dance performances with no instruments being used rather people synchronizing their voices. (DO NOT MISS THIS).\n\nFor all the coffee lovers, there are many coffee plantations in Bali. You can visit these plantations and taste the many flavors they have to offer. You can also learn about the various health benefits of different types of coffee they have to offer. Also, please don’t forget to pet the Civet Cat as that animal is going to be either the reason you are going to be enlightened or might just leave having coffee in any form whatsoever.\n\nLeisure Traveller Recommends:-\n\n.Different flavours of Bintang Beer. My favourite is Radler- Beer & Lemon flavour.\n\n.Soup Ubuntu- Delicious Ox-tail soup.\n\n.Sip coffee while seated in the coffee plantation.

(35) I was in aw! Such a beautiful place to see!! I would definitely recommend seeing this temple and the sunset is out of this world!!
(36) Wonderful view! Just amazing!\nBut you should be ready to spend around hour or 1,5 to reach this place by motorbike ( from Seminyak). Traffic jam was 😰😰😰!\nBeautiful temple that could be reached only during the low tide.
(37) The temple is nice located at the edge of the lake with the backdrop of the mountains and has folks of people pouring in everyday. It was raining when we reached there but nonetheless it was so nice. You cannot miss this one while on your trip to Bali!
(38) Another lovely place to enjoy the Balinese sunset. Because of the low tide, we could walk all the way to the temple. The sounds of the crashing waves were really something.
(39) We were quite disappointed about this temple. Not nearly as nice as we expected it - there are other temples and places that are way more worth the visit, the time and the money. If you pass anyway, it's ok to have a look. But no detours or extra planning recommended - that's my opinion.
(40) I had seen pictures of this temple and wanted to visit it . It certainly stands out from the usual temples. When the tide is in , the temple set on the rocks appears to be ‘ floating’ when The tide is out ,you can walk over to it ( but you don’t get up into it as that is only for worship ) Just across from the temple is an open fronted sort of cave where you can see the’ holy snakes’ . A man is handling them ( and there is a donation box) and he offers to let you hold or touch them but we declined .... as these are sea snakes , and from what I remember , they are poisonous !\nThey are quite stunning to see though as they are black and white .
(41) It was so hot and somewhat crowded. We went around 1100am which was too late in the day. The views are incredible and thats what you are really there for. The temple was less than impressive but blow away by the scenery overlooking the Indian Ocean.
(42) This is the place that I loved most in Bali. The sunset view was awesome. There is nothing much like temple. The only best reason to go there is for viewing this awesome sunset which appear like sun drowning into the Sea. The temple was very small and built with different type of stone. It is closed and we cannot go into it. If it was also allowed it would be more and more fantastic.
(43) It is a temple situated on the seashore. The top most temple can be accessed only by the locals and not by tourists to maintain the sanctity of the place. Below it, there is a cave where you can taste sweet water.
(44) Do not miss this place on your trip to Bali, and try to make it there during sunset. Absolutely stunning. One of teh best sunset views I've seen. The cliff with sounds waves crashing on it was absolutely blissful. The temple grounds were beautiful but the temple itself was kinda small and off-limits to visitors. Beware of the monkeys thou' The best views of sunset and cliffs are had from the temple itself so pry yourself away from the crowds once you arrive.
(45) The temple itself looks very nice, partly built on the lake, which itself is beautiful enough. The crowds of tourists partly spoil the impression, and the locals adapted, so now it is hard to tell which part of the temple is genuine (built in 17th century) and what is freshly made for tourists. There is some real junk like an egg-shaped cottage or artificial stone gate where tourists can take more of their trashy pictures.
(46) This temple is on the edge of beautiful steep rocks on the West shore of the southernmost part of Bali. You won't be able to get into the temple itself, but you will have the chance to walk around the cliffs and get stunning views of the temple itself and the sea with some powerful and big waves.
(47) Spectacular view!! Very nice and huge temple near the mountain... perfect place to meditate, lots of trees! Don't forget your sarong!
(48) This is a very nice and scenic temple. The backdrop of the lake is beautiful and it is worthwhile for a quick visit. The downsides it does take a while to get there and there were a TON of other tourists there.
(49) It is a one of a kind temple located near the sea., The way to the temple was a bit crowded but tried to get close to the temple itself. Balinese men blessed me with prayers I didn't understand and they put a something on my forehead right after the prayer. T
(50) This is the place to be if you want to see a beautiful sunset. You will need to walk on the stone pathway to get to the temple, however you are not allowed to enter. You can get some really pictures at this place.
(51) We did enjoy this temple and sight a lot. I do not understand everybody stays in front of the temple instead of walking 100 meters over the beach to the left, where you have a much better view / picture. Also do walk to the cliff on the other side because on the other side of that cliff there is a view of a nice rock arch in the sea and a surfers beach
(52) This temple is located on a small island which gets submerged during high tide and the path reappears during low tide. Viewing the temple against the backdrop of the sunset is a splendid sight.\nBe cautious. The rocks are slippery.
(53) We went around 2 pm and stayed for 2 hours. It's a nice view and they have a lot of nicely landscaped areas to walk around as well as a lot of stores in the area. Don't expect anything too fancy, and you won't be disappointed. You can't actually enter the temple, and at high tide, you can't even walk across for holy water or whatever it is. I found that it didn't bother me at all, and if it was having that option but also having to fight a crowd, I'd much rather just enjoy the view with fewer people around.
(54) A spectacular view from the top of a steep cliff overlooking the unique architecture temple built with the palm front roof standing magnificiently prooving its divinity. More than amazed standing by the cliff, feeling its breeze and viewing its majestic beauty located on the white beach with the waves lapping against the cliffs forming white foam at the foot of it. Slimpy stunning especially with the golden opportunity to witness the almost sun setting.
(55) The temple is smaller than expected but beautiful on the lake It’s a 3 hour drive from Jimbaran so full day trip but if you have the time it’s a culture shot you see terraced rice paddies from top of mountain too
(56) Lovely spot situated on the edge of the lake. Very scenic.\nVery popular with tourists so I would suggest getting here early if you want to miss the crowds.\nNice to see locals worshiping at the temple and families picnicking around the grounds.\nIf you have time to spare I would imagine that you could easily spend a good part of the day soaking up the views, people watching etc.
(57) Lovely temple and perfect photo op. Set in the water, with the lake and mountains behind it, makes the temple quite beautiful. Very enjoyable! \n\nWe were there when it was misty and then it did rain. So the view wasn't as spectacular as it might have been.
(58) Not really a temple person, great view of blue point beach, very busy though with tour busses pulling up, went there from Kuta by scooter and experienced the country side
(59) Went here at low tide, so we were able to walk out to the small island it was on. After being told to wash our feet and being *blessed* we headed up the walk way to the temple.....only one problem....no one get to go to the top, so I didnt understand why we had to be blessed. After leaving the little island, you dont want to be desperate to go to the toilet, a group of dirty looking men will charge you 3000 rups to pee in a hole in the ground....this was the icing on the cake when it came to finish off the disappointment. I can understand how much this place must mean to the Balinese and how beautiful it must look in the evening when the sun is setting but honestly i could have missed this whole experience.
(60) too bad we cannot go inside the temple. It is closed for prayer only. But the outside, the natural setting and the beautiful views from the cliffs are breathtaking especially during sunset. |
