(1) While you can drive up and see the temple, it was well-worth it to wake up early and see the temple while it was still quiet. The lake was placid and beautiful and it was gorgeous to see the first light reflected off this \floating\" temple. To do this kind of trip, just ask your the staff at your accommodation for help arranging,, make sure to take a long-sleeve shirt (it can be chilly on the water in the morning)...and enjoy!"
(2) The evenings get very busy. You can walk around but can't go inside the temple. Take waterproof shoes because you can get wet when the tide starts to come in.
(3) This was a beautiful temple to visit at sunset. The only downfall for us was the amount of traffic getting to the temple. There's one way in, and one way out. We were there a few days after Christmas and it took over 2 hours to get there due to the traffic. Despite the crowds and traffics, it was still worth the visit!
(4) I order to see the temple you must walk by hundreds of market stalls. Usually theses are at the end of a site not at the beginning. It is sort of annoying when one came from afar to see the temple. Having said that, the merchants were not aggressive. The temple itself is lovely but very busy. Apparently it is the most photographed temple in Bali. When the tide is out you can walk around the base of the temple. The scenery is beautiful.
(5) The temple is located on a cliff-side overlooking the Ocean and offers amazing views over the open sea. The temple is reached through a tree lined path overlooking the ocean and offers a lot of photo-opportunities of the surf breaking against the cliffs below.\n\nThe temple complex is fairly big and includes rest areas and an amphitheater holding regular cultural performances in addition to the shrines. For the nature lovers, there are walking trails leading from the temple into the greenery beyond. Again these trails are overlooking the ocean and offer very good views. Beware of the local monkeys though which inhabit the temple and its surroundings.\n\nThe temple is also a popular point for watching the sunset. Be sure to reach early though to catch the best viewing spot.\n\nNot to be missed if you are in Bali.
(6) It is marvelous temple inside the lake and mountains as background. Need to pay an entrance fee of 30000 IDR per pax.\n\nThe atmosphere around the temple is soo peaceful and everyone would like to spend some time here.
(7) You can see the beautiful sunset and drink the holy water. The waves is quiet big so you also can surf here. There is a holy snake inside the temple where you can touch it.
(8) Good place to take pictures with partners, friends, or family. The activity just see, walk around the temple, not so much you can do.
(9) Had to wake up early around 4 for avoiding the crowd and it's worth it. The iconic gate is at the first temple and there are 7 temples. It takes around 3-4 hours going up and down depending on your legs muscle condition. We suggest coming here for sunset if you don't mind queuing 1 hour or 2. 4 chances for a good shot 😂😂 so be prepared.
(10) When there is no cloud, temple has fantastic view at the sunset. It is crowded and getting there may be a big issue. So prefer to go at least 1,5 hours before the sunset. Do not be limited only with the view of the temple. Go until the end of the seaside, climb the rocks. If you do not want to spend time in the traffic jam, leave just after the sunset.
(11) Did not get a chance to see this temple during our last visit to Bali, but it was worth the wait. After an 80 minute drive from Ubud on a Monday mid afternoon, we arrived around 4:15 pm before most of the buses arrived to see the 6:30 pm sunset. Took a couple of scenic photos and ate at one of the cliff restaurants on the North side for an excellent view of the sunset. Will return next year again just for the view.\n\nBonus: Actually found cheap, stylish sunglasses for 50,000 IDR (under $4) along the route to the temple that we usually see selling in Spain, Italy and Korea for $10.
(12) The area is beautiful, with the black rocks and the high waves. Entrance is 60000rph, + 3000 for parking. The temple itself is closed to the public, there is access to a holy well in the bottom of it, where for a donation you can wash tour face in the holy water. To get there you have to walk through the sea, so flip flops are a good idea. You can also see the holy snakes for a donation of course, and even touch them and make a wish. They bring the snakes around 2 pm. There are some restaurants high on the rocks overlooking the temple that are a bit pricey but with an amazing view.
(13) The view is absolutely perfect, Bali's must-visit. \nBut there are people who train monkeys to grab your belongings and then ask you for money. Another thing is that, as the temple was a little bit far from downtown, the local taxi drivers WILL RIP YOU OFF. I would recommend going there by tour, rent a car, use Uber, etc. NEVER EVER use taxi in Bali unless u don't have a choice.
(14) This temple at the lake is very beautiful, but also very crowded with tourists. Who like to take pictures at lake part of the temple. The views of the lake in addition to the temple is nice as well.\n\nEntrance fee 40000 rupiah.
(15) When you look up Bali online, you'll almost certainly see this temple. It's iconic.\n\nSo when we went to Bali, we insisted on seeing this for ourselves. We were staying near Ubud so getting to the lake took over an hour. But we were glad we went. The temple sits out on a lake, surrounded by mountains. If you get just the right angle, the view is spectacular. \n\nThe challenge is that nearly every other angle means throngs of tourists. If this place was once a bastion of spiritualism, it's long since been lost. Don't get me wrong, the grounds are gorgeous and it's worth seeing but don't expect to find \Eat Pray Love\" here (there are better temples for that).\n\nThe worst part is that whoever runs that venue made it far worse than it had to be. They actually have a statue of Sponge Bob as an exit sign. Seriously? Fortunately, this is far from the main temple and lake views but it was still a sad testament to the once spiritual location centuries ago."
(16) I loved this place because even if there are a lot of tourists in the area, this place has still served its purpose for the locals. \nThe place is cold, and overlooking the lake, the temple was such a beauty in it.
(17) We come there during mist so place was completely magical for us. Temple in the mist located in the lake and it is surrounded colorful flowers. It is not place for spending a lot of hours, but for sure it is worth to see. The park is very clean. According to me the place is overpriced, because area of temple is quite small. When you go there, don’t forget to take some jacket. The place is in higher altitude, that’s way temperature goes down. If you want to stay at night be sure, your hotel have at least warm blanket and hot water.
(18) Interesting sight, this is a private temple to the royals and people can not enter in. The temple is a mystical figure to me and appeared like carved out of the volcano lava. The location is beautiful and sunsets on a clear sky makes the place looks dramatically beautiful. I loved the kind of hollows waves made to the base of the temple structure. Really interesting and treat to eyes I must say.
(19) One of the major attraction in Bali. Lots of tourists, Great natural view and famous temple on the water. We loved the place and it's a perfect spot for some nice photo memories.
(20) We have visited this temple in the morning in order to avoid lots of tourists.\n\nIt was really nice ! Lots of point of view for photos.\n\nBe carefull with monkeys, they are like ninja... they can steal very quickly your glasses/hat/whatever... It s really funny when it not happens to you :)\n\nBy the way, i read lot of post of people « scammed » .\n\nThe price is 30000 rupiah then you have to pay your driver. Remember that you have to negociate the price of your driver. We paid for 300k rupiah for the round trip since Jimbaran Beah but before this, we came to Blue point.
(21) A different and special temple. It is definitely worth seeing. Very nice photos. It looks very nice behind the ocean.
(22) The temple is beautifully and views from cliffs spectacular. Fair price for entry and free to park Beware of haughty mommies as they will steal anything in sight although if j am not mistaken they seem well trained to bring most items back to trainer who rewards with banana or nuts !\nPlenty of refreshments at reasonable prices\nEasy to find
(23) There were tons of people at the temple. They do charge a fee and the street is lines up with shops... Imagine that. Shops are everywhere in Bali. Lol great view and story as to why the temple is there. We ate at the resturaunt nearby and the food was nice. Everyone goes at sunset to get great sunset shots. Nice to have the sunset in background.
(24) Definitely a must-see if you are in Bali. We were there on a day when the locals were out in full force for prayers and offerings. Upon seeing the temple, you are just awestruck by the sight of the temple on the rock outcrop. Add to that live Balinese music and you know why the place is so revered by the Balinese people.
(25) Nice place, clean, good atmosfer. Wow amazing. This place good for Hindu people for praying. And also you Will see the dance.
(26) It is one of the temples to go and see and it is worth the trip. Perched on a rock with the waves pounding into it the site is worth wandering around. We went reasonably early in the morning and there were very few people there...which was a bonus.
(27) Land and sea join together for this 16 th century temple sitting on a big offshore rock at Tabanan in Bali with entry depending on ocean tide every day. Myth and beauty blended by nature. It's only 20 km from the airport. One among the seven sea temples . Sea God is the main deity . Believed to be protected by a giant snake with serpent cave on the sea shore. Offerings to the temple can be made only by locals. Renovation has been done to retain the temple from damages due to sea erosions. Entering the temple from the mainland depends on low tide. A very beautiful attraction on the Balinese coast. Not to miss !
(28) It is a very good place to see a sunset after a full day trip, there are some restaurant around the top of the hill in front of the Temple, you can order some drink and sit with your friends to enjoy the sunset.
(29) Ive been lucky enough to visit the Temple a few times and the place get very crowded at time more so around sunset\nit is very lovely \nWhen in Bali next put it on your list
(30) We went on a clear sunny day and spent a lot of time looking at the temple, the views by the lake and reading the history of the place, which is written and painted in the park.
(31) If I could, I would rate this place 6 out of 5. The temple is nicely located beside the sea, and the beach has nice waves. But the best part is the sunset view. No words to describe it's beauty and the feeling it gives. Make sure you are there latest by 6pm local time, as that's when the sun starts setting and it will fully set by around 6.15pm.
(32) Such a beautiful place!! Mountain, sea and sky- all together. From different point it looks different. Take your time to visit the place. Go down to the beach. Enjoy the touch of the sea. Large, strong waves!! \n\nThe place is a bit crowdy for being a famous tourist spot. You will also see many religious people there. Entering into the temple is restricted so you wont be able to visit the temple. But not a big deal. Just enjoy the nature.
(33) One of the many temples you will visit on your Bali trip. There are 3 temples in the same location. The views are very nice. We took a lot of photos. Must visit the temples just for the views. We didn’t stay for the sunset as it was cloudy. Irrespective a must visit place in Bali. I recommend taking an entire day trip of 3-4 temples as the famous tourist temples in Bali are located at very picturesque places. Note: You just see the temples from outside. You are not permitted to enter the temples.
(34) The temple is situated on top of a rock, almost resembling an island with water all around and on the beach.\nMost photographed of all Bali I believe and obviously no one would miss in their trip.\nVisited Oct 2018
(35) Strictly from a tourist perspective (our guide said locals come here for religious purposes), i found this place to be disappointing. The road leading up to the water is stacked w/ retailers of nearly every sort ...clothes, food, services, etc. The temple was rather small and the crowds were very thick. You see it in all the brochures, etc. so you feel compelled to go check it out..in the end, i would have preferred not spending the 2++ hours of driving thru heaving traffic to see this temple. It wasn't worth the time and effort for me.
(36) This is an iconic place to see the sun set over the water, right next to a temple.\nThis is a very touristy area - hundreds of people come each sunset and there is an entry fee of 30,000 Rupiah for adults (I think there was also a child & family rate).\nI was disappointed that you couldn't actually go up into the temple - but suppose it would get extremely crowded there if allowed.\nWear water-friendly footwear, as waves do crash up onto the rocks. As with many other beach areas there is a bit of rubbish around.\nAlso, take tissues & hand sanitiser - the bathrooms we used didn't have paper or hand washing facilities and they still asked for a donation of 3000 Rupiah each.\nThere are markets, food stalls and a couple of restaurants on the walk to/from the car park.
(37) I was staying in Jimbaran, quite a distance from this place but after looking at the beautiful pictures on Google, I decided to go. It was raining all along the way to the temple and as soon as we parked our car in the temple parking, the rain stopped. Than mist enveloped the lake, oh my god what a breathtaking veiw it was. I was confused if to take pictures or just soak it all in. When the mist lifted and temples came into veiw, I was done in by the beauty. You could just stand for hours soaking in everything or just bust ypur camera battery while clicking. Just go there.
(38) Very beautiful place if you just ignore the Sponge Bob figure on your way in. Perfect spot to just wonder around and observe the culture. Do recommend that you respect the culture when you visit this place, after all it's a temple, meaning cover your shoulders and knees. I was wearing a T and shorts, so just wrapped a sari around my waist and so did the men. Not kidding but it was very embarrassing to see tourist wonder the place with only wearing hotpants and bralette. Just keep in mind, that if there's a one place you need to cover up in Bali, this would probably be it.
(39) The fact that this marvelous and beautiful natural experience can exist makes even nonbelievers believe in a higher power.
(40) We visited this temple on a day trip from the Nandini Resort in Payangang near Ubud.\nWe arrived around mid day which is a quiet time to visit the temple so it's a relaxed without the crowds that come for sunsets.
(41) Our driver brought us here as a last stop on our trip up to Ubud from Nusa Dua and whilst we were exhausted we caught a second wind the minute we saw the temples. Absolutely breathtaking. This is what we imagined Bali to be - beautiful coastline, stunning temples and street vendors on every corner. \n\nWe were there in April and the area was full of tourists. Not too crowded but you did have to wait for tourists to move on in order to snap the perfect photo. \n\nIf you have the time, hang around for sunset. There are plenty of cafes up to the left where you can get a reasonably priced cocktail and watch the sun go down. We headed home before the full sunset but even 5:00pm sent beautiful colours across the sky. \n\nIf you're in Bali make the effort to see this. We'll be coming back every trip!
(42) The beauty, the spirit, the atmosphere, the people, balinese smiles. All of that are unforgettable. The holy and legend black&white snake, the holy fresh water. Very sacred place.
(43) Nice place to visit, this is the last stop when getting back from Ulundanu Bratan Lake Temple. but couldn't be there for the sun set.\n\nVery beautiful temple, must visit. there are photographers who take pictures. price is reasonable and all photographers charge the same amount. so no bargaining and do not waste time, finding a cheap photographer :)\n\nthey ask for donation to enter the temple, its ok to drop a small note but do not waste money on the cave donation to see the snake. \n\nThanks
(44) Come early in the morning to avoid the crowds and busses. When you do this you have the place almost to yourself. It is beautiful to see the temple in the lake with the mountains in the background. The obligatory souvenir/snack shops are present at the entrance of the complex but they do not bother you, the place is well run.
(45) The temple is set high on a cliff and the views are amazing. Apart from that, the location was average. Didn't really get to see much of the temple itself as it was being used by locals at the time to worship. Guides seemed more interested in getting their tip than actually telling you about the place. For the history buffs, a must visit. For the tourist, OK I suppose. Be prepared for bus loads of other tourists at the same time.
(46) We reached around noon and there was full tide, blocking the way to the temple. Picture of the temple is nice, but there are too many tourists, shops and restaurants.
(47) Lovely temple - nice surrounds - kids liked the statues. Was nice to visit as it wasn't overcrowded and wasn't surrounded in markets like some others.
(48) Well worth a visit, for adults and children alike. I liked the surroundings, the forest with the old temple in its midst. Cal, peaceful, cool in the midday heat
(49) Wijaya, My Balinese friend said that This temple is the final resting place of the Hindu priest named Niarta (nirata, nirta .... sorry I do not really remember the name). It is said that he died without leaving a body, like a breeze, simply vanished. According to the Balinese, the dying process is called \moksha\" (thanks to Google)....\nAccording to Wijaya, not everyone can \"moksha\", only people who have no sin."
(50) the temple and surrounding area is very nice and you can spend 2-3 hours just looking at the cliffs and watching the waves , would go back .
(51) We have been longing to visit this place since last visit to Bali. This is a famous spot , with a temple floating on water. This is also the icon of Bali, which appears in all Bali postcards or books.\nBring a thin jacket with you, because here is windy all year long.\nFantastic!
(52) This temple in western side of Beratan Lake, up in Bali’s central highlands with rounding mountains the mountain range provides the temple with its hazy, dreamy backdrop.\nThe striking scenery and cool atmosphere of these uplands have made the temple site a favourite sightseeing and recreational spot for visitors.\nwhen go bali, must spent some time here.
(53) What a view, beautiful place to take it all in we got there in the afternoon to watch the sun set over the temple it was breathtaking it some wonderfull photos and the markets are great too!!
(54) This is very famous temple due to its location next to the lake. Temple itself is pretty small and not too much to see there. One of main stops on a north tourist loop.
(55) I know, I see all these great reviews but I didn't think it was great. Out of all the temples I've seen, I didn't think this one was anything I'd recommend. Yes, the views are awesome - it's on top of a cliff and there's nothing but blue water... however, I went in the middle of the day so it was hot and packed... I couldn't walk a few steps without someone bumping into me. And you can't actually go into the temple (for religious reasons which I can understand).\n\nI much preferred Tanah Lot, but if you do plan on visiting please dress respectfully. They provide you with a sarong for those who's knee's aren't covered, or they give you a sash to wear for those who are in long skirts.
(56) Watching the sun set over the temple is a holiday highlight. Not a massive amount to see at the temple and you can't get onto the rock, but that isn't a put off. The tide comes right round the rock itself and you can locate yourself comfortably at a number of bars that are located on the cliff top opposite. Perfect for sunset watching in style.
(57) Upon arrival you are surrounded by vendors everywhere. When you finally venture down to the temple it is beautiful. Visitors are not allowed to enter. Would recommend going during low tide so that you can walk around the temple
(58) We spent about 3 hours at the temple. sadly we were not allowed inside the temple but nevertheless it was a good place to visit by the sea. Unfortunately the sea was rough so we did not dare to walk across the temple. Some shopping for souveniers can be done but do bargain.
(59) This was one of the temples visted during my full day tour: 4 temples, 3 lakes, coffee plantation (famous Luwak coffee), rice fields, Fruit market, Traditional Fire Dance, lunch and dinner on Jimbaran Beach! If you're up for achallenge, do it! \n\nAbsolutely enjoyed every moment with my incredible local guide, Dika -+6287861367868 (WA), totally recommend him. The streets of Bali are filled with scooters, so having someone skilled at navigating tge area is a plus!\n\nPicked up at 8am returned to hotel around 9:15pm. The tour is lots driving through local villages, you really get up and close with Bali streets and culture; peeking into locals world as they go about there daily routines.\n\nNote: Do not recommend for kids under 10 and those with health issues, this tour is for the adventurous type of personalities!

(60) Absolutely mesmerizing, took a taxi ,picked us up from our hotel .It was an hour away ,through nice scenic drive. We arrived around 9am and just caught the end part of the prayer ceremony.Tide was low so we were able to walk across to the temple. If you like something here ,buy it .. you won't find again it in local markets |
