(1) This was probably my favorite temple in Bali. Note, they recently DOUBLED their admission price from 30K to 60K. It is definitely the most popular tourist site on the island so they can get away with it. It does not really take too long to see but I hung around a while to see sunset. I would never count on a good sunset on this island. 9/10 times it will be blocked by clouds. When I got there around 4:30, you could not walk across without your feet getting wet. Low tide was right around sunset so by then I could easily walk across without touching water. You can eat dinner or get a drink up on the cliff with a nice view from above. However there are plenty of free areas higher up where you can get an excellent view.
(2) The temple was serene, beautiful, clean a place to be with your own thoughts. The view over the ocean was breathtaking. The walk along the cliff was peaceful and many places to just stop and enjoy the view.
(3) The unique of this temple is located in an island and with a clear blue sky and sea makes the view even more significant. I must say without the crowd you will enjoy alot of the view.
(4) The temple is located at one of the most scenic places in Bali. Watching the sun set into the sea is an exceptional experience.
(5) A hindu temple located on the shore line, at low tide you can walk across and reach the steps of the building, at high tide it is cut off from the main land, but the cost of going in is the most expensive of the temples at 60k rupiah per adult
(6) Beautiful! The famous temple that is on the 50.000 bill! There's nice views and beautiful gardens to look at too.
(7) This was one of our stops on our day trip from Ubud.\n\nA beautiful temple situated on a picturesque lake. Lovely spot for photos. \n\nBut overrun with tourists and it's difficult to really enjoy the atmosphere - which I would have imagined to be calm and serene. \n\nI think it would probably be a lot more interesting to go when there is a ceremony.\n\nIt's okay to do if you are on your way somewhere else but I wouldn't drive all the way just for this.
(8) Very scenic and superb temple in Bali with lake and mountains. Located at Highland of Bali the environment and climate is not so hot, but cold and refreshing.\nThere are temples that visited one, seen them all. This is a must visit in Bali.\nHighly recommended also to stop on the road to go and take a view of the mountains ans lake.
(9) Mixed feelings about this temple. Definitely scenic, provides lovely photo opp with lake and mountain as backdrop. Not as large as I had expected. Adjacent temples are out of bounds. Down side is sheer number of tourists (admittedly was weekend, but not near peak season in Bali) and tacky amusements nearby, which all detract. Worth visiting, but combine with other destinations to make long time in car worth while.
(10) Love this place. One of unique and popular tourist spot in Bali.\nYou will see an amazing view when the sea level rise up where the temple is on the rock in the middle of the sea.
(11) We had a 2 hours drive because of this temple and... we were a little bit dissapointed.\nHonestly, the parking lot full of cars and busses, many people, expensive and not good food (for buffet 96 000 IDR / 6 euro). \nAnd in October we found a dry lake, so the famous \temple on the water\" is not on the water. I think, a half of charm is missing. Like everywhere: a big part of the temple is closed for visitors. \nSo, the only interesting thing was to see Bratan the lake, to go to the view point and check the orher 2 lakes of Bali (by the way, at this point view there is a cute restaurant). Lunch for 3 person - 129 000 IDR.\nIf you have something else to see arround, then go. But if you drive just because of the temple, I'm not sure, if it is worth."
(12) There is an entrance fee for the temple of 15k rupiah if I remembered correctly. From the entrance you will walk through a well kept temple compound before arriving at the waterfront. From there find a spot to take a postcard quality photo of the temple on water, against the backdrop of the hill and lake.\n\nThis is perhaps the most beautiful temple in Bali.
(13) This temple is located nearly an hour or more from Ubud in the central mountain region of Bali. The air is clean and crisp and the surrounding scenery is gorgeous. Getting down to the temple you walk through some gardens and then the temple appears on the lake. It’s different than others we’ve seen in Bali and we’re glad we stopped, as we were in the region. On the way out, there is a small playground, where the kids can expel some energy before getting back in the car.
(14) Inside the Ocean there is Temple and Balineese people are doing prayers.\nThere are Four Temples we have seen in this place.\nView of Beach and Temple is Great
(15) We have been travelling around Bali for almost 3 weeks now without any hassle. We were told by our legitimate Blue Bird taxi driver that he was only able to drop us off at this particular temple, but he'd wait for us up the road after we were finished. The temple itself isn't anything spectacular when it comes to Indonesian standards. The view is also accessible for free anywhere else so the 40000 RP are not exactly worth it. The most frustrating part for us was that after we had finished; we were walking up the road to meet back up with our driver where we were greeted by the most awful men who were all harassing our driver to leave so that they could try and offer us their illegal, extremely over priced cab rides. We learned this temple pays men to ride around on motorcycles threatening Blue Bird taxi drivers. \n\nIn short, we ended up walking 2.5km up the road where our gracious Blue Bird cab driver had to wait for us. \n\nI would seriously think twice about entering this temple as it is a money grab at all levels.
(16) Tourists are not allowed near the temple, let alone inside. The whole experience is a tourist trap. You pay an entrance fee of 60k IDR (4 USD) to walk through quite a few souvenir shops and food kiosks, and end up in a coastline photo site with a temple. All you are supposed to do here is take a picture and stand in line for some “holy water” blessing under the rock, which looked more like a Hinduism package for tourists than the real thing.
(17) This is one of the most beautiful temples in Bali and is not to be missed! The back drop of the lake surrounded by mountains is absolutely fabulous. You feel transported to a different world! Loved it!!
(18) This was just another temple for us, but we still very much enjoyed it and were captured by the beauty of the view!\nThe main difference with this one is that it was more taken take care of. The garden for sure has maintenance. \nThe price was 30,000 which is not too high. \nSaw some monkeys which is always cool. Overall beautiful
(19) Absolutely heaving with tourists and selfie sticks. Feels like a total tourist trap, although prices at the market were reasonable. Entry price was low but much higher than other temples (which were way less busy and calmer).\n\nWould definitely recommend anyone to go and visit any other temple.
(20) It's a place where you have to stay when you visit Bali. It was not the best temple for us but the area is really nice. Good between stop.
(21) One of the best temple on bali you should go for visit. Yes..it is so far away eastern part of Bali but totally worth it. We loved Bali so much
(22) Beautiful place to visit in Bali. I am not a really temple lover but I enjoyed this one. Try to go early cause could be really hot around mid day
(23) Very picturesque complex with water features and old temple area. Cooler area as it is higher in the hills than other palace/temples.
(24) Beautiful temple located in an amazing scenery. The views are breath-taking with a lake and mountains in the background. Definitely a must visit when in Bali
(25) Our private driver recommended we visit here and I'm glad we did. The temple was incredible and rage views were amazing. Even if you don't enjoy looking at temples this one may just change your mind!
(26) A place with nice view of Indian Ocean and ancient temples.\nWe visit this place every time we come to Bali. Recently it has seen some good improvements such as better carpark , nice pavements etc.\nThere are shops selling souvenirs and other stuffs.
(27) This is one temple worth visiting. It is located next to a beautiful lake. The drive from Ubud took about an hour and the drive was breathtaking. I just can't get over how beautiful the alter is and how tranquil the place is. \nI felt a connection with the place the minute I stepped in the temple. \nThis is a great place to bring the family and children.
(28) This temple is on the Ocean. The views are fantastic. The grounds are lovely. I could have spent hours just viewing the ocean and the temple site. I highly recommend this as a stop on your Balinese holiday.
(29) Done a lot of temples with a 6 and 8 year old. They have struggled a little with them, but this one did have a play park in the grounds and made a big difference. There is beautiful views over the lake and the temple. Makes nice pictures.
(30) This place is must see Temple for every one visiting Bali. The Temple is surrounded by a lake, Beautiful flowers, green grass. We traveled in Mid May and the weather was cold here, different from the rest of Bali.\nThe roads to the temple passes through not so high altitude, but the road side views heading to the temple are awesome !!!
(31) I was really looking forward to this spot as the photo is just gorgeous, but was a disappointed that all it turned out to be was a walk across rocky water that you almost fall over in just to pay money to be blessed and only get to stand out the outside edge and not go into the temple. Apparently there is a day you can go into it but I didn't understand the English to pass on accurate details, sorry.\nThe scenery surrounding was very beautiful,
(32) Wasn't overwhelmed by this temple at all though judging from other reviews we came at the wrong time of day. We came late afternoon but missed the sunset. \n\nIt was full of tourists taking selfies and there's not any information given that you can read and then understand the temple and its history more.
(33) It was a very beautiful temple with beautiful flowers.we stayed in this place about 4hours and we loved it.
(34) One of the most important temple in Bali. We went there for sunset. In a cave there is the holy snake. You can donate to see it (maybe tourist trap). The area of temple is very big so you should have 2 hours to see everything.
(35) First off, the fee is 30,000 rupiah per person (foreigner rate). After that, you simply walk to the temple. It is a few minutes away from the entrance. I suggest bringing sunblock or an umbrella. We went there around 1pm and it was scorching hot! You will be exposed under the sun.\n\nSecondly, it can get really crowded there. Lots of people trying to take the best photos and some of them won't budge from an area once they think they found the best spot for their photos. \n\nAnyway, there is nothing much to say about the temple. It is pretty straightforward. It is definitely unique. I would only recommend this to people who simply just want to take pictures of the temples in Bali.\n\nTip: haggle with the prices of souvenir. I was able to buy a Bintang tank top for 25,000. But when I asked, the original price they told me was 50,000. 50% of the price they tell you should be fine.
(36) Nice view of the temple on the sunset with windy beach and great ambience. The shops were reasonably priced. Also not to miss the sunset at 6.15 PM and nice photo shoots. The crossing of the sea to the temple is something worth a try.
(37) The way to temple is pleasant, also the surroundings. You will be having nice views of sea while going up to the temple. It's a small walk from the parking area. The temple is usual Balinese temple, but the way and surroundings make it worth visiting.
(38) This temple is only interesting by it's position. On other side, this place is full of tourists and access to the temple itself is not possible if you are not Hindu.
(39) The temple itself is really average. But the back drop view is really breath taking. The sunset show is worth the watch especially since it teaches you something about the local bali culture.
(40) I found their rules to enter the temple offensive to westerners. However it was a beautiful site and view.
(41) You have to see this place, especially if you are a photographer. Hopefully you'll get to see a Hindu ceremony as we did. Relax in the garden area. Grab something to drink on a warm day. Sit by the Lake and just take it all in.
(42) Locals come here for sunsets on Sundays as a tradition (so if you don't like crowds, avoid this day of the week), we were here during daytime and it was still amazing. Low tide, so we could walk to the temple. Lots of people though, even off season. Make sure you walk all the way up the reef where all the shops and restaurants are, and have a fresh coconut with an exquisite view of the temple. There's also a Kopi luwak (civet coffee) café, where the owner has 4 civets from different corners of Indonesia and explains the whole proces of making luwak coffee. Worth visiting!
(43) This temple is one that should be on your must see list. Even though it is a bit out of the way it is well worth the trip. The grounds are beautiful and the floating temple makes for great pictures.
(44) It is a temple built essentially on a small island kind of \in\" the sea, so that it would be cut off at high tide, but aside from some interesting views you don't actually see that much. Still, the views are great, and it's a cool idea, and there's a good feel to the place, so I wouldn't re-arrange a schedule to see it but I suppose it was worth an extra hour in the car. About that market beside it, essentially every temple has that, so if you see a half-dozen you'd see it a half-dozen times, selling the same things, sarongs, etc. Some seemed to have better deals than others, on exactly the same items, with this one probably more expensive because it's higher on the must-see list, so probably not the best place to buy a t-shirt."
(45) Try going during the low tide time so that you can walk across to the main temple. Its a mystical place and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Worth the visit. Can get a bit crowded though.
(46) Awestruck with the architecture and scenic beauties of the temple amidst sea! But must and should carry your sunglasses and sunscreen to tolerate that scorching sun! Other than this an awesome experience..and amused to realise that Balinese culture is so similar to Indian culture..felt like home!!
(47) Went here for the sunset. We couldn't get to the temple since it was high tide - but the surrounding is great and has a nice market too.
(48) Beautiful ocean, nice sunset, amazing temple. I’m really amazed that how could be the vibes is really good here! Everything are beautiful. Just be careful to the wild monkey here. Will be back!
(49) As the title says - that is the main attraction, the temple itself well not so much. \n\nI did a quick trot and took a few snaps along the way, an hour should cover this place in its entirety.
(50) We came here as a part of a 12 hours tour. It is very hot and you need to cover yourself in cream, wear hat or even umbrella. The temple is very high and you need to climb few steps, but there is where you going to make the best pictures. The cecak dance on the sunset is a nice attraction to see. There make video to show back home is unique. Take care of the monkeys as they can steal anything. They taken my hat, but the guard gave them food and luckily i had it back. Great fun
(51) Its a nice place to visit and see, under the temple they say is a stripped snack that protects it and the water in the cave under the temple is holy. \nPeople are allowed in only for prayer. Very interesting in terms of culture. In addition there is a near by market and a cafe that offers Luwak coffee. Nice for a slow and relaxed afternoon.
(52) Get yourself a scooter and ride up to the temple if you can. You'll feel like you're on top of the world - a truly beautiful spot.
(53) The temple property is huge and I am glad it is able to accommodate the tourists. There are several good spots for pictures. We took the stairs near Batu Bolong to get down to the shore for some great shots and quiet/peaceful time.
(54) The temple itself isn’t so special but the sourrounded nature is quite nice. Entrance fee is IDR 60.000 for adults. Be sure to come early before thousands of tourists are there. It’s very crowded & if all the selfie tourists ready with the picture of the day it can takes hours to see anything. Must be very patient & brave. But of course this hotspot is a must!
(55) Went here in the evening there was high tide badluck could not go near the temple or inside but still very nice place very high waves we just kept on staring at them.\nDid not realise that we spend three hours there enjoyed our time.
(56) If you visit this temple you get great views from the cliffs and out over the sea. I went during the day time but the views would be nice at sunset. It took us about 40 minutes from Nusa Dua and it was quite nice driving through different villages on the way there. It doesn't take that long to walk around the temple, but beware of the monkeys who can get a bit aggressive, but if you leave them alone they don't usually bother you. You can walk around the grounds but the central courtyards aren't usually open to the public. You have to have your legs covered so either wear trousers or you can hire a sarong for free when you get there. This is not one of the most impressive temples.
(57) I would recommend that you visit the temple only if you are passing by, no need to go here from Denpasar or Ubud unless you are close by doing something.\n\nThere is a entrance fee for turists, i think it's like 20.000 IDR.\nNo entrance fee for local people, this system is very common in Asia so no need to feel you're being cheated.\nIt's nice to walk among the temple inside and snap a few obligated pictures of the famous lake tempels.
(58) From the temple, there is a spectacular view of the surrounding area- cliffs, surf. Feeling of serenity despite the many visitors there. Walk the paths at the top in silence feeling the ambience of the temple. We missed the sunset as it was drizzly but still was worth the trip there. Sit awhile and meditate in a more secluded area listening to sounds of nature.
(59) Excellent view , must go place, a temple on the cliff ...... Watch sunset here with drinks at near by stores.
(60) This temple is to be visited at sunset for a gorgeous view but we visited this in the morning. The temple is set in a beautiful locale. Entry into temple premises only allowed for Balinese people and sarong wasn’t compulsory when we visited. The entry fee was 60k Idr per person and additional 5k idr for parking. Was beautiful!! Definitely must see temple on your itinerary.. |
