(1) After battling the traffic we made for a sunset look at the temple. Didn't quite get to see the sunset due to cloud but that can't be helped. Worth a look
(2) We spent quite a lot of time here on our day tour. We used Amansuka Tours and found Wayan an excellent guide. I would recommend using a guide as he told us so much about the history, the buildings and there was also a Hindu Ceremony taking place while we were there and he was able to explain it to us. \n\nThis was the most expensive site we visited which was 50,000 IDR each, I thought it was quite expensive, until we went in and I saw how well the grounds and facilities were maintained and then I didn't mind spending the money.\n\nIt is quite crowded, this was the first stop on our tour for that reason, with the Hindu ceremony, it didn't make a difference. This place is also becoming popular with Hindu couples for their engagement photos. It was a privilege to see a place that is so special to so many people and be a part of it. \n\nOur only regret is that we didn't take more photos.
(3) This place is absolutely unreal, the views and it's location is just so beautiful being right by the sea. \nWe even got to hold a snake and get our photo taken for $10NZD, the snake was HUGE! \nDefinitly put this on your \to do\" list when you go to Bali, the temples here are stunning."
(4) We had gone to Bali on our honeymoon..this Temple is truly iconic..situated at the seashore ..the architecture and the rituals followed here are mesmerizing..however the only problem is some of the parts of the temple are out of bounds for tourists which was a bit disappointing..
(5) We made it in time for the sunset and it was totally worth it!\nBeware of the monkeys while walking along the wall on the cliff. \n\nIt was interesting to see how the Balinese Hindus pray, very different from the Hindu Indians.
(6) This is temple is unique being detached from the mainland and can go inside the temple when the tide is low. Pretty crowded at any given time. Should be so crowded for sunset. Better to couple with other places around. Hundreds of souvenir shops around if you are into that kind of things. So many local tourists too at the place.
(7) The prettiest temple in Bali.\nGo before the sun is setting as it is a beautiful experience and great photo opportunity as the sun sets.\nBe prepared for crowds and traffic but worth it.\nEntry fee is 60,000 rupiah per person.
(8) Beautiful small temple on the edge of the cliff. The view is breathtaking! Perfect spot to watch a sunset, however many tourists have the same idea, so normally it's packed with people in the evening. Make sure to be near the exit and go for it as soon as the sun goes down, if you don't want to be stuck in traffic! :)
(9) When looking at the blogs and websites describing this temple, I was REALLY excited to go give it a look. It was on our way back from a waterfall visit and my girlfriend and I decided to make a stop here.\n\nIll start off with the good. The property was well kept up and clean. It definitely had more the feel of a quirky, contemporary park than a sacred temple complex. There are funny little statues scattered about the park area and its a decent stroll. \n\nWhen you arrive at the lake, the temple you see in the picture is very small. It is beautiful, but for some reason it just didnt wow me like other Balinese temples. Perhaps if you go during a ceremony it would be a much more interesting experience. \n\nWe walked away disappointed, but we did have a nice chat with some Javanese students who were practicing their English and recording for a school project. They were very nice and we had fun chatting with them!
(10) We visited here around 11:00am and it wasn't overcrowded.\n\nI think it was 20,000 each for the entry ticket. The actual temple on the water site was busy but not an issue. Your feet might get wet so flip flops are a good idea. There are steep stone steps to a nice cove from the garden area which is nice to see, if you don't mind the climb back up. \nWe spent 2 hours here, which was a nice amount of time to walk round.
(11) When you arrived there by Panpacific Nirwana hotel you get directly to the upper part of the temple. The views are breathtaking during sunset. Too many people on the other hand, make you feel like it´s very touristic. But anyway its a great place to visit.
(12) İts one of the most important and great temple in Bali..Everyone must see and visit..İt have a guite but mistic atmosphere..
(13) We visited the temple in a rainy noon. Fortunately, it stopped raining and the sky getting clear. This place made me feel peaceful because of the lake. I recommend this place as a must in Ubud.
(14) although the stated above says im not pleased it is still an amazing temple, go in the morning to avoid all the hasslers and enjoy the view with just a couple tourists
(15) very beautiful, watching the sunset was great. We also enjoyed the nature in the rock pools. As you walk down to the temple (Which you cannot access) there are some nice shops, resturants and a market set up.
(16) is a magic place to be. Good atmosphere and excellent conservation of the Temple and the place. You can take pictures everywhere because even the seaside view is fantastic
(17) Very crowded, especially the first part where you have the stalls to walk above the water and the fish. When you go at the end of the temple it's better with less people. The temple itself is ok, could be more taken care of, but I've seen more beautiful ones, like Taman Ujung not so for is way more relaxing. Tirta Gangga is lacking authenticity because of the crowd of selfies-lovers.
(18) While scenic and the views of the surrounding lake absolutely gorgeous, the crowd at the temple has made it really hard to either get a good landscape shot or a group photo. Nevertheless, the weather is really comfortable and the ride there pass all the farms is as beautiful.
(19) If you're mad for crappy overpriced souvenirs then this place is for you!! If not, run far far away as there are far better temples to visit
(20) This should not be missed when visiting Bali. Well maintained temple and park. A great backdrop for your Bali postcard. Come early to avoid huge crowd and heat.
(21) I come here every trip and I do so as early as possible to beat the tourists. The drive up is nice going through the Balinese countryside. You need to get here early as the tourist buses turn up at about 12:00 so try and beat them. \n\nThe Gardens here a beautifully manicured and the Temple itself is a great site. This can be a long drive as it can take up to 2 hours in the wrong traffic and sometimes longer so be warned.\n\nThere is also a fee which some people complain about...its $2...if that's to much then you shouldn't be on a holiday.
(22) My wife enjoyed this temple. Great location and the views are amazing. There is also markets out the front of the temple if you need to buy any souvenirs. \n\nGreat half day trip.
(23) Its a good place to visit. Plan you visit in early morning the entry is free till morning 8 and less crowd. You can enjoy the sun rise. The entry of the main temple may be closed between 3 to 5 because of high tide due to which the entry gate might get submerged. There are lot of shops inside the temple premises where you can buy good stuff at great discount.
(24) This temple is roughly a 2 hour drive from Sanur by private driver. The temple is situated on the picturesque shore of lake Bratan. The temple takes about 30-45mins to wonder around- I do mean around, visitors are not allowed on the island temple. \n\nThis temple can be seen on the back of the 50,000 rupiah bill. That image was captured just a few feet into the second enclosure next to the bamboo island with the carved serpents-which you also won't be able to walk on:) \n\nThe temple grounds are amazing and offer some of their own unique historical structures. The gardens were well maintained, abundant in flowering plants and trees this time of year. \n\nEntrance cost is the same bill the image graces 50,000 rupiah per person. As for expensive? That's roughly 3.70$ US per person (13,200 idr at the time). Entrance fees appear to be one of the few things non negotiable in Bali. \n\nThere's nearby docks where one can hire a speedboat to tour the perimeter of the lake. Bring a water proof layer if that's a goal. \n\nWorth the trip in my opinion. Some sites near the area include:\n\nTwin falls Gitgit: 45mins further, I would suggest seeing this first and then working your way back towards Denpesar--if that's the area you are staying. \n\nJatiluwih: 60 mins further west-ish. Terraces similar to Ubud. Difference being the red grained rice and views. \n\nIf starting the trip from south Bali I would also include the Royal Temple (Pura Taman Ayun) about 1 hour from Sanur-takes about an hour to tour(also worth it).\n\nSafe travels
(25) Definately worth visiting together with the nearby botanical garden. The landscape is beautiful but I didn't like the pink goose like boats that were ruining my photos of the temple & lake :)))
(26) If you are planning to go bali then you must add this temple to your check list. The temple is kind of encircled by the ocean and gives you an awesome view at the evening during the time when the sun is setting down.
(27) Accessibility: It is very well connected through road and google map will show you the pointer to reach this place. \n\nParking: There is a large parking space and you don't have to worry about parking though finding your car can become a nice exercise in itself later on. There is a parking fee which you need to pay at the entrance but if you take a cab, the cab owner or company generally handles it themself.\n\nEntrance Fee: You have to take an entrance ticket (which is common in most of the places in Bali).\n\nThe precursor to the temple: The path from the entrance to the temple, is full of small shops selling art works and they are open for bargaining (you can get as ridiculous as u want on the bargain as you want, holds true through out Bali except for the fixed price shops) but you get pretty nice art works.\n\nTemple: The temple is located on top of a rock and is accessible by normal walking during low tide. We reached Tanah lot when it was high tide. We wanted to have some adventure and decided to cross the small water body to reach the temple. You will get assistance from the locals to help you to cross the tide and reach the base of the rock. They will charge you a nominal fee of IDR 20,000 (INR 100 or USD 1.5). You have the holy spring in a small cave like formation at the base of the rock and a priest will do prayer (puja) for you. We were not allowed to climb to the top of the temple as it was locked (may be because of the high tide).\n\nOverall experience: Nice place to go in Bali with opportunity to click a lot of pics. The best part for us was crossing the small strip of water body with waves lashing us and trying to push us from the path. We got completely drenched during this experience.\n\nThings to watch out for: Don't try to get too bold and smart and follow the local guide (if u r going during high tide). There are places during high tide which will not be visible but you may experience sudden depths and it can be tricky.\n\nYou should be ready for a huge crowd of visitors as this is a famous tourist spot.\n\nWe went during sunset and it is worth being thr during the sunset.
(28) you have to traipse over slippery rocks at low tide and once across you can't enter the temple, you just get to stand on a bit of rock, then clamber back again. The best bit was walking back and up the hill to see the sunset.
(29) ....come with clean heart and mind, please. Dont listen too much of what they say. This place is magical place, (in real sense) so prepare ur clothing, sarong (kain panjang), drinks and food. It is adviced not to eat too much meat 1 day before planning. Just fruits and vegies if u can. U can handle this place, if u can handle those travel guide (or, guidance). For Hindunese people, this is a sacred place, trust me to watch what we say and think here....\n\nMay the force be with youu.... ^_^
(30) As I said ) that place became my favorite temple in Bali from the first sight! The cliff itself is breathtaking also you can catch there unbelievable sunset. Very romantic!
(31) Ensure to book a round trip driver to get there and back. Check weather forecast to get stunning views of the sunset. The temple is split from the main headland. The cliff overlooking the temple have cafes which is a good place to sit back and relax whilst enjoy the sun setting.
(32) This is one of the most beautiful temples in Bali. Great view, environment all goes perfect together.
(33) The great temple on the lake with a good weather. It's not only a temple on the lake, but it also has a garden in it.
(34) This temple is located on high rock sour rounded by sea. There is spring water below the temple, controlled by priests.\nIdeal location for watching sunset. \nLots are shops and food stores in vicinity. Entry ticket is IDR 30,000 per person and car parking chareges 5000IDR.
(35) After a while, temples here in Bali all look the same to a large degree. The lake was nice, but if one has been to Canada, this lake is not very interesting except that it is cooler temps around this area.
(36) The temples are very pretty. There are 2 that jut out over the ocean. There are a lot of tourists and tauts in the area. I was amazed with the cheap flying plastic birds and kites. This is not a peaceful place.
(37) This is one temple worth visiting. It is located next to a beautiful lake. The drive from Ubud took about an hour and the drive was breathtaking. I just can't get over how beautiful the alter is and how tranquil the place is. \nI felt a connection with the place the minute I stepped in the temple. \nThis is a great place to bring the family and children.
(38) Really interesting to see - a bit of a unique style compared to most of the water temples in Bali. It was pretty crowded, and the water walk was kind of jammed with people trying to make 5000 photos each step, but overall a nice stop and interesting site to visit!
(39) Traditional temple next to the Sea, built for worship to protect the island from evil spirits from overseas. Built in the traditional Bali Hindu style with stunning cliff top views. This isn't a trip for anyone scared of heights! The gardens are beautifully maintained. You will be asked to wear a sarong to cover your legs, I watched some visitors remove these for photos, so disrespectful! Amazing views and a real photographers paradise! Well worth a visit!
(40) location is awesome the only thing that the temple generally closed it open only when there is any big holy function
(41) One of many nice temples in Bali, however this one has a spectacular location. Not sure there is anything here to differentiate it from the others. We didn't have to pay an entrance fee, though I think we were there on a special day. There is a restaurant which seemed like a convenient place to eat, thought we didn't try it. Being at a higher altitude, it tends to be cooler than the coast.
(42) Practically, this is perhaps a sunset viewing spot that is doomed with great scenes of the beach and water hitting the stones om the shores. In such a backdrop, a temple atop a large rock just adds to the mystery and my stick beauty!\n\nBook a car before hand for a round trip and you are good to go. Can also is use Uber but will have to request the driver to stay back in the parking.
(43) This is a beautiful piece of Bali coastline, with a sheer drop off to the sea. The temple is not very exciting compared to other places in Bali. Watch out for angry monkeys on the path. We saw one steal the sandal off a 4 year old (who was being carried by her dad). Probably best to go early morning or at sunset.
(44) The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast and one of Balis most important landmarks. The setting of this temple on the sea shore and the crashing white waves are beautiful. We could not watch the sunset but I understand it is a mesmerizing experience. Unfortunately its possible to walk up only a part of the steps leading to the main temple. This is an ancient Hindu temple and it seems like all such temples in Bali, there are no idols in the temple. \nThe park in the temple complex is nice but the pathway to the temple complex is dotted with too many shops and you may initially confuse it with a shopping area. Its worth visiting this sea temple.
(45) temple built on rock, beautiful sunset. Advise to visit during low tide and could walk over. Get blessing from the priest who guard the temple.
(46) the place is far about 2.5 hours drive from nusa dua and need to climb long stairs then uphill road. you also need to pay rental for the sarong and since I was wearing a sleeveless shirt, i also need to shawl which is very smelly. we waited for 2 hours just to get a shot by the gates. it's no worth it because you can see similar temples in bali.
(47) The views were amazing from this location - stunning cliffs and views of the water. However, when looking to come here I thought it would be more remote. There were a LOT of tourists - so many it was hard to move at points. You also cannot go out to the cliff point inside the temple unless you are Hindu which I was not aware of. In addition, we went to the dance at sunset - again, packed and not as enjoyable as expected. I would visit another spot if we did the trip over.
(48) A beautiful temple in the Ocean, it's one of the main tourist attractions in Bali, we had the pleasure to witness a Ceremony there but the beach was very crowded with Tourists and locals, though we couldn't go inside due to the High tides
(49) A lovely temple with some very picturesque settings. Most of it is in the open air with some wooded trails and quite a bit of stairs. Potential for some absolutely lovely pictures and great views. Can be very tiring especially on a hot day. Highly reccomend a hat and wear long pants or a long skirt as this is a temple and you should be dressed decently. Respect for holy ground is necessary. The temple grounds are also home to a number of monkeys who are very used to people and are very mischevious. They will sometimes try to grab your hats or sunglasses so either keep them in your bag or hang on tight to them. If you have an interest in the history of the temple it might be worth getting a guide (for a small fee). All in all a nice place to visit and a lovely insight to the uniqueness of Balinese culture.
(50) Beautiful temple on bank of river, excellent views, when we visited weather suddenly changed and whole lake filled with clouds for some time, have atleast 2 hr for exploring.
(51) This was the first temple I stopped at during my 10 day adventure around Bali, and it didn't disappoint! Despite there being quite a crowd around, the location was beautiful, and the surroundings were just as enjoyable to explore. You can cross the water during low tide for a closer look, but even from afar it's quite a magic sight.
(52) Always a beautiful place to walk around and take a good look at all the beautiful temples on outcrops. If you get there in the afternoon, the crowds that come for the sunset (which I have yet to see - always overcast), are not there yet. Worth a visit when in Bali.
(53) This was one of the last places we visited on our 10 hour tour that we organised through our hotel and I have to say it was worth it.\n\nAfter arriving like most tourist attractions in Bali, you have to pay an entrance fee which isn't that expensive, then walk down the road which has multiple stalls and established shops which have some decent prices but are marked up due to the multiple tourist. \n\nHowever, it is all worth it when you se the marvellous temple atop a rock which looks great no matter where you view it from. There is also another great view if you're there at sunset through the archway to another temple.\n\nOverall, it is definitely worth the time to see if you're free, though be aware it can be very crowded especially if there is a religious ceremony been held in the area, but at the end of day we are only visitors there and it is a sacred place so I can't not give it a great rating cause it is still incredible in its own way.
(54) I heard it was one of the big and important temples in Bali. A must see. But make sure u go there when the tide is down so u can see the inside of some of the caves and get blessed by priests the Balinese way! There is an entrance fee and also if u would like to see and touch a holy snake ur asked to donate whatever. Make sure u have flip flops on coz u will be walking in water.\nThe breathtaking view from the cliff is just outstanding and the plants and trees as well. It is an old temple but well preserved.
(55) This was the most beautiful temple we visit in Bali. The view is amazing. Unfortunately the temple was closed. You couldn't enter to visit, but the surroundings are the best.\nYou can take very nice pictures here.
(56) Yes its crowded, yes its touristy, but still the place is very nice we didnt go into the temple but just walked around before sunset. Great pics.
(57) We went around 5 pm. This temple requires you to wear a Sarong ( to cover your legs) , the fee of sarong is included in the entrance fee. Our driver asked us to remove all jewellery and not to carry any plastic bottles or poly bags as there are monkeys inside and they can be attracted by that. Make sure you visit this temple for the sunset view. It's an amazing and breathtaking view of sunset over the ocean. The temple is very crowded , full of tourists which sometimes can b annoying as u don't get enough time/ space for good photographs. There is fire dance show at 6 pm which is nice to watch and depicts Balinese culture. A must Visit for the beautiful Sunset View.
(58) Amazing view at sunset. Allow time to browse the markets before or after the temple where you can get some beautiful good quality oil paintings. I bought 2 unframed canvases and they rolled and packed them up for my flight home. They did survive the flight undamaged.
(59) Just a temple floating in water.. Just it.. It's not worthy with the distance between my place (Nusa Dua) to there (around 3 hour).
(60) Not easy to get there, but it is worth it. Very beautiful temple up on the hill, with a very nice Agung view. We loved the area it feel so special there!
