(1) We watched the sunset from a nearby cafe overlooking this amazing beautiful temple. This is an event not to be missed and be prepared with your cameras.
(2) Ensure you go with low tide so you can climb up. Avoid Sunday's. Too busy with the local crowd. The shops around the temple complex make it somewhat trashy. A real pity.
(3) The temple is very well maintained with a very beautiful garden. The sunset is very scenic and worth the time. The pathway is lined up with restaurants and shops offering various art effects and restaurants and multicusine..
(4) The temple itself is nice, situated on a rock. However, the whole area is built up as a tourist village with countless of souvenir shops and drink places which destroys any ambience or magical feeling. In short term, a tourist trap that costs 60k to view.
(5) This place is simply stunning! We were at first hesitant to go there because of the distance but our guide Mr. Agung +62 812 3882316 said it will be an experience. It was an experience indeed o visit such a great temple where you can walk on stepping stones over a large pond. Our guide explained the history of the place as well which made it more remarkable.
(6) The temple is located high up on the hill and it has superb sea views. lot of waves and tides can be seen from temple. \nWe were lucky to enter the main temple which is far at the corner and sea views from here amazing. \nA perfect place for calm and peaceful meditation.
(7) Massive waves are the backdrop to this ancient island temple on the seashore,,,shop before you enter the gates and after enjoy a meal at one of many eateries,Amazing sets rolling in while you sample the wares
(8) We have visited a few other temples in Bali, but this was by far the best. If you only see one temple in Bali his should be the one.
(9) A beautiful temple with a serene lake setting. The palace itself is beautiful with large colorful statues that I hadn't seen at other temples. Surrounding the temple is a grassy park filled with large animal statues.
(10) This makes for yet another stunning temple setting to visit. \nThe temple is right on Danau Beratan Lake. The distance to drive up here can be quite a lot if you are staying in Southern Bali but it is completely worth it!\nThe complex is quite lovely and you can spend about 2-3 hours here just roaming around. The places offers good photo ops due to it's location. \nThere is nice garden before you get to the complex. Weekends get fairly crowded. \nPlan your travel slightly earlier in the day - just so that you can enjoy the peace and tranquility without the crowds. The road leading up to the temple is smooth for the most part. \nIt is well maintained, you are not allowed to go \inside\" the temple. \nFood and water is available, there is a small entry fee. Cameras are allowed. You will be handed out a sarong if you are wearing trousers/are wearing too short a dress/shorts.\n\nThere is a parking space outside the complex. \nIf you are headed to Bali, you must see this place!"
(11) Very beatiful temple, some part is on an island which can be pass through when the sea is go.Around the temple there is a very big park and temples, cafeterias that has beatiful view which is magnicient at sunset. There are small snakes under the caves, lumak coffe and the animal, fruit to be visited. Lots of restaurants , souveneir shops .It is fun to walk around. 4-5 euro for entrance but it is worth to see it. I strongly recommend, it is one of the best temples in Bali
(12) If you visit Bali don't miss to visit this Temple ( low tide) great views and amazing cliffs... nice warungs above the temple
(13) We visited here for sunset and it was very busy and there was a hindu gathering at the time. It also came over rainy which didn't make for very good photos but it was still a very unique place to visit and worth the trip. Oh and don't worry about packing an umbrella, a lovely lady hires them out for $1 if you need one.\nWe didn't realise how many shops were here, if we had of known, we would have arrived a lot earlier. As soon as we arrived my son got stuck at a stall where they etched names into wooden bali souvenirs, they were really cool, we ended up getting so many for friends & family & ourselves. So many shops & good prices.\nVery enjoyable outing.
(14) It was pouring hard when we arrived and there are people trying to hand out umbrella which I don't think it's free as they look like stall owner. My driver had 3 big umbrella so it was good. The temple had surrounding fog and we were told its lucky we can see the temple cos down times the fog just goes around everywhere and no view at all. The fog makes the place feels seclusion and mystical l. \nWe learn about the temple and why it's 11 rooftops. Interesting site for spiritual uplifting.
(15) The temple itself was awesome and beautiful. Waited until the sunset on the cliff where there are many restaurants. But for me the best part was hanging out in a cafe with Luwak and flying fox. It's on the way to cliff. They sell Luwak coffee for 50000.\nThese days so many Chinese packages are coming to see this place so it became very crowed(and dirty also. It's fact no discrimination). The temple itself is still so beautiful!
(16) This was a very well maintained and popular temple grounds. The popularity of this temple was surprising with so many people traveling up from the major centers to the south. This main water temple is close to the shore for viewing and photos, and is similar to several other very popular temples in the south. The gardens had small benches shaded under the trees to rest under, and a restaurant to match the popularity of so many visitors.
(17) It was a very nice large temple on top a cliff. A lot of steps to get to top. But views are worth it. And great placeto watch sun setting.
(18) We were prepared for the rules around covering up legs and wore appropriate clothing. Alas “it is their custom that everyone wear a sarong”. Actually it is their custom that everyone wear a sarong they rent you. If you bring your own sarong then at best they will try to take it from you when you leave. \n\nYou are then required to provide a “donation”. \n\nAfter making the ascent to the temple plateau, there is a photographer charging money to take a photo of you posing in the gateway view point. There are literally hundreds of people waiting in line to do this. \n\nWe werent having any of that nonsense and got a photo taken for free in between victims of Temple Greed.
(19) This temple is absolutely breathtaking. It is unique from other temples in that it is on a lake. It is well worth the drive! Definitely a must-see.
(20) This temple complex seemed more like an amusement park feature on the one hand ... and I didn't get a spiritual vibe at all. Maybe it was the goofy figures scattered about the park (like Sponge Bob Square Pants) or the countless people blocking the views and walkways with their selfie groups photographs in session. Or ... maybe it was the signs that said \Do Not Enter\" at key points, so I wondered why I had paid the admission ticket if I couldn't access the most special parts. The view of the lake and the hills on the other side were nice. And that was about it. Thankfully, we stopped here on our way across the island and didn't make a special trip."
(21) We did not have time to see the temple at sunset but the view is just amazing even in the day. Takes around 1 hr to see the temple. In case you want to have coconut drink check out shops near the main entrance since they are quite cheaper than near the temple. Restrooms are free near the entrance. \nMust visit ad strong recommendation.
(22) Even though tourists are allowed to see the temple only the outside and from a noticeable distance, I liked the atmosphere. Nice and calm place. I even touched the Holy Snake.
(23) Plenty of people have written about the temple here. Pick your time to make the most of the experience- low tide allows visitors to cross shallow water & receive blessing, or late afternoon for sunset. \nHead up toward the village (away from parking lot), there's local people selling goods including a guy with his own luwaks! Grab a drink or some food from one of several warungs overlooking the temple. As long as it's not close to sunset, you'll enjoy a respite from the crowds of tourists.
(24) Really enjoyed this Temple but I had a local guide for was given lots of information and background history, very pleased I went to this attraction
(25) During low tide you can walk out to the temple. It's a beautiful place to get some photos and to take in the natural beauty of the ocean. There are a few places to get snacks and drinks as well as some souvenirs also. Very tranquil.
(26) It is a beautiful temple but can get crowded at any time of the day. Entrance fee is considered the most expensive compared to other tourist attractions. Spent less than 20 minutes over there. There are restaurants near the temple that offer buffet lunch at 100k per person but the food is not awesome. Thus, would recommend having lunch before heading to the temple.
(27) I loved the view along the coast. It's breathtaking. We paid a tour guide to tell us a bit about the place, but I think he was more useful because he let us feed monkeys and get close to them. The monkeys are smart and steal your stuff to be fed, so beware. You can't enter the temple as a tourist, but it's nice to see. I was more interested in the view.
(28) Must visit temple for its scenic and eyesoothing location.I cant see any god in any temple in bali but aee the best locations and carving and artwork at every temple.its like hidden gems of bali on seashore.Very photogenic place to see and enjoy sea, location and garden, cliff around the temple.
(29) Definitely need to visit the place. It is beautiful and one can easily spend a couple of hours walking around and observing the statutes and how well the Temple is laid out.
(30) Having visited a few of the “must see” temples in Bali as well as a few smaller temples this was a huge disappointment. \n\nVery commercialised and ruined by tacky statues including all the sponge bob characters which are totally irrelevant and dont represent the culture and religion at all. Actual temples are also a lot smaller than the photos make out. \n\nTo the side away from the lake area there are cages which look like they are abandoned and overgrown but when you look closely there are animals inside which appear to have been forgotten about and look very sad indeed. \n\n50k per person to come in and complete waste of money. Basically dont bother!
(31) What a beautiful temple, this is one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. \nIt s on a rock in the see, well more like coast rock.
(32) Would recommend this Temple as a very interesting place to visit while in Bali, one of many places to see on your travels.
(33) It was a beautiful place to see the temple and also to walk in the market.\nFor Europeans the prices are good and you can spend there at least 4 hours.
(34) Lovely temple to visit with amazing scenery within a lake. One of the must visit temple in Bali, its a steep srive to get there but worth it!
(35) The stunning setting of this traditional temple, creates an ambiance of calm and peacefulness and as is the case with most of the Balinese temples, one feels the power of nature emanating from the site.
(36) Beware this this a temple complex and you cannot go inside the temple.there is a entrance fee.its a bid place and you need to wear sarong given by temple.the view of the beach beow and the sunset is very good, couldn't see any restaurant to eat.there is a hike along the pathway and you can have a awesome view of the beach .do visit
(37) The temple is a little over hyped. It has a great history behind it and it is located with a spectacular view. It captures the Bali heritage so its a must go for culture and heritage travellers.
(38) We briefly stopped by this beach while driving from Ubud to our other destinations in Bali. It was not crowded at all during our visit.\n\nNote that located near this beach is a temple that requires visitors to wear sarong and sash. Entrance fee is 50,000. rupiahs per person.
(39) There are 7 temples here in total, go by bike if you can because there is a couple of kilometres of road between the sites and most of it's up hill. There is a voluntary contribution to enter, we gave 50,000 for the two of us but I'm sure they would be happy with whatever you can give.\n\nThe first temples are stunning, lots of steps but well worth it. At the next site there are 1750 steps up to the next site, they don't take too long and there are monkeys at the top. You can loop round and see the other temples part way down. You need to allow a good couple of hours to visit all sites.
(40) We were taken as part of a 2 day tour. There are two temples that are perched at the sea edge, so many people flock here to visit towards sunset. \n\nWorth a visit at any time, but to get some great photos then sunset is good, however it does get busy.
(41) This was such an amazing view. The pearl of Bali. I have never seen more beautiful temple. Definitely recommend to visit if traveling to Bali.
(42) The Temple and place is just beautiful. Be prepared to walk a bit. Its picturesque and a site to see.
(43) One of the very famous temple in Bali didn't disappointed me ! \nThe beautiful temple at the shore of the sea view is breathtaking ! \nWorth a visit . Spend few hours and acknowledge the beauty !
(44) Visited just as sunset started and it was beautiful. Unfortunately the water was coming up so we didn't make our way into the temple but looking at the view was worth the visit.
(45) It's a breath-takingly beautiful lake with the most beautiful temples and is worth the drive to visit. Take the time to walk all around and enjoy the coolness of this place, you forget you're in the tropics with the coolness of the breeze.
(46) The temple is said to be holy temple to locals so it might be having some local importance but I found it bit over-rated attraction. \nThe entrance has fee and the temple is not open for everyone (heard it's open only once in 6 months or so). \nSome of the places are good to click photographs but overall a over-rated experience.
(47) Was worth a short visit as the temple is famous and on their 50,000 note. It was quite crowded when we went and there isn't much to do there. The grounds and temple were beautiful but there were some really tacky amusement-park type sculptures and things that were super weird. Peddle board for hire were also weird and a the typical tacky tourist crap shops on the way out.
(48) A fantastic colourful temple and surrounding parkland. \nVery popular with locals. We arrived during a big celebration so got tyo see this side of Balinese life. Lively vista over lake and surrounding mountains. Good entry price and cafes if your in need.
(49) Best attraction in south side of Bali so far! The temple is placed on a cliff that has beautiful view right to the sea. You have to walk down the stairs full of people and somehow it could be a little bit slippery when it's rainy. My friend & I found a secret place to see the sunset away from the crowd. We spent the evening there and back a little bit late and it was really dark. 40k for the entrance fee.
(50) it was raining very heavily thus the temple is closed to visitors...the water level kept increasing thus the life guards barred anyone close to the temple because some tourist have been swept away by the waves...most tourist flock in this area is because of its panoramic view....once water level rises the is no access to the temple...be watchful if you have kids because they may fall into the sea...
(51) This is a nice photo-op place to visit. The temple and surrounds are interesting, but watch out for the monkeys who will steal your sunglasses, cell phones, hair clips, hats, etc. They will return the item to you if you give them some food in exchange! Very intelligent creatures for sure. \n\nThe cliff provides some great backdrops for photos. It can be very hot, so be prepared with some water, sunblock, etc. Sunsets are supposed to be very picturesque here, but we went in the early afternoon
(52) Came here with a group of people. The temple was very pretty, but was rather crowded. I understand the religious part of the temple, but at the same time I felt parts of it were there strictly for tourists. There are two admissions here, one for the grounds and one for the temple inside the grounds.
(53) It is a beautiful temple, the routes to the temple from city center are busy and full of traffic, because of that it takes long time to arrive a not really far place! Overall still worth for a visit.
(54) One of Bali`s post card, this temple has to be visited in order to complete the tour around the island although make sure you pay attention to the tide before planning your trip otherwise you won`t be able to get to the temple. Since it`s a touristic attraction you`ll find a lot of people around trying to sell you stuff and the prices are above average in this area. Toilets are paid and also ticket charge for the visit. Surely you`ll get good pictures in this place.
(55) Temple is beautiful but you can only see it from a certain distance - not allowed to enter.\nThe big problem is the crowd - almost impossible to have a good shot without hundreds of heads \nBut the best for me was the sunset at the other side.. what a view!\nSpectacular
(56) I would definitely recommend wearing water shoes while visiting here as the waves come over the rocks youre stood on and the rocks are quite uneven. \nThere was a lot of people there too but we just went slightly further forward(hence the shoes) to get views/pictures without other people in them.\nAbout a 10 min walk from the car park through an array of shops which is flat and not many steps at all down to the temple.
(57) Like most attractions in Bali, it is a good idea to arrive early in the morning to avoid large crowds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. We combined visiting this temple and going to Jatiluwih, about half hour away, and it worked really well
(58) The place is beautiful at sunset . but the entry to the temple is only for the balinese hindus, which is a bit dissappoiinting given that people visit it from far away places. a very peaceful and serene place.
(59) You might know this place from the cover of the 2015 version of the Bali & Lombok Lonely Planet book as well as the 50.000 rupiah note and it's definately worth a visit. Their is a park, playground and an enclosure with deer but the temple is what's worth seeing. Despite the crowds you can get some nice pictures. You won't need to stay long at this sight.
(60) This temple complex situated at the edge of a cliff, offers spectacular ocean views. Scenes of waves crashing into the cliffs provide a great backdrop to these temples.\nThere are paths and steps leading to the various viewing points. Good to spend a couple of hours here.
