(1) The temple is located in a high place with a great view. However, the amount of tourists and the forbidden entrance make it loses points.
(2) nice view of the temple, but filled with selfie tourists especially during low tide, making it quite a task to get a decent shot of the temple. don't stand too close to the shore rocks lest you get splash by the incoming waves. for those who are adventurous, the temple is accessible during low tide.
(3) All the main temple areas were closed off for entry, and there were very many tourists. No natural photo-worthy spots as there are railings and signage everywhere. Was underwhelmed.
(4) This temple is on the lake and is often called the floating temple. It is a beautiful area. Great to take pictures. However this place are full of tourist when we visited.
(5) Completely worth visiting! A one of a kind temple surrounded by the gorgeous lake. Be prepared for rain, as it poured when we visited. Also, though it is not mandatory, wearing proper attire is strongly suggested!
(6) The temple is located just offshore and needs a few steps walk in the sea. There is a freshwater spring on this tiny island temple structure, which is right in the middle of sea. Views are beautiful and sunset is great to watch from here. Spiritual and soothing experience.
(7) The views are pretty here, but if you're after a more sacred experience, go somewhere else with less tourists. Ask your local driver for their favourite place. We ended up at a deserted temple much more impressive than this one. Also, if you're Australian like me, the cliffs will not impress like the Great Ocean Road - go there instead.
(8) Went here to see the sunset. Amazing view and absolutely worth the trip. A bit crowdy though. The temple is really something to see if you are in Bali.
(9) Went there last thursday and was disappointed, great location but disliked the temple! It is not in originate conditions. My friend said This tempel is \renovated\", with this term My friends means: they took down many old walls and replaced them with new shiny light colored rocks. My friend saw the tempel 7 years ago and says many things have changed! It is a shame that they took down cultural heritage!"
(10) Beautiful setting, with some spots that are peaceful even when there are a lot of visitors. Nice photo opportunities. There is a park just right beside the temple and it was nice and peaceful to enjoy the afternoon
(11) The tranquility of the place is no doubt the best Bali. Its just a few minutea walk from the parking lot to the Temple. Wear a sarong before entering to pay respect. There are wild monkey around so be careful. The view of the sea from here is spectacular.
(12) I thought this was one of those must see temples and looked so nice in pictures, and it is a nice little temple but with the amount of people at this place I was glad to see it and leave as soon as I could.
(13) Nice gardens with lake view and cooling winds. Was able to observe a praying ceremony from outside temple. According to driver, guide not allowed inside as will be subject to fine but I still see other guides around.
(14) Beautiful temple and awe inspiring natural surroundings. A bit disappointing that we missed the sunset due to the weather, but the sheer majesty of the place was worth the trip. Was sad that we would not be able to see the interior of the temple but then relieved because it means the rest of the tourists weren't able to either.\n\nPros: Idyllic temple overlooking the sea\nCons: Too many unruly tourists
(15) One of must visit places in Bali. Very beautiful enviroment, amazing temple. It's even more beautiful, when the sky is cloudy.
(16) well worth the drive to see this fantastic place. great photo opportunities everywhere you look. go early when its low tide so you can go out to the temple. plenty of places to buy food and to do some shopping. find yourself a good spot as the sun goes down to get the fantastic sunset shot
(17) As far as Hindu Bali temples go, this is a very beautiful one. Set on a lake in the mountains. Highlight are the carved doors with goldpaint, and the temple parts on islets. Beware that it can get colder here than the rest of Bali, so that when it rains you may get cold in just shorts and tshirt.
(18) This place offer nice sunset, beautiful beach and temple in one place. This place also crowded with tourist.
(19) This temple is breathtaking litterally and in all regards. It is one of our most treasured memories from Bali,- and we really felt a spiritual presence here. I coul try to describe it further,- but no words justifies this place. It must be experienced. Amazing.
(20) Very beautiful view. However, it is only just a view. Tourists are not permitted inside the temple so you only get the outer view. A bonus is that since you do not enter the temple you don't need to worry about covering up which is great since it gets pretty hot around there. I'd recommend going early in the day when there are less tourists and it is low tide. Although sunset is beautiful the heat is excruciating and it is very crowded.
(21) Being hindu I personally find the temples in Bali strange as they all seem to be stone buildings without many statues and the actual prayer areas - tourists aren't allowed in. I was amazed however by the cliff view and the actual view and spent more time looking at the sea and waves rather than spending additional time at the temple. Worth it just to see the cliff
(22) the actual temple and the area just by the water is amazing at sunset and basically what i came there for. what i didn't expect was how big the whole surrounding area was, with all the shops, restaurants and touristy stuff. if you just want to see the sunset there are other places you could go to without hundreds of tourists in your way. it was a cool experience but i wouldn't go there again.
(23) A beautiful place. It should be peaceful and quiet but with the amount of people visiting it it became a bit \lost\" and we can't feel and see all the beauty of this temple.\nIn perfect harmony between land and the sea. With lots of backup infrastructures like restaurant and bar. To access the temple we have a large garden with other things to watch."
(24) This temple is one of the most famous in all of Bali and for this reason it attracts a huge amount of tourists here each day. To beat the crowds go around sunrise when the clouds are away and you will have the whole place to yourself. Be ware that you have to pay to enter as this is a tourist site but if you go early you can avoid this because the people who collect the money aren't there that early.
(25) Very touristic place. Nice looking temple near the sea. Extremely busy, expect a long time in traffic if you go at sunset. a bit overpriced. \nEven with the high admission fee you will still have to pay to go to a wc and before reaching the temple you must go through what looks almost like a village made only with countless shops, With everyone saying hello and trying to sell you something.
(26) This temple is in a gorgeous location. Great for a wander around and seeing different things. We had a driver who came through with us which was very helpful to explain a few different things and help us put on our wrap/skirt so we didn't offend anyone.\nWould definitely recommend a visit
(27) Ok honest opinion, it's ok! \nYeah the temples pretty cool but it's been enclosed by a dirty big tourist trap. \nIt costs to go into the area 60K each for adults. The temple is at the back so you have to go through the area to get to it. \nIt costs to go in the dirty toilets, markets stalls on the hard sell and over crowded. \nDidn't do the sunset but ask myself, would I return again? Probably not!
(28) I'm not really into architecture but if you are, then this is definitely one for you. The temple is quite beautiful from the outside. I didn't venture inside. If you're there at sunset, you can take stunning pictures on the beach. There are a host of stalls selling everything from souvenirs (same as the streets), food and drinks. If you want to buy something, I recommend you ask around at more than one stall for a price. I bought a bag for Rs80000 that was being sold for as much as Rs180000 at another stall. The entrance fee is Rs60000 per person... something our illustrious guide failed to mention until we were at the pay point.
(29) We visited here on our way through.\nVery pretty, well looked after gardens and the temples were beautiful..\nMany many tourists taking photos so hard to look around with out being in the way of some ones picture which made things a little hectic.\nVery beautiful views of the mountains behind and you can take a speed boat ride around the lake to really take it all in.
(30) One of the biggest temple in Bali that offers great view of Mt.Batur. Temple complex here is delivers best view in Bali with beautiful traditional Balinese temple with gorgeous view of lake Batur and Gigantic Towering mountain peak of Mt.Batur. Go there on sunny day only to enjoy the true beauty of the place and also because temperatures get pretty low without the sun. There is a huge fee of 35k to get inside and apparently the entire place is managed by local mafia Nevertheless there’s nothing tourist can do about it. Although ignore people trying to sell you sarongs as w=you will not need that and can get one for free inside. The entire complex is very photogenic and you will be able to capture some really great moments of your travel here on a sunny day. The place also offers some quiet leisure activities such as boat ride and nice meal by the lake. Overall it’s a very nice place to spend a day with loved ones.
(31) A really beautiful temple right on the top of the cliffs. Stacks of photo opportunities, well priced admission, just be aware if a 'tour guide' tag along as they charged us more than the 4 of our admission prices at the end.
(32) Beautiful temple in the sea. Make sure to get there before tide is up to see the before and after and it occurs within a hour or so.
(33) Temple structure is OK, nothing great & you are not even allowed to enter the temple complex. It is on the edge of a hill & gives a fantastic view of the ocean & sea waves
(34) Beautiful water temple made ages ago.Best place to get epic pics .though its crowded most of the time.Best if you go in the daylight to get amazing pictures
(35) Yesterday was the first time for me and my friends came to this temple. We really liked it. It was far because our hotel was in Ubud but, when you arrive and saw how beautiful the main temple than you will wouldn't complain about the far.
(36) We went mid morning to avoid the crowds. Unfortunately it was high tide so we couldn't get to the temple but it meant there weren't so many people there. However we were lucky to see a procession that apparently doesn't happen to often so that was good.
(37) We visited the temple whilst passing through Bali on the way to Singapore. We had read all about this attraction on line and it certainly lived up to our expectation. It’s one of the most widely visited sites so at certain parts of the day it gets extremely busy. As virtually the whole temple can be viewed from the rocky beach, there’s enough room for everyone to view. There was a long queue through the sea to actually reach the temple, so we decided to enjoy the peaceful scenery from the beach. A visit to the temple should be at the top of every visitors tick list, make sure you have your camera and try and aim for sun set when the views are enhanced even more.
(38) Mesmerising ! This temple on the lake is breathtakingly beautiful.\nThe vibrant flowers planted all around make this place look like a picture postcard
(39) One of the best temples in bali on the top of a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean\nWe had hired a motorbike to visit the temple, the ride is good with good views and roads.\nEvening visit would be great as u can see the sun set.\nWay back PITSTOP restaurant serves tasty chicken wings and salad..
(40) We visited here on a day trip and it was raining when we were driving up the mountain so we were a bit worried. We stopped for lunch, the rain stopped, the clouds parted and OMG... to see this Temple, which is hundreds of years old, built in a lake, 1500 mtrs above sea level is something else... A lot of of people were visiting, so it is clearly a very popular tourist atteaction, but simply viewing the temple itself was an real life experience...
(41) We were told that this was a must-do, and while it was beautiful, it was a little disappointing. You can not actually enter the temple.. only wade across the water to the base. You have to walk through streets and streets of shops to get there, and it is much dirtier than other areas of bali. The toilets are holes in the floor, and you have to pay for the convenience. I would still recommend it, but be prepared.
(42) We happened upon several hindu processions which were magical. We also were there at low tide and were able to visit the fresh water springs for a blessing on a clear and beautiful day. Gorgeous views from many vistas in the park.
(43) There are a few nice temples inside, well kept away from tourist but yet not well maintained. Just a really touristy place. Enjoy the walk people!
(44) Breathtaking, serene and unforgettable views of the temple and of the ocean that should not be missed on a Bali vacation.
(45) The grounds are huge, we spent a long time walking around checking out the cheeky sculptures and temples. Tucked in one corner was a place where you could get your photo taken with a bird, bat or HUGE snake. Sean was keen for a bird of prey, I wasn't.
(46) a great and holy place to explore, it is a popular tourist attraction not to be missed. The rock-island's beautiful setting is for the local to worship the Balinese sea gods. Many Balinese market-format souvenir shops at the entrance for the tourist to get souvenirs to bring home.
(47) You feel good there though you are surrounded by many peoples.cafe near by has excellent views of the temple too.its sad that we are not allowed going into the actual temple.but you see nice view of rice farming too on your way to the temple.
(48) Impressing location with a beautiful main temple and jungle paths. Beware: huge amount of visitors also in the late afternoon. Best shortly after opening.
(49) Its a beautiful temple in the sea. Not many safety measures around. A lot of commercialization by the local pandits.
(50) I caught the sunset at the top where the restaurants were, and the views were absolutely breathtaking! So, so beautiful and very romantic. Walking in from the entrance was nice, too, as the sun was just beginning to set and many people were enjoying the sand and water. The actual temple on the rock was beautiful and mysterious looking. I recommend grabbing a Bintang and food at the very end of the ledge where the restaurants are.
(51) It was about 1h drive from Seminyak. It was high tide on the day I went, so I did not see devotees walk across the low tide beach to the temple. Anyways, I believe that only devotees are allowed to visit the interior of the temple. \n\nTo me, it is not a worth a visit as I could not go to the interior or even near to it. The sea view was just a regular sea view. There is no element of awestruck. There were many shops at the entrance with bus and car loads of tourists. I am glad that my hired driver alighted me at an entrance away from hordes of tourists at another entrance. The place leading to the temple was relatively crowded.
(52) The lake setting just adds a special touch to this wonderful Temple. Usually it is full of people but due to the virus it was fairly empty.
(53) I came here, via private driver, on a Monday in mid-December 2022. There is a fee to enter and to use the restroom. Entrance was 75,000Rp and the restroom was 2,000Rp.\n\nThe grounds was pretty big with a beautiful garden. Don't miss the floating Hindu Temple. We came during their harvest festival so everything was decorated beautifully. \n\nThere are restaurants inside, a playground for kids, as well as boat/water activity rentals. The lawns were beautifully manicured. Definitely worth a trip out her to visit.
(54) This is the my third visit in this area. If you are serious in photography, this is a good place to start. Sunset here is very good - just make sure to check with your guide the weather - there's so much action for street photography also. Aside from that, you can go to the base of the temple to get the so-called rice blessing in exchange for a donation. Their holy water is sweet and refreshing.
(55) It is a very nice temple. It was quite cold when we went (it is quite high and a cardigan comes useful). In the afternoon low clouds are coming and that is why we didn't get the best pictures. The water in the lake was low, so it looked a bit muddy at the shore.
(56) You can't miss them, but beware they are cheeky. Shame the temples were all closed. But worth the visit.
(57) Looked very nice but was over sold. They have holy lake or water under temple and holy snake in one of the caves. It seems a great shame that if a place is truly holy that people sit with their hand out counting the profit. Many people on beach trying to get that illusive best photograph. Didnt get into Temple although there are about 6 stairs to the left hand side that you are allowed to climb up.
(58) We went and came back to this place never realizing there’s a temple inside. Did tonnes of roadside shopping, spent hours capturing the sunset and admiring the waters - but that’s about it. Somebody mentioned later that there’s a temple inside to visit. Sorry. Missed it completely. Didn’t see anyone talking about it either. Oh btw, place is just average. Don’t have high hopes.
(59) A visually beautiful area. Make sure you go early in the morning before the crowds. This is a Hindu Temple and while we were there people were making their morning offerings. Wonderful insight into the lives of average Balinese.
(60) I went there for sunset and the view is truly amazing. It was quite crowded but still I could manage to get a front row spot to watch the sun set. The temple itself is quite simple but the scenery is unbeatable |
