(1) The images of this temple makes the temple look very big and beautiful, but we walked down to the lake to find a very small, still beautiful but not as magnificent as we thought it looked in photos. Most of the temple areas are closed like with most temple attractions... which makes entry fees very unreasonable, took just 30mins and we were done.\nDisappointed but still took some nice shots.
(2) I came here, via private driver, on a Tuesday in mid-December 2022. This is a MUST if you're ever in Bali - definitely worth the trek out here. It looks like something out of a video game. It was my first time seeing a temple on a beach like that. It's truly a unique Bali experience. \n\nUnlike other temples, you do not need to wear a sarong since you'll be walking around the temples without going inside of them. There are two temples that were built in the middle of the beach. One that's right in front of the entrance and the other further south of the beach. \n\nMake sure you bring cash to pay for your entrance ticket. Restrooms here were 3,000Rp. It cost 60,000 for each adult and 5,000 per car (but the lady at the booth didn't charge us for the car).
(3) This Hindu temple is not open for tourists unfortunately. If the tide is low you can walk to the cliffs. Otherwise, you can only take picture from the shores. I was told that you have not been to Bali yet if you have not been to this temple! So pls come visit!
(4) Great to see the sunset! You can touch the Holy snake and the Holy water from the sourse! We've got a flower in our hair and were blessed by a pandit. Near the Temple is a big market you can visit afterwards.
(5) Its a must visit when in Bali BUT make sure that you arrange for a driver or taxi or whatever to wait for you to return yourto your origin when finished the visit.\nDO not use the local \taxi\" guys in the temple, they try to rip you off especially when they see that you do not have transport to get back. Also uber, grab and other app based taxis are NOT allowed to pick passengers from the temple so if you have not arranged before for them to take you there and wait for you (even taxi from kuta) you will end up in the dark ,feeling threatened by the local \"taxi\" (without meters) accosiation crooks to take them and pay huge amounts or stay there, helpless in the dark and probably get into a fight. We had to call the police but nobody wanted to come and help us!!!!!!!!!! We were lucky that we found relatives that came to pickup us up at night from there.\nWhat a shameful experience for a fantastic spiritual place!!"
(6) A unique temple with very good photo ops. You must wade through water to access the temple, however you cannot go in the temple. The best photo opportunity would be at high tide.
(7) Its nice temple on the water, all arround is huge garden with flowers. Its definitely worthy to visit it.\nYou can park your car right front of the entrance.
(8) A great place to visit to watch the sunset and have dinner and drinks on the cliff. If you get there late afternoon you can explore the market on the cliff too and the beach and temple down below. The food and drinks at the many local warungs are reasonably priced and a great place to sit with friends and watch the magnificent sunset
(9) Wow...just beautiful not to many people even got to go over the water and visit the temple when the tide had gone out far enough
(10) Do visit this one for the scenic spot for photos. The temple can not be entered but makes a perfect picture postcard.
(11) An absolutely stunning and gorgeous temple situated on a beautiful cliff top scenery, ideal for sunset photos. You need to visit this temple if you come to Bali and try not to miss the firedance.
(12) This place is charming. There are lot of people so you must be patient them throught making photos but the temple and view around is simply more. There are also shops and restaurants in one area, so you can be here from lunch to sunset which is many people here for
(13) You. Must. See. This. Take a photo on the cliff. See the waves crashing against the giant picturesque rock formations and appreciate the beauty of the temple both near and afar. It's mesmerizing especially at sunset. If you don't mind the crowd, you're all good. You can't climb the temple to the top, you'll only be allowed to walk a little to the stairs beside with a view of the ocean after you're blessed with spring water. You can just stay on the ground and soak your feet in the ocean (if it's low tide).
(14) Great views and a nice little trip if you are in the area. However I wouldn't recommend if you are there for the temple. The surroundings are a little messy and the up keep of the temple has been let go. However if you haven't seen a temple or Bali monkeys then try get out to see it. A little far from town though We found it on our scooter riding around exploring. Bike parking 1000 and entry is 30,000 each.
(15) The temple is located on the water overlooking the Indian Ocean. When you walk down to the edge of the cliff, the sight is breathtaking. There are a number of outcropping of rocks. Waves crashing on these rocks causing a spray of water make quite a sight. You can't visit the temple but you can get a drink from the holy spring and get a blessing from a Buddhist monk. There is also a holy snake. We stayed for the sunset and unfortunately, it was overcast that day so it wasn't very good. This is my favorite temple visit in Bali.
(16) The whole point of me going on this trip is to check out this infamous temple but what i saw was a major let down. Mass consumerism, with shops everywhere, and a really really dirty surrounding. Don't waste your time coming over. The photographs are better than the real thing.
(17) I normally stay away from the major touristy temples but this was a nice place to sit back, have a coffee and watch the waves crash over the rocks. I just wish they hadn't turned a temple into a market.
(18) Although the weather was hot and humid, this temple site was magnificent. The temple complex was fantastic with lovely green gardens with statues depicting Hindu culture of Bali. The temple is located at the tip of the shore with great views. Probably one of the best temple complexes in Bali. This too was highly recommended by Trinurthi Bali Tours - excellent guide and driver. This is must visit place.
(19) We took a taxi from Seminyak about 45 mins (150k 1 way but the driver agreed to 350k for both ways including him waiting the afternoon until sunset) upon arrival you pay 30K per head entry fee and walk through a large arch into a local market. Working your way through the market down to the beach down a few lights of steps and the temple is just in front of you. We arrived about 4pm and the tide was on its way out which allowed us to walk across to the temple. After being blessed in the Holy spring, daubed with rice and a flower put behind your left ear we were allowed to climb part way up the temple where you leave the flower in a hollowed out area of the rock. (And you can have your photo taken) then as you cross back to the shore there is a cave where you can visit the Holy Snake.\nClimbing up through another section of local market you find many food and drink venues which overlook the beach and you can watch the sun-set (6.15pm) over the temple a great photo opportunity and well worth a visit.
(20) The temple itself is difficult to see. Worth the visit if your nearby. It has beautifull views to the sea. Have to pay a small fee and dress a sarong (they give you at entrance).
(21) We visit this temple in evening time and this site most suitable to watch sunset. Its a wonderful moment for us. They did not allowed in side the temple but still we can enjoy the view. in addition to that we can enjoy the waves.
(22) Excellent Sunset \nMagical Indian Ocean \nSee holy snake And very beautiful temple , magical experience after sunset .
(23) Very interesting place. We walked in the sea to go visit the temple and got to see the sweet water in the middle of the sea water and the tide came in and it water level got high and the temple had to be closed and it was not accessible to any one for a while after that. There were priests helping out to make sure everyone was safe.
(24) No offense meant for the religious group, but if you wont go there to worship, you can skip this place, because there's really not much to see here but some monkey who will rob your personal stuff if you're too careless , and a sea cliffside ... yes you can view sunset here, but you can also view sunset in some areas.\nthis is best for worshippers, not for tourists.
(25) These grounds are great to walk around.\nYou cant go inside them but with Lake Bratan right there and beautiful mountains in the background it is a great spot for photos and just enjoying some unique temples.\nThere is even a small animal compound on the grounds.
(26) Beautiful temple and amazing views. Got really busy though. Had our own guide Gede who took us at best time to visit which was earlier in morning. Quite a few stalls with souvenirs too if you wanted to buy bits.
(27) This was a very well maintained and popular temple grounds. The popularity of this temple was surprising with so many people traveling up from the major centers to the south. This main water temple is close to the shore for viewing and photos, and is similar to several other very popular temples in the south. The gardens had small benches shaded under the trees to rest under, and a restaurant to match the popularity of so many visitors.
(28) A must see place if visiting bali \nIt gets hot in afternoon so chose time accordingly also see the tides as the temple is in the ocean !!! Stunning views and a photogenic place
(29) This island temple is set right on the ocean and you can only walk out to in when the tide is low. There are many people trying to be your guide and trying to sell you stuff. You do not need a guide for this attraction. There is not much more to see than the temple itself. Very beautiful setting.
(30) This was the first visit of our two week itinerary and we were not disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and the market-style stores leading to the temple help make the visit more interesting. It was beautiful weather when we visited and not to busy, which meant that we got great pics. Make this visit a must do when you visit Bali :)
(31) The temple offered a great view of the surrounding lakes and the traditional Balinese architecture was a sight to behold. Will visit again if I have the chance
(32) The temple looks amazing and the views are one of a kind. Although theyve renovated the temple several times, I love how they have kept the same architecture as the original without adding anything new. I also dont understand why people complain about not being able to go inside, if youre not going in to worship you dont have any business in there.
(33) To visit this temple was my only Bali visit wish. And it did NOT disappoint! \nGood experience. Clean and not to busy on the day we visited.
(34) The view around this temple is good and the entry ticket is pretty affordable. It's worth it because we can enjoy the view and taking pictures around this place. You can buy drink and snacks in the exit way. It's pretty hot during sunny day, so you can bring hat. When you enter this place they will ask you to wear sarong because it's a sacred place. there's a museum with some great paintings and also mini theater inside of this place. A must to visit!
(35) Go in the morning as you are more likely to have blue skies. Really nice spot and there might be a ritual going on if you are there at a weekend. \n\nThis is the temple on the 50,000idr note
(36) We had a nice walk thought the temple. It was very hot but next to the cliffs, the views were stunnings
(37) This is the iconic landmark that 'symbolises' Bali. Do take note of the following :\n\n1) This is best visited as a sunset venue for lovely view of the temple against setting sun\n\n2) It can get traffic jam on way out as the road leading to the venue after sunset visit time when visitors make their way out (not good if you have a flight to catch after this visit)\n\n3) For best experience, visit when they have local religious observance festivals. More exotic pictures :) \n\nOverall, a nice place...except can get crowded at choice photography spots..take note :)
(38) This is definitely a temple worth seeing. Unfortunately the restaurants dont share the view, and the food leaves a bit to be desired, but the temple is well worth the trip. It's very dramatic beautiful surroundings and if the tide is out you may be lucky enough to be blessed at the base. The market is great, lots to see you wont find elsewhere and the people are as always lovely.
(39) Before you can reach the temple you have to go through lots of souvenir shop. Most of them sell similar things and it is not cheap at all. If your hotel is not nearby not worth visit.
(40) It was a very hot day we visited the temple. I went with the impression youve seen one temple you have seen them all. Wrong. This temple and grounds was beautiful. There are markets when you first walk in to have a look around. You can walk down to the temple, or up the hill to one side are restaurants where you can have lunch with a beautiful view or the other side there are different lookouts of the temple and surrounding areas. Well worth the visit. Im glad we went.
(41) This is an amazing place. I came here just before sunset which is when it is the busiest with tourists. The view was great and the temple was neat to see out in sea as the tide was in. On the shore side, there are street vendors/markets, cafe, restaurants, and shops that sell wooden penises?? Be aware that there are many mosquitos/fleas here especially at the luwak cafe shop where there resides a few luwak and a giant 2 feet long bat. I felt 10 bites at once. Other than that, the time was amazing. Would recommend this temple.
(42) One of the many temples you will visit on your Bali trip. The views are very nice. We took a lot of photos. Must visit the temples just for the views. A must visit place in Bali. I recommend taking an entire day trip of 3-4 temples as the famous tourist temples in Bali are located at very picturesque places. Note: You just see the temples from outside. You are not permitted to enter the temples.
(43) The pictures and introductions we saw of this place is so beautiful; but it was such a disappointed when we visited it!\n\nWe wanted to spend a few hours here and wait for sunset, but we ended up leaving here soon after we arrived.\n\nIt was so touristy. The sign to the temple led us walking through the street of stalls that sales local clothes, arts, then back to the main street leading to the temple. \n\nThe tide was low, so we can walk to the island where the temple is. To our dismay, the path led to the temple was closed. There was a line queuing up for holy water - you also get some rice on your forehead - you have to \donate\" for it - this is your 'ticket\" to go up another path the the other side of the small island that looks like going up to the temple. Again, another disappointment - it was only about 10 or 15 steps up, then blocked for no-entrance!\n\nPeople were everywhere... Not a place to recommend!"
(44) Large temple complex situated by the ocean 50,000 rupiah to get in and easy to park close by. The jewel of the crown is the temple build on a rock and we were actually lucky in that it was high tide so devoid of tourists making for fabulous opportunities. Many go for the sunset so it gets very busy. Amusingly there is a sunset terrace with around a dozen bars/cafes and every one of them has the works “sunset” in its name. The one downside is that I found this by far the most commercial of all the Bali temples which sort of spoiled it a little but its one of those places you have to see.
(45) Beautiful temple on an island by the sea. History behind it is lovely and the views are really great.\nThat said: It is an absolute tourist trap. Hordes of tourists go every day and you have to dodge tradesmen down alley upon alley of cheap gawdy souvenir stalls.\nJust awful.\nBut once through that the place is very nice.
(46) the most famous, the most amazing temple in Bali, the sunset was amazing, ocean view and waves and rock, we wishes to get back again
(47) Beautiful temple amidst a very tranquil environment. Take a walk on one of the paths by the shore and take lies of pictures.\n\nAs is often the case near the temples and other tourist destinations, you'll see lots of shops as you walk toward the exit. But these shops are well priced and give you a chance to buy some nice souvenirs.
(48) The view itself is killing and you can never snap enough pictures of this beautiful place. Another exciting experience is crossing the short flooded route with strong waves hitting up to your waist at all times. And you get to drink fresh water comes from within the temple in the middle of sea.. fresh water within salt water
(49) We saw this temple and photographed it at sunrise with our photography guide, Yande Ardana. What a wonderful experience! Highly recommended.
(50) Loved this place so much though it was fully crowded. The only negative part is, visitors are not allowed to visit the temple😔\nWe are staying in Risata Resort and decided to hired the 2 wheeler to visit this place which was really good decision as we were able to skip the terrific road jam.\nThere were beautiful colourful shops near by the temple thought we didn't buy anything. As you have to walk a lot so comfortable sleeper is must. Being an vegetarian there was not much to have anything but we managed to have veg roll and chocolate shake at Gloria's jeans.
(51) This place is a definite recommendation.\nThe sunset was quite an eye candy with the temple and sea as a backdrop.\nThe place tends to get crowded because of being a part of the usual tourist circuit so don't expect privacy.\nThe place is perfect for those postcard picture perfect moments
(52) It was raining heavily when we visited. on the plus side this meant that we were virtually alone. the temple is maintained really well and definitely worth a visit. buy bread outside to feed the fish.
(53) Temple built in 1948 that has many water features, bridges, stepping stones, and attractions (public pool, hotel, restaurant, etc.). Nice place to visit in the mountains lwith beautiful rice fields along the way.
(54) Its on a cliff, but apparently when i went, there was a ceremony, so i cant enter the temple. But i did walk to the other end away from the temple to watch the sunset. It was really nice. At nice there is also fire dance by the villagers that u guys can enjoy.
(55) Beautiful views of the cliff is amazing. Waves break in to the cliff and form memorable scenery. Temple it self is restricted to travelers. Worth every penny
(56) Stop off at a beach along the way and aim to get there about 5pm , then see the dramatic \ ketcak dance at 6 pm . Bring your own Sarong plus sash .read the History before you go to this major Temple . Good place to watch the Sunset ."
(57) This was the last stop on an almost 10 hour tour day and no matter how tired we were it was completely worth it! We got there right at sunset and it was beautiful! The temple itself is amazing but being there during the sunset is magical. We did not eat there but I saw a handful of restaurants that lined the coast so you'd have a great view of the sunset. I highly recommend visiting this temple!
(58) This is very old temple situated on the cliff.\nNice place to see the sunset.\nThere is a cultural show after the evening, must see.
(59) Was very eager to visit this temple due to the reviews of this. The taxi driver scheduled the trip in such a way that we reach the temple by sun set. The visit was awesome. luckily there was no sea water around the temple and we could visit the temple. There was a natural water from the temple and people were allowed to drink it and flower was given to the devotees. We cannot see the God in the temple as its not allowed for visitors. \nThere was a small cave near by where we can see and touch the holy snakes for few Rupiah.
(60) This is one of the temples you have to go in Bali. The temple is an amazing place by itself, but it also is a great location to view the sunset. It's very popular so it can be busy at times.
