(1) The sunset view was amazing . \nEntrance fee :30000idr /person.\nGets crowded during sunset .loads of tourist . Usually there is lot of traffic to get out of tanah lot immediately after sunset .\n\nIndian Hindus are also not allowed to get into the temple. Only Balinese Hindus who go there to pray are allowed inside. Their temple their rules . \nDefinitely worth a visit during sunset .
(2) Fourth trip to Bali and never gone to Tanah Lot temple before. This should be on everybody's list of must see in Bali. The temple is perched out on the rocks and when the tide comes in it is completely surrounded. There were quite a lot of people around as is expected but luckily April is in the off season so not as many as there could be. Disappointed In all the retail shops before and after the temple. You come to expect the souvenir shops even though you might not like them but seriously is there a need for them at what is such a spectacular and holy place.
(3) This is my second trip to Tanah Lot and my last trip. To be honest once is enough! If you are staying in Kuta it takes a few hours to get there because of the traffic. When you get there it is very busy and you are bombarded with sellers everywhere. The temple itself is wonderful and if you go on a night when there is a good sunset you should get some excellent photos as the sun goes down. The restaurants are ok and to get the best views you have to go to one of them! They close pretty much once the sun has gone down, so go down to the temple first and get blessed, then make your way up to the restaurant way before sunset so you can at least have time to enjoy your meal.
(4) Tanah Lot is very beautiful place. Temple is located on a small cliff detached from the main land. We visited the place @4PM. we could not visit the temple cliff as it was closed for public due to heavy tides. there are lot of restaurants on the cliff. Must vist place and enjoy the SunSet.
(5) if there can only be one place to visit bali.... Tanah Lot would be my choice, the mystical area, Culture and souvenir store can pretty much reflect what Bali is all about . Bring your CAMERA , NON-SLIPPERY SHOES if you want to walk around and hopefully its low tide when you are here, their local priests are happily blessing visitors----- DONATION ARE APPRECIATED. After your walk, go to the top of the rock right across the temple, and follow the tiny path that takes you to the top. There are RESTAURANTS, COFFEE SHOPS, SOUVENIR STORES. This area will give you a FANTASTIC VANTAGE POINT TO SEE AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE TEMPLE, and while there, SIT AND GET LUWAK COFFEE FROM THIS GUY NAMED PUTU. He has CEVIT CATS lounging lazily , They are his sort of USHER COMMITTEE and a BAT DANGLING UPSIDE DOWN BY THE ENTRANCE WHO WANTS TO SHOW OFF VISITORS HIS ACROBATIC SKILLS, these are his pets THEY ARE friendly.
(6) When we visited it was a cloudy day and it started to rain when visiting tanah lot. It is a collection of temples on cliffs and or rocks in the sea, which are best visited around 6pm at sunset. It allows you to walk to temples in the sea since it is low tide.
(7) this Tanah Lot Temple reccomended by a hotel staff its really looks so beautiful on the internet pictures but reality completely opposit there are so many things to do in bali but i do not recommend This Temple markets everywhare these people always trying to sell something \n\ngo Somewhere
(8) As the final part of our Temple Tour with Discova, we ended up at the world famous Tanah Lot Temple. Whilst it was incredibly busy, like a lot of the stops on the tour, Tanah Lot also boasted some of the most unique vistas. The island temple itself is a gorgeous site to behold, as well as the distinct styling of the statues and gateways that dot the surrounding area all carrying that certain Balinese charm that is impossible to see anywhere else.\n\n Even if you don't go on a tour of Bali's temples, like we did, Tanah Lot should most definitely be on your list.
(9) Tanah Lot is very pretty, and can be viewed from several different locations, on a level, or from above, but it is very, very touristy. I'm not sure that it would be worth coming here for sunset - you'd be better off visiting and then heading to Old Man's.
(10) Worth for the 40 min trip to tanah lot temple. I was there in the evening time. Enjoy both day view and sunset view. If you depart from Kuta town, leave at 3pm so it will get you there before sunset. Sunset time in Bali is 6.20pm. Don't miss it
(11) I've visited Tanah Lot more than 10 years ago. However this place has now become over-commercialized with too many stores, hawkers & cafes. You pay to get in, get lost in the maze of shops that try to distract you & your time before you finally get to see the Tanah Lot temple. More people hawking their wares on the shoreline as you try to see the temple itself. Totally overrated now. SKIP this place!
(12) Did I mention it was crowded? Like there seriously must have been 100+ busloads of tourists plus another 100+ taxi loads of tourists plus another 100+ car and bike loads of tourists and this was a few hours before sunset so it wasn't even the busiest time of the day! The views and photos you can get of the Tanah Lot Temple and the surrounding area are decent, but whether it's actually worth driving 1.5+ hours in heavy traffic to be surrounded by 1000+ tourists all trying to take the same photo and then spending another 1.5+ hours in heavy traffic back to Kuta is a debatable point. We visited a few other temples that were much less crowded where our photos were much nicer than the ones from Tanah Lot. Still, if you have a spare 5+ hours, it's OK, just not particularly peaceful or relaxing.
(13) The views are very scenic as you look at the cliffs into the sea. It was overcast when I visited so there wasn't much of a sunset though I'm it's spectacular on a clear day. I came early to get tickets for the firedance. If you do stay for it expect to have a short wait as all the cars jockey for position to leave the area. It was interesting to compare with Tanah Lot (which I preferred) and worth a visit.
(14) Have been to Tanah Lot a few times but never at sunset, well worth the effort, we had a meal at the restaurant on the cliff face just past the bridge and although it was a bit more expensive and the food was OK the view was amazing and the service was great oh and there was a roving band who asked what we wanted played so asked with a smile for Men at Work, We come from the land downunder and guess what they did a great version of it, made our night.
(15) Reaching tanah lot is a bit of problem, we met with a traffic jam on the way! but quiet disciplined car drivers (cant say that about bikers who drive anywhere they see place)! but once u are there tanah lot is serene !! shopping stalls around, good food also available and lovely chilled coconut water too!!
(16) Every where you go in Bali, you will find the picture of this temple.\nSo really wanted to go here... but be aware. when you book the driver. please specify Ulundanu Temple-Bratan Lake, as there is another temple with similar name.\n\nIts a bit far from Bali, but really worth the visit. On your way back , you can visit Tanah Lot temple.\n\nEnjoy!!
(17) We went to Tanah Lot Temple in the afternoon and explored the Temple, watched the procession of offerings made by locals, it was amazing but quite busy. A beautiful place.
(18) The view is magnificent! It can get really crowded. We stayed in a hotel near by. Each morning before sun rise we walked along the beach to Tanah Lot. It was much less people. There were priests in the cave to give people blessing.
(19) Tanah lot was a good experience, located on the sea shore it offers magnificent views. Expecially during evening time place is perfect to relax. .also there are many shops on the way to fullfill it shopping andfood needs. . Must visit. .
(20) We were lucky enough to be at the iconic Tanha Lot temple just before sunset. The location of the temple is amazing, on a cliff detached from the shore and surrounded by seas. We walked from the shore to the temple through knee deep sea water, since it was low tide. Amazing experience, especially the view at sunset\n\nThe temple complex has number of shops and restaurants
(21) The sunset at Tanah Lot is beautiful! At Tanah Lot, there you can take many beautiful shots of the beach. Tanah Lot is a very popular tourist destination with beautiful sand and kind staff helping to support you as you try to make your way around the beach as the current can be quite strong at times!
(22) Tanah lot entrance fee was idr 20k.\n\nApril is rainy season in bali be sure to bring along umbrella/raincoat with you.\n\nBest time to visit is during sunset. But usually will be crowded.\n\nForeigners are not allowed into the temple. Come here for the view. Good spot for photography.\n\nRecommended!
(23) Seeing the sun set at Tanah Lot temple is one of the 'must do' things in Bali. If you go during the high tourist season, it can take upto 21/2 hours to cover a distance of 20 kms. to reach the temple so budget your time carefully.\nThe sunset is breath taking and the grounds surrounding the temple are very well kept and there lots of stalls selling drinks and snacks. If however, you wish to go inside the temple, it can only be done at low tide so please check up on the tides before you plan your visit.
(24) Tanha lot temple is a good place to visit for a sunset. The main temple is a small hill separated by the sea ..little away from the place where you see it. So you are not really going inside the temple but watching it from cliff. The place is flooded with shops selling typical souvenirs, cafes etc. there is a dance and fire show every evening, we didnt stay for it though.
(25) This place is famous, a symbol of Bali. It's recommended to be a must-visit place over the travel websites and forum. That's why we're here and other tourists. We didn't plan to see the sunset here so we luckily avoided the bad traffic later. Tanah Lot is a good place to sight seeing, taking photos while having a fresh young coconut with the price of 25,000IDR after walking and later shopping on the main road to the temple (the shop named Agung Bali is a must if you want some souvenir and Bali t-shirts with great price!).
(26) Tanah Lot Temple is a Balinese Hindu temple on a rock located in the middle of the sea. This temple is very beautiful especially at sunset. We can see this temple from several spot spots with spectacular sea and sunset views. We will find the temple floating above sea water when the water is rising because this temple will be surrounded by sea water. The word Tanah Lot consists of two words, namely the word Tanah is defined as a coral that resembles a gili or island. The word Lot or Lod means the sea. So Tanah Lot means a small island floating in the sea.
(27) Beautiful scenery with mystical aroma. I'm travelling with my family, many shops & restaurants here. We can buy some handicrafts, eat coconut, and touch a snake also. Better to visit Tanah Lot in the morning or afternoon, because it is quite hot, or wearing hat is good idea. Visit it in the afternoon and we can see a beautiful sunset.
(28) Was driven to visit one of the temple namely tanah lot temple for a sunset watch and sight-seeing. The view was amazing
(29) Tanah Lot is probably the most visited and most photographed sight in Bali. Cant argue for or against this. Its definitely good to visit, but don't set very high expectations. True that the temple and its setting is great and a extremely good place for photographs. But that's about it. Extremely crowed in the evenings. Rather recommend that one visit this early morning to get better shots of the temple.
(30) Me and my husband viaited Tanah lot temple in bali in December 2018 after reading a lot of blogs and reviews about it. There couldnt have been any better disappointment or disaster than that! No doubt the tiny temple has a great cliff view, beach and gardens etc but the crowd!! People had flocked in as though there was something sold for free of cost! There wasnt a space for single person to stand and look at the temple from a distance! The entrance to temple was restricted to tourists due to some loval festival and entrance to the beach was also prohibited for safety. I genuinely failed to understand what exactly for people go there??? Bali has way bettwr views, cliffs and temples than Tanah Lot! Riding for about 28kms from our home in the scortching sun paid truly NOTHING! All you get to see there are loads and loads of people with selfie sticks trying to click their own some 100 pictures with a different pose each time at a same place! I suggest you to explore Bali on your own, and not to really rely upon these over hyped bloggers and reviewers!
(31) Awwwwwwww......the sunset at Tanah lot temple....absolutely stunning and gorgeous....one of the best things to do in bali
(32) We first went to Tanah Lot in the 80's, a lot has changed. There would have been less than 100 people there, these days 1,000's. The temple and surrounds are really beautiful and you really don't regret going there, even with the heat and the crowds. We were there around midday would definitely recommend either early morning or evening.
(33) Personally the temple is best viewed at sunrise before the coaches roll in from Xian, if you want to take in the serenity of your surroundings. If you stay for sunset head further north along the coast away from the hordes of tourists. There are some smaller shrines on the rocks about a 15minute walk away where you can sit and relax and watch the setting sun. It's a great location if you are able to turn a blind eye to the endless plastic and waste strewn across the natural environment just waiting for the next high tide to be sent out into the fragile marine ecosystems.\nPs don't waste you time spending the night in Tanah Lot or for that matter eating there.
(34) Your trip to Bali is incomplete without a visit to Tanahlot Temple. Located at about 22 Kms North west of Bali, is this beautiful temple which will leave your mesmerised in its beauty. There is a strip of market where you can shop for souvenirs and local products before you enter into the temple complex. There are a few viewing points from where you will get a panoramic view of the temple located on a little hillock in the waters. The temple is not accessible to visitors however, you can take the holy waters from down below from the priest. Believed to be guarded by a holy snake, this place is a must visit for every traveller to Bali and be prepared to spend at least 2 hours or more. Sunsets are beautiful if you are lucky to watch one.
(35) My second time to Tanah Lot.. I loved the view of the ocean and the temple.. Bring loads of sun tan lotion as it gets really humid nearby!
(36) This is truely a beautiful place to visit & spend an evening. large very well manicured gardens........ and the sunset is breath taking....Only If your tour operator offers \ Free dinner at Tanah Lot\", do not be fooled. The food at that restuarant at Tanah Lot, is TERRIBLE. a set menu of absolute RUBBISH, even the other 2 tables with us left their food & walked out"
(37) The sunset at tanah lot is nice to see. No temple only coast of the sea. Some people pour over you shudhi (purified) water and for that they charge minimum Indonesia currency of 2000. The sea shore is nice to see
(38) We visited Tanah Lot in May 2017, it was the last leg of our trip. It was just breath taking... a little crowded, but you can work your way around that. The view of the sunset was awesome. We got a good cabbie who took us to a coffee tasting place before getting to the temple. See the pics attached and judge for yourself :)\nA must visit if you are in Bali :)
(39) Tanah Lot Temple is a popular tourist attraction in Bali. Its a temple on a rocky mass close to the shore line. The view is amazing. One can walk to the temple during low tide. It becomes crowded especially during the sun set.\nA good place to shoot great silhouettes..
(40) Tanah Lot Temple has been a really famous destination in Bali, Tanah Lot is located around 30 km away from Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar. Coming from Denpasar on the main highway and arriving in the town of Kediri, you will certainly not miss the large sign at the main intersection announcing the southwest turn to Pura Tanah Lot. To reach the temple of Tanah Lot you will need to cross some dry land then climb a hill to reach the site of the temple, many people reported that the old Tanah Lot was much better than the Tanah Lot we see. But still, for us Tanah Lot is such a breath-taking temple, its even better if you visit them on around 6pm the sunset is really good and pretty and some people said there were tons of big long white snakes underneath the temple in which they believed as their \lucky charm\""
(41) Reached Tanah Lot at 10am plus where the sun is up n strong. The walk to the temple is lined with small shops which offered reasonable price for items with some bargaining skills. \nA lot of tourists are over at the vicinity of the temple so getting a clear shot is almost impossible. But never the least the sight is still quite nice after so many years.
(42) Tanah Lot Temple is a BIG tourist attraction with thousands of people walking around. It is too crowded to really enjoy it. I was happy when I could leave this place and I would not recommend it. There are other beautiful places in Bali.
(43) I actually came to see the Snake Cave Temple adjacent but that was disappointing due to there only being one Snake, the main Tanah Lot Temple was nice but lots of tourists and a bit far from town! Its still well worth a visit and one of the must do sight seeing tours... but dont expect too much!
(44) Very crowded. Unorganised and dirty. Wish tourists take much better care and do not litter. I am not sure which is the best time of the year to visit Tanah Lot Temple.
(45) Tanah Lot Temple was built in 16th century. I like the natural geographical of that place. It very nice and amazing. The temple is only open for local people praying. We as a tourist just take the photo outside.
(46) I have been to Tanah Lot Temple three times. It is certainly a tourist trap with lots and lots of trinket shops on the way in and places to eat and see the ocean on above the cliff. But for all that it is still quite unique and interesting. This is a small temple perched on top of a huge lump of rock at the edge of the beach. At low tide you can walk over to the base without getting wet, but when the tide is in the surf and water isolate the tiny place. The temple is closed to tourists, so what you see from shore is it. But the scenery is both unique and beautiful. This is even more true at sunset when the place gets very busy.\n\nIf you turn left and go up a paved trail before the beach you get to the top of the cliff which looks down on the temple and beach. There are many café style operators here who will sell food and drink at a table overlooking the whole thing. This is the best place for sunset pictures I feel. Just be careful as the edge of the cliff is crumbling in some spots.\n\nYou can also get good pictures along the beach. However, you have to keep alert not to get wet from incoming waves sometimes. And also keep a watch on the tide as some people walk too far down the beach and then get trapped as there is only the one way in and out.\n\nThe temple is a major tourist attraction so be prepared for crowds. It is also about an hour drive north of Denpasar. By distance this is only about 40 km, but the roads are single lane and narrow, so you need to allow time to get there.
(47) Went for a trip out to Tanah Lot. Amazing spot beautiful to sit at the top and look out at the sea and the temple\nThere is a lot of markets and stalls to walk through. It can get a little dizzying with everyone trying to sell you things but the temple and the views overrides all of this \nDefinitely worth while going out to see
(48) Tanah Lot temple has so much to do. The temple itself is beautiful. Then there's a market and some restaurants. I love bargain shopping and the merchants allow you to bargain with them. It was our first tour of our trip and a great way to start our honeymoon adventures.
(49) It's really overcrowded so don't expect to get perfect sunset. The waves were so strong that it hit us although we were few meters above the sea on the cliff. We couldn't go up to the sacred temple as it's only open for prayers' purpose and not for tourists. Go on an adventure and walk far away from the crowd and you will get to the highest cliff there. You will see endless black sands, rocks, big waves and little creatures along the way. Astonishing nature. We were like \wow\" once we made it to the top of the cliff. Magnificent view from the cliff. Nature is definitely amazing. Besides that, tanah lot is also a great place for shopping. I could easily get a Bali dress for Rp25k. Well, i speak their language though. For those who can speak Indonesian you can most probably get local tickets like we did, but make sure you can speak native languages in the respective districts where you tell them you come from. Tanah lot is a must to visit when you are in Bali. Stunning nature!"
(50) We arranged a day tour by Tours By Locals for our port day in Bali. Our driver, Putu, picked the 7 of us up in his air conditioned van.Took us for the day to several sights and each was more beautiful than the previous. Our last one was Tanah Lot Temple on the Indian Ocean. A beautiful setting. Very crowded but large enough to manage the crowds. A long walk down hill to the temple outcroppings but so worth it. Many vendors on the path but not overly intrusive. Several places to rest as it was incredibly hot and humid. A beautiful restaurant right next to the road leading into the temple. Views to die for. We stopped for a drink before heading down to the temple. The owner came out and spoke with us and had actually gone to school in the small Connecticut town we live in when he first came to the US> Talk about small world.
(51) #1 on most Bali bucket lists is sunset at Tanah Lot. It's worth the trip - a beautiful view is on offer from the many available cliff top restaurants nearby and, if the tide is out, you can wander on the beach and visit the holy spring at the bottom of the temple. \n\nHawkers and tourist shops abound but it's not too in your face with a polite no. \n\nFood and drink prices aren't the cheapest but not extortionate either. \n\nA nice relaxing way to start your evening even with a Russian stag do knocking back Arak by the bottle at the next table which probably speaks highly to tranquillity it promotes! ;)
(52) Tanah lot was nice and the landmark was amazing. Good for taking photos and watching sunset in Bali. However, very touristy with bus loads of tourists pouring in around 6pm for the sunset. Make sure you are aware of whereabouts of your companion, as our elderly mother decided to wonder off and took us nearly 30 minutes to find her, not so fun. Other than the slight hiccup, all good
(53) We visited Tanah Lot as part of a tour with a driver and guide and were due to watch the sunset at Tanah Lot which we did. \nIt is like a small village once you get through the main gates with many stalls and food outlets. \nThe temple itself is on a rock and at high tide has sea all around it. \nLots of tourists stay to watch the sunset so pick your spot to sit and watch the sun disappear into the ocean. Even though there were a lot of people there it was still a lovely thing to do. \nWhat came as a surprise however is the murmuration of bats that fly from the caves next to the temple just as the sun sets. Millions of them fly off almost in formation creating the patterns in the sky usually seen with starlings. I am so pleased we stayed a moment longer and didnt miss this sight. Incredible.
(54) We visited Tanah Lot on three evenings during our stay at the nearby Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort in order to look at the acclaimed sunset. Unfortunately the week we visited this area was rainy and overcast at dusk each time so we were not successful in our objective. Access from the nearby hotel is good. It is a short walk from the lobby across the golf course fairway. There is security on the golf course but as a hotel guest, access is permitted. There are a number of little food stalls and souvenir shops along the way once you exit the golf course. There are good photo spots available at the location if you can get clear space from all the other visitors! There are also local photographers there if you forgot your camera. Despite the weather it was still very popular in the occasions we visited. We didn't go across to the temple itself because high tide and rough water at dusk prevented access across the causeway. It is scenic and well worth a visit.
(55) Visited Tanah Lot temple at recommendation of locals. The scenery is absolutely stunning.\nLoved that there was a local market set up at the site, selling locally made wares. Also loved seeing local children praying in costume. Beautiful place. Easily accessible for prams, wheelchairs etc.
(56) The sunset was lovely and the view of the cliff and the sea bed was stunning! But compared to Tanah Lot somehow I prefer the latter. Probably because it was so humid and hot here, with totally no wind from the sea at the time we travelled there in mid February.
(57) Unfortunatelly, we (a couple) came visit Tanah Lot during low tide. However, it didn't distance tourists from it, so the whole area was overcrowded Maybe, they just didn't know (as we either) that miracle of temple being isolated from the mainland happens only during high water. \n\nLuckily, it was prohibited to climb on the temple, so everyone had a chance to take a shot or two of the empty temple on the background of the sea.\n\nIn anyways, during sunset the view was worth it to visit this place.
(58) What an amazing place to visit!! I have been to Bali lots of times, but never been Tanalot,we went during the day.... it would be even better to go later and see the sunset, there is quite a lot to see, including restaurants, shops, market stalls and the amazing Temples and manicured gardens, this place is truly beautiful, you shouldn't miss it. Just something to note if traveling by taxi, the driver wanted to take us to other places along the way....next time we will go straight there
(59) Tanah lot is the temple on the shore side of the beach, is very amazing creature, also this location is very good for enjoying the sunset
(60) I loved visiting Tanah Lot. From the markets selling amazing art, the reptile display with the biggest pythons I have ever seen, photo opportunities galore to the spectacular temple out on the water. We had the best day here. Would highly recommend.
