(1) relaxing place in a wonderful location by the border of a lake surrounded by forests and mountains, but many times rainy... the temple is interesting
(2) Very spiritual place. good time to visit is before the sunset, turn around the temple and take a lot of pictures !! \nYou can dine and watch the sunset.\nafter that watch the theatre.
(3) Beautiful location and the temples architecture was amazing. We were blessed with good luck in the holly waters under the temple(only can get there when the tides out) loved and felt privileged to be there, the sunset was picture perfect...also a great cheap market at the top :)
(4) One must visit this place before 4pm. We got little late by the time we reached, the place was closing. Nevertheless, the temple had a very nice cliff view.
(5) This is one of the 4 primary temple to see when in Bali. It is a wonderful temple and park set on a lake high in the mountains. It reminds me a great deal of the feel and look of Lake Tahoe in the states. I suggest spending a few hours relaxing and enjoy the beauty of the area.
(6) This beautiful sea temple should not be missed. It is believed that a venomous sake at the base of the rocky island is safe guarding from evils .
(7) Spiritual experience. Such a beautiful sunset. So amazing to see the temple at the cliff of the mountain. A once and a lifetime experience.
(8) This is a fabulous place. The whole site (not just temple) is picturesque. In the evenings the sunset is awesome (if no clouds at the horizon). Walking from the parking lot to the temple (about 300 m) there are many shops bars and restaurants.\nPlease mind that many people go to the temple in the afternoon (rash hours starts at 4 pm and finishes about 9 pm when many people drive in and out) so the driving time may be long.
(9) My review is based on the magnificent views and not the temple. There isn't really a,temple to go into so the hype is about walking across the sea at low tide. Be careful walking across as there are slippery rocks and you can fall. You will receive a blessing once you cross and then you will be permitted to walk further up.
(10) Beautiful temple located on a lake. The whole area looks great, although our views were spoilt by the rains.
(11) The temple is immensely filled with artistic work but all that will get you by until sunset time. Once you see the sunset view, nothing will make you leave the place, we spent an entire hour just watching nature, never before have I seen such a beauty.
(12) Probably the best 10,000 Rp ($1) value anywhere. I would guess that most people would drive straight past and not even know it was there. \nThe temple is a great example of the wonders of Bali and how it would have been pre-colonial times; even though it was only built in the 1900's. \nThe hidden gem is that you can pay a little extra and swim in one of the pools at the back - still only Rp 6,000 more.
(13) Beautiful! The famous temple that is on the 50.000 bill! There's nice views and beautiful gardens to look at too.
(14) Arriving in the late afternoon there were loads and loads of other tourist, while in low season, which takes away much of the atmosphere. The temple is small and the most interesting part closed for non-worshippers. The location on the cliff is nice, but you will find (similar) cliffs all over the Bukit Peninsula.
(15) This is one of the landmark of Bali. The temple is nothing special but the view from the cliff is breathtaking especially with the sound of the waves.
(16) The temple is very beautiful to see. Not all gets a opportunity to actually enter the temple as during high tide, the temple surroundings is completely filled with sea water and it is impossible to go to temple without a boat. The surrounding areas are beautiful and are well maintained. Try have a coconut which would suffice hunger of 2 people with costs around 15,000 Rupiah. Nice place for photographers and selfie takers :)
(17) We visited on the evening to catch the sunset. But the sea was on high tide, so we can't walk to the temple island.\nVery crowded with tourist, because this place offer a grand scenery.\nBe careful with the waves, sometimes it's big enough to splash anyone on the beach.\nShopping place around also offer variable things from food, clothes and souvenirs, all with reasonable price.\nI visited this place 2 times and definitely will visit again when I'm in Bali.
(18) Great place for sightseeing with couple or family.\nThe zoo architecture mostly Balinese temple and really beautiful.\n\nLove the hospitality from the safari zoo with explaination or all the animal.
(19) The place is good. But I'm not sure how you'd check the tides of a lake. We've just been there and unfortunately the temple was not surrounded by water so it's very different from what you see in the pictures. The area is small but still ok for a walk around.\nIf you pay to take pics of the birds, you might as well handle them.\nI second the opinion of going early morning. You'd get a more serene feeling. We went in the afternoon and there were too many tourists around.\nYou don't need a sarong to get in here.
(20) Arrived ahead of sunset to explore and very moved by the clmness and uplifting nature of the place. You could cleanse the spirit by drinking the holy water and being blessed by the local Hindu people. Awaiting the sunset over the temple was very moving. Not commercialised at all, tourists very respectful of the religious significance of the temple.
(21) This is a tranquil place. There are lots of place to eat and sit to admire the stunning temples. They have made the walkways wider so it's safe to walk across if they are open.\n\nBefore getting to the temple there are some markets which was a lovely surprise.\n\nWords can't describe the peaceful impact this place has.
(22) Nice place to visit but too many tourists around; tours are screaming here and there. The people sitting in front of the \Holy Snack\" is very rude that he tear off our donations and throw it away because he thought we give too little! Btw only Hindu can get in the temple; others can only see the outside"
(23) excellent temple well worth the effort 20000rph entry fee and no guide needed . cool relaxing place to wander . 2000rph if you want to swim in allocated pools .nice restaurant next door a bit over priced but food was good . highly recommend
(24) This is a great location to take an opportunity for some amazing photos with a background of the lake and the temple behind you. The entrance fee is 100,000 rupia per person which is well worth the trip and relatively speaking is fairly priced.
(25) Huge area, at the entry you have to pay a fee and prepare a sarong as all temple require it! The location is amazing and the view is simelar with Dreamland.
(26) The scenic beauty with temple music playing just makes it all so out of this world. It is a good two hour drive from Ubud. The place has sprawling gardens with the lake Beratan in its back drop. This is definitely worth the visit.
(27) Lovely temple to visit as there are lots of different things to see. It was very busy but everything is nicely spread out so it didn't seem too crowded and we hardly noticed it after a while.
(28) It was not the most fantastic temple I have seen but the sunset view along with fire dance show in the evening are fantastic. I could feel a particularly energy there. It is believed to be one of the spiritual pillars of Bali. Disadvantages: A lot of tourists and huge monkeys everywhere (they can be aggressive sometimes so beware)
(29) Temple stands on a lake edge. The grounds are covered with beautiful gardens bursting with flowers. Well maintained and peaceful. Worth a visit.
(30) decent religious place for people who love art and culture... u will not be allowed to enter some of their places but many places you are allowed to see and are beautiful
(31) Temple is located in beach and people cannot enter into the temple.. This place has the scenic view and enjoy the beach and view.
(32) Overall this place looks really nice, too bad you cant enter the temple on the rocks by the shore... there is amazing sunset view and ocean looks amazing when waves crush. This place is really crowded! We were in the most popular time of the day so it was a mistake... I felt more like on concert or on the crowded train station...
(33) Not very known place among tourists or maybe a bit too far from the overcrowded areas. Anyhow, it is worth the visit as this temple that combines water and architecture is just mesmerising. You can take a quick Holy bath if you dare too.
(34) Amazing view and one of the most visited temples in Bali. It was raining when we visited the temple. One has to cross the keen length water to go to the temple . Worth visiting . So please dress up accordingly if you prefer to go to the temple . Though tourists are not allowed to go inside the temple but one can worship in a small cave at the bottom of the temple . Also local stuff available to buy at reasonable price .
(35) It's about 2 hours drive from Ubud (taking in the jam and road closure) with very hilly roads - those with lots of ups and downs, right and left slopes. \n\nThe temple is quite high up in the mountain so it gets quite chilly. The clouds hang low and the humidity is high too. There are some other attractions nearby notably the strawberry farm. This temple is the one that's printed on the rupiahs - great place to experience the lake, mountains and soak in some nature. \n\nOpposite the temple there's a surprisingly good lunch place that's reasonably priced.
(36) It is so worth it to go at sunrise or sunset. The sky and the sea get beautiful colors so you can admire the temple with the landscaping behind it.
(37) Very good view to see sunset!!! It's interesting destination to come here if you come to Bali. It has also beautiful beach and cliff. Moreover, it has holy water in the cave. Surprisingly, there is holy snake in the cave which balinese people believed that it's good luck snake.
(38) we just loved the location couldnt understand their traditions but loved the temple location must visit
(39) The location will definitely mesmerize. The temple is situated on a peak, that drops off 90 degrees to the sea. Waves crashing on the rocks & the underwater flora gives the water a crystal blue color. Offers some amazing photo spots. A Balinese folk-dance (every day at 6 PM- limited 150 seats) wonderfully showcases Balinese religion (Hinduism) & cultural heritage..
(40) Great view of the sea, the cliff and a pleasant wind that blows across your face. Good distraction from a hot day. The temple is only for locals. And if you have a snake phobia like me, watch out for the snake charmers around.
(41) The scenary at the temple is nice. There is a place where it contains Holy Water where you can get some blessings. Other than the scenaries, there is nothing much. It is a temple where Hindus perform the various ceremonies.
(42) Built on an offshore rock, this temple has a mesmerizing view. This temple is a must see when in Bali. Touched by huge waves with sun setting in the background, this temple looked like some movie set up. One has to be there physically to feel the place, can't be explained in words.\n\nOne thing is be sure not to be carried away by hawkers. Not selling genuine stuffs.
(43) Wonderful temple and manicured grounds on a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains ......\nIt's 50,000 to get in and it has a restaurant and kids park and boats
(44) Great views of this temple although the cloud made sunset photography a bit of a missed opportunity. On the plus side, our visit by chance, coincided with a big religious ceremony on the day of a Full Moon so very impressed with a huge procession.
(45) well keeping place ,beautiful temple ,worth to visit ,it has very good climate and has many things around the area.
(46) Unique place with absolutely outstanding views on the cliffs. The temple itself in nothing special. Can't say the same about the nature and landscape with raging sea and massive cliffs. Definitely worth the visit. Just be prepared for numbers of Chinese tourist....
(47) This temple is lovely and attractive. It surrounded with a beautiful nature's view especially the sunset in the afternoon visit no wonder when we came in this place there were lots of people visited and enjoyed taking pictures. Good rocks formation and landscape. Nice experienced indeed.
(48) Easy destination to pop into and check out. Takes about an hour. Beautiful and well looked after gardens. We had a tour guide who briefed us on the different temples. Fun statues throughout the place.
(49) Stay away from the tourist vendors and make the most of this temple you can receive a blessing un der the temple and then go and sit on the ocean side and mediate you will leave feeling great
(50) We were there as part of a guided tour.\nWe were lucky enough to get to see a burial ceremony for 150 people, it was very interesting. \nIt's good if you have a sarong with you during your visit there, as it might be needed. \nThe only minus is that it is always full of tourists.
(51) This is my second visit to this temple (Been there few years back, recently is bringing my in laws travelling) , still a great place with superb scenes. Be careful while walking on the rocks as it is slippery, and if you intend to standing on top of some rocks for photo shooting, just be careful aware aware if the waves are big. I witness a tourist ( from China ) were hit by wave and fall down from the rocks and she get's hurt. However, just find your own favorite spot for take pictures as its normally crowded with lots of tourists around. You may walk to the temple and get blessing from the monk, just put some donations and hope this place can be well maintained.
(52) The sunset is simply breathtaking. Standing at the foot of the temple and looking at the waves crashing onto to shore is just mesmerising.
(53) If you are a normal person, do not waste your time here. It's far from Ubud, there's nothing to do, the crowds are insane, and it's just ONE picture worth taking. you cannot even go inside the temple, as it's in the ocean and there's no path to get there. I saw the good reviews and came here and was seriously disappointed. Bali is such a beautiful island and there's SO many great things to see, this just isn't worth it at all.
(54) A beautiful temple located on an island off the coast. It can only be accessed at low tide. Its very touristy. We enjoyed the walk up the cliff to take pictures and ambled our way through the market. The famous site is a worthwhile stop.
(55) We went by this temple on a day trip with a driver from Ubud. It is about 2 hours north. The air is a bit cooler here, so bring a jacket. The views were nice of the temple and surrounding area.
(56) The temple is truly beautiful, and the drive there takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery on Bali. At about 1000 meters above sea level it was also pleasantly slightly cooler here. We did a short walk in the area, bought some local strawberries and stopped for lunch at a nearby place. It's a little out of the way but worth visiting.
(57) Yesterday was the first time for me and my friends came to this temple. We really liked it. It was far because our hotel was in Ubud but, when you arrive and saw how beautiful the main temple than you will wouldn't complain about the far.
(58) This small temple is easily approached from the hotel. The Hotel even can arrange the visit. The small pagoda type temple is a wonderful sight and must visit even if you do not stay at the Pan Pacific Nirvana Resort.
(59) We visited there at the raining day however the temple is beautiful and traditional. It's beside the lake.
(60) We went here with a private driver booked online and had dinner at a nice restaurant. Tourist trap but we still enjoyed the ceremony at the some part artificial temple with fresh water. Beautiful scenery!
