(1) This place is mainly famous for the Hindu god Vishnu temple. The temple is located at the edge of the mountain stripping down to the ocean. The location is more attractive during sunset. During sunset, a traditional Balinese dance program performed just outside the temple. One has to pay IDR 100,000 for the dance show. To see the dance show make sure you arrived the temple way before sunset. The sites are limited and it sold out very quickly.\nThe are is full of monkey. Be careful of them. They might snatch your sunglass or spectacles. Try to work in a group, and if possible try to avoid their path\nThe entry fee is IDR 40,000 for adult and IDR 20,000 for child.
(2) Lots of weddings go there to take pictures.the overview is WOW. You can see the cliffs and have a nice walk following it.the temple is very small.\n\nAvoid oplsying with the monkeys. The most aggressive animals I have seen. They loves glasses and hats and water bottles. They will harm you if you don't cooperate.\n\nJust go there for the view and the short walk.
(3) A beautiful temple in Bali that worth a visit. Though, prepare yourself for hordes of tourists just worried about getting the perfect picture. They transform the place into a long queue for the 'doors of heaven' spot (even if you don't want to take an \epic fake reflex instagram picture\"). That temple is more than that…"
(4) Great temple with beautiful sights. The people around the temple aren't too pushy which is good. In this temple you can make beautiful pictures.
(5) The day we went there was a ceremony going on but it was still beautiful to go down & watch the activities. Lots of rubbish though & it's a shame that tourists & locals litter like this. Would be nice to be able to go into the temple however respect the ceremony taking place
(6) One of the most beautiful place I've ever seen. The temple on the lake with hills around. Whole area is well maintained. It was low season so not so crowded.
(7) Nice view of the area. Good to visit on a Sunday coz u get to see the locals going there to pray and perform their rituals decked in their customary attire. \n\nYou can try the Luwak coffee too. Go Google it to find out more. Tastes like coffee too except that the beans are obtained differently. 😉
(8) Unique temple located on a rock platform. You have to wait till low tide to access the temple. Alot of tourist, shops and souvenirs just outside the temple. \nWhen high tide all you can do is taking pictures with the temple backdrop.
(9) This is an amazing temple on water, clean and peaceful without anyone harassing you at the gate. No guide needed you can visit the temple on your own... On your way to pemuteran for example please make a stop here....
(10) Don't go here by that you are visiting the temple, its a tourist attraction for a long leisure ride from Nusa Dusa. Amazing view from the Temple premises, much visit if you visit Bali.
(11) This place is very busy and lots of people around but if you can try to ignore them the view is spectacular. We went around midday and we were lucky our guide organised for us to be blessed by a priest currently at the temple - go and have a look for yourself!
(12) This is a lovely temple sitting on a small island on the lake. It is very photogenic.\nOn the day we visited it was cold and misty at the lake, even though it was hot & sunny on the coast - make sure you take a sweater!!\nGreat drive through the countryside to get to the temple.
(13) A must see place, especially towards sunset.\nWith the tide out, you are able to walk down to the shore close to the waves and take lots of great pictures of the temple and the surroundings.\nAt sunset, it can prove to be one of the most beautiful scenes you have had the privilege of experiencing.
(14) Go in the morning as you are more likely to have blue skies. Really nice spot and there might be a ritual going on if you are there at a weekend. \n\nThis is the temple on the 50,000idr note
(15) One place to start u r Bali trip.. Very close to south Bali, one of the nicer places to start exploring the city. You might need a vehicle to travel as the public transport is not very great. But once you get there, you will love the spot.\nI would suggest you to reach at around 3 pm, so that you can visit the temple. After 5 pm the tide rises, so you cannot reach the temple. There will be volunteers to help you wade through the waves. The sunset is best enjoyed at around 5.30 to 6.00 pm.
(16) Since September 2020 you have to park and take of shuttle bus to go there that cost 50 000 IDR. Then you have to pay the entrance ticket of 100 000 IDR (and it's doesn't even include a guide) This is the most expensive temple in Bali!! DEFINITLY NOT WORTH THE PRICE AND NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT IT (just the instagramable gate). Go see Besakih temple instead, way more interesting as you get a guide and it is a beautiful big complex. My advice if you really want to go and don't mind walking in the jungle following an easy path with stairs, enter by Pura Lempuyang Madya
(17) Went to see the temple. Unfortunately, it is off - limit to the public. However, at the beach you see a fabulous rock formation. The location is very good for relaxing. Also has nice view for sunset. A very calming place.
(18) Not interested in Temples but this temple was a very unique experience . Make sure you visit during low tide otherwise its very difficult to cross the sea . Went here during the evening and as soon as we came out of the temple the water level rose ..Was luck to be in time
(19) Maybe I got a little tired of seeing temples, but I thought this would be a lot more impressive than it actually was. The landscape surrounding it is beautiful - that is, the mountains and the lake. The gardens in the entrance are beautifully kept in mint condition, but the temple is just like any other temple, and similar to those in Ubud, Also, it isn´t floating or in the middle of the lake. If you haven´t yet seen an Hindu temple it may impress.
(20) Excellent view to chill yourself, enjoy the serenity of this temple. Waves are high and stunning, and I enjoyed taking photo every time waves hitting the rocky cliff. Out of this world.
(21) Beautiful Temple on the lake, the weather can change anytimes there and mostly rain.\nI love the view and the nature. It take about 2 hours from Legian to this Temple, all the way you will see nice view and nice air
(22) Beautiful ancient temple overlooking a great sunset! You must not miss this place out when in Bali whether solo or with friends!
(23) We managed to nail the weather on the day which is a must do since nothing is under cover. \nWe went for sunset which I highly recommend as the temple views are incredible but photos look amazing with the ambience of the coloured sky. \nAfter sunset, everyone piles out pretty quickly which creates lots of traffic getting out and on the roads nearby. \nIf you have time, sit in the gardens (there is ample lighting) grab a BBQ corn, cold drink or brouse the stores for half hr and you'll have a much easier trip home. Our driver recommended this and it really paid off when we saw the mass exit.\nEven though access to the temple is restricted, the entire landscape is still incredible and worth 2hrs of your time.
(24) I was lucky that i went to this place couple of years a go when travelling wasnt as simple as it is now. Not many people can go travel as it need a lot of money. I got lucky that i could visited this place when it was still calm, not crowded. Enjoy the canoe, enjoy the view, the pura (temple), it is just as calming as it can be.
(25) This was the first temple we visited in Bali, and I was blown away with it's beauty! You get dropped off a quarter mile or so away from the temple and walk through restaurants and shops to get to the temple. Once you reach the area of the temple there are great views, and you can walk near the temple on the beach. There are many different views you can get of this temple. For a small donation, you can drink (which I wouldn't recommend) the holy water and get blessed. A fun touritsty thing to do :)
(26) There is a really very beautiful view on the ocean and a unique sunset. But the temple's architecture is kind of ordinary. Take your best camera with you! If it's sunny, prepare for a warm weather because the walkway along the ocean has no shade.\nBetter get there at least an hour before sunset. There is a kind of small religious ceremony at the sunset. It looked strange to me! but I think it did worth watching once in life to experience different cultures. You should purchase tickets for it and there are limited seats, it's better to buy them first.\nI strongly suggest you to leave before the ceremony is over because once it finishes all the buses and cars prepare to go at the same time and there will be a very heavy traffic.\nThere are some monkeys, so watch your bags!\nOutside you can take coconut milk and enjoy ;)
(27) This is an absolutely fantastic site. A temple on the ocean, with the surf rolling by, Incredible view. An absolute must see while in Bali. It was well worth the one hour it took to get there from our hotel.
(28) This temple is located out in the water. It looks absolutely amazing when the sun sets.\nThe water comes crushing in and makes sure no one visits the holy ground of the temple
(29) except maybe for the tacky frogs, but even they were quaint! Great spot to take the kids, there's a playground, animal statues, paddleboats and a nice little restaurant. The temple itself is gorgeous in the lake, obviously. There was not many people there when we were there (April) and the serenity was only briefly spoiled by a motor boat screaming past on the lake.
(30) I love this place so much cause is very warm and natural. You can see the local prayers and their ceremonies if you have luck. I took good picture with this tample
(31) This temple is beautiful and an iconic symbol of Bali so definitely a must visit. The temple wasn't as big as I'd seen in the pictures but it was not a disappointment. It was a little bit overcast when we visited but we still got some stunning photos
(32) We went in the middle of the day and it was already busy (apparently it gets even busier for the sunset). To get to the temple you have to walk through countless shops and restaurants and once there you get to look at the temple situated on top of a large rock on the beach but cant get close to it (only around the base of the rock).\n\nWe went, we saw but we werent massively impressed.
(33) We love seeing this temple, however it was very crowded with tourists. I hadn't seen this temple for over 30 years and it really hasn't changed except for the amount of people there.
(34) It took us an hour plus to reach the temple from Ubud center but it was worth the while. While the place is crowded with both tourist and visitors, the setting of a temple on the lake is simply breathtaking. The fogginess and fountain makes the view magical while the cool air makes for an easy walk. There were prayers going on and it is really interesting to look at the procession. It makes a good place for a picnic or just to hang around to enjoy the cool air.
(35) It's a beautiful and fascinating location. The temple is enchanting and the views are stunning. The ambience is slightly marred, particularly at sunset, by the hordes of tourists jostling for position to take pictures and the various hawkers ceaselessly trying to grab your attention. The sunsets are incredibly photogenic but the best surprise occurs just after sundown when thousands (possibly millions) of bats stream out of the cave like a plume of smoke, for between 5 and 10 minutes - which many people seem to miss. A truly magical experience - however using the restrooms at the site is not!!! Hence only 4 stars
(36) Visited the temple during our day tour. It wasnt busy as it was early in the morning. There were some Hindu celebration which was interesting to watch. \n\nThe surrounding areas was very nice with the lake in the middle. Apart from that, it was very nice area for a stroll.
(37) The place is great with a lot of tourist. I think this place offers great view of the temple and ocean but I find the entrance fee a bit expensive for just sight seeing activity.
(38) Overall it was a nice experience. The price was a bit much at 6$ Canadian. Also we had to walk through streets of markets before we got near the temple. The walk around the temple grouds was very beautiful.! The view of the water and the temple was excellent. Only issues was it was very busy and hard to make our way around other tourists to take a photo. We couldn't go into any temples and we had to do a washing ritual (with a donation) before going up ~10 steps of the temple then having to turn around. It was a nice trip all around.
(39) Beautiful temple, best to visit during low tide. The views are amazing. Definitely a must when in bali.
(40) This is another Hindu temple in Bali dedicated to Hanuman and Varundev (Wind God). The temple is on top of a plateau peak. The surrounding stretch of coastline is tall 'V' shaped natural rock wall and you should walk along the entire distance to have beautiful views of the sea from this height. The water remains calm and you can see different shades of color in sunlight. \n\nIt is amazing to see so much influence of Ramayana in Bali. Must visit when in Bali.
(41) Extremely beautiful gardens and temple very busy but well worth stopping and having a look, great photos opportunities.\nOverall happy with our visit
(42) We spent around two hours here, there is more to the complex than just the temple in the sea so make sure you make the most of your time. It isn't as crowded or touristy in the mornings, that said there are market stalls on the way into the temple if you want to do some shopping. There are some great areas for photos if you wander around with your eyes open, remember this is a temple area, people come here for religious purposes so respect the customs, it isn't Disneyland and it wasn't built as a tourist attraction.
(43) The views from the temple are great. That's about it. It's far away and the temple was really lame. Not much to look at other than the view.
(44) We visited at lunchtime, knowing that people usually come to see the sunset, and the crowds were still ridiculous. This would be such a beautiful and peaceful place if it wasn't for the bus loads of tourists. Unfortunately this ruined the experience for me as you felt hussled up the paths, and it was hard to find a place to take a decent photo of the temple, which is what you came to see. It is certainly worth seeing but perhaps try visiting in the morning?? Maybe then you can enjoy a quiet moment in this holy place.
(45) We got here when it was still high tide, but over the period of an hour the water started to recede, and we could visit the temple. \n\nThe views of the ocean, cool breeze even on a hot summer day, and the Temple are just out of this world. A must visit place if you are going to Bali. \n\nEnsure you plan your trip at low tide so that you can walk all the way to the temple.
(46) The site is full really full of sellers and restaurants. The main interest is the sea and that is about all as you cannot go into the temple but only see it from outside.
(47) Beautiful view from the top. Got nice pictures of the scenic view. Awesome experience.\nDefinitely worth seeing this temple
(48) Most beautiful temple situated on rock hill in the sea , we can walk up to, but cannot enter. There is place in the entrance you are given blessings by priests.
(49) It's a nice place for photo, temple by water side. There're quite a lot of spot for post card photo, however there's no much detail/ information about the temple (like history) and no access to inside of the temple as well. So it's like a walk in the beautiful park only.
(50) As the other temples, this one has its own attraction, and you have to take your time to walk all around. As it happens with these attractions there's nothing to do that walk, seat down for a minutes and enjoy the view...and that's it. IT LACKS a lot of touristic infraestructure to make tourist stay there more than expecte; take care of tide webb, could be dangerous. To get there has to handle TERRIBLE TRAFFIC of balinese roads. I recommend you to rent a bike.
(51) As in many of the temples here in Bali, people flock to take pictures and forget these are holy sites. In this case the site is very beautiful and its a shame that most people treat it like visiting a garden and not a shrine. They feed the fish and all get in line on the pond and it doesnt feel sacred any more.
(52) We visited on a sunny day with clouds rolling in across the lake from the mountain and you could not ask for a more picturesque scene, the temple is beautiful. In addition, the well maintained colourful gardens that you walk through, and the deer enclosure, provide plenty of photo opportunities. There are also a variety of boat trips available on the lake.
(53) A holy place by a holy lake ... the temple is really great as you discover it step by step going towards the lake.\nTake your time as you'll find many tourists with you so ... slow down and enjoy the place.\nWe had lots of fog the day we went, is created an amazing atmosphere with temples appearing & disappearing every minute ... Great souvenir!!
(54) People come to this temple to take a picture with a piece of glass. Yes the photo is spectacular and Instagram is full of these pictures but its a shame that people dont come for the history and religion.
(55) I travelled here from our resort in Kuta, it took about 1 hour in a van. We were greeted by a guide that placed purple sarong's around us to cover our bare legs and he continued to be our guide as we with my young son he offered protection for him from the aggressive monkey's that live around the grounds of the temples. There is also a fee to enter the temple which is a different charge. My husband & I were aware that he would be after a fee for his service and happily agreed to pay him. He was very friendly and nice, if you do not want to pay a guide make sure you say no thank you and continue on your own. The view was lovely and there are many steps to climb so do not recommend for anyone that has trouble climbing. There is A LOT of tourist bus loads of them so if you are looking for a peaceful experience at a temple this is not the place to have it but the views make it worth while.
(56) We visited this temple during chinese new year and so the grounds were very busy but there was still a lot of opportunity to have a good look around. The gardens are beautiful and the temple itself is stunning - if you could go during a ceremony I imagine the spectacle would be even better.\nThe restaurant (not he buffet) one is not very good but as there are no other options in the area it is ok. Also make sure you find the western/tourist toilets as we unfortunately went into the local ones which were very unhygienic.
(57) According to the locals the water was only so low because of the dry season but it takes away a lot of the spirit if the temple is not surround by water but ppl are walking there on the shore. \n\nWe've been there beginning of October and the lake was missing more than 1 meter of water.
(58) Full of tourists, the park doesn't show any respect for culture. Full of photo spots, that's all. The original temple is nice but everything around it is disappointing.
(59) It's a beautiful temple with a very beautiful sea view. Had been there during the evening. Could not go to the main temple because of high tide. The sunset from the temple altitude is very beautiful. There are also many restaurants offering drinks/juices and finger food. Worth a visit.
(60) This place is featured in the old version of IDR 50.000, so I suggest you to bring some for a creative photoshoot. Aside from the temple there's nothing else to see and it is usually very crowded. You can sit down on the lakeside and enjoy the scenery and nice breeze, while watching some people play water sports activities.
