(1) The temple site is outstanding, but it's been developed so much to accommodate hurdles of tourists that come every day that it has lost its attractiveness. Not worth a detour!
(2) ok place. if you stay away from the main temple. too many tourists. but no touts, so thats good. walk about the whole grounds. some groovy holy men are about. they're nice. has resturant & bathrooms. can buy water. easy parking
(3) Views, views and more views. \nGreat historical site of religious significance to the local area and its residents.
(4) The location of temple & surrounding area is simply amazing. See the pictures you will fall in love with the beauty of this place. Well maintained, neat & clean, great housekeeping.\n\nI still wonder why in Bali Temples are not open for public most of them are out of reach to tourist & believe to locals as well.\n\nEven to reach near the temple you have to be very lucky if the tide is low then only can reach otherwise see it from Garden area ONLY
(5) i dont know what to say about this place beside its great..for history and temple lovers its magnificent! just go and enjoy
(6) This is a must if your in Bali for the first time. Very nice scenery. Just by the seaside area. Lots of photography area and shops area leading towards the temple. You will definitely enjoy yourself.
(7) We have been to Bali before but have sort of avoided these sort of attraction as they are so packed. But we were a little bored in Canggu and thought we would head over to the temple. It was amazing actually and worth the visit.Surf was really big so we couldn't get it to temple or snake caves bugger
(8) There's a wonderful view from the top of the cliff near the temple but the building itself is not exactly awesome. Watch out for guys offering you a \guided tour\" as they expect 100,000 rupiah!"
(9) Such a beauty of a sunset and temples on both sides. I felt like I wanna visit the place every single day in my life.
(10) my wife and I are Catholics and we celebrated the Hindu festival on Feb 10 2016 by being shown how to pray in the temple by our local balinese driver. It was an experience that neither of us will forget, very humbling. The Balinese people are so friendly and genuine.
(11) We visited the temple during our time in Bali. While the temple is beautiful we thought it was overly crowded for sunset views of the temple. Next time we will try to get to the temple for sunrise which should be less crowded. Overall it is still worth a visit to see a beautiful sacred structure in the midst of crashing waves.
(12) The temple itself is OK ish compared to say Besakhi. Really it's the location by the sea. It would be great with some serenity but they charge you 60000 rupee entry fee and it's full of tourists. Pleasant if you go uphill to a cafe to overlook the site. 6.5 out of 10
(13) The temple is jampacked during our visit so it took us a while to capture some good photos with photobombers free. They say that it's a good place to catch the sunset here, unfortunately we didn't catch a good one. If others want to visit this i suggest they should come early so that they can enjoy this temple.
(14) This temple was worth every penny spent to drive there. So spiritual and majestic that is really shows what Bali is all about. Try to book your tour around sunset. Although it is busy, it is 100% worth it.
(15) Beautiful view \nVery nice temple to look from the outside \nYou are not allowed in the actual temple \nThe cost is really high to just see the walls
(16) The idea to build a temple on a rock ground in the sea is good enough to make it look outstanding and unique. When I was there, however I was not given the chance to see this majestic view so that was a little disappointing. The site is very busy with visitors and all kind of merchants.
(17) Beautiful temple situated on the beach...high cliffs, rolling surf...best to visit when tide is out which allows you to get a blessing from a priest
(18) It's a must visit place . Go at sunset time. The views are breathtaking. If it's high tide than you cannot visit the main temple area. It's a very beautiful place with big market around it. Fixed entrance fees is to be paid at entrance. A very beautiful place. We loved it.
(19) I found this place very nice and calm. There are not thousand of tourist as in others monuments in Bali. \nI really recommend this place to hide from the crownded and unfriendly balinese people who tries to cheat you every time they can.
(20) Went there with my family and was amazed with the awesome weather and incidentally it started raining which made the weather even more awesome. Normally it is cloudy with cool breeze but it became chilly. Also other temple itself one cant go in but its an ancient temple which is definitely worth a visit. \n\nIts in the itenary of most operators but if its not then do visit.
(21) The temple is located on a rock, accessible only at low tide. But in fact it's not open to public. The real attraction is sunset, but thousands of people know that. And when the Sun actually disappears, they applaud and go away.\nWe had the good luck to attend a local racak dance just after that, a very good performance indeed.
(22) This temple has been on everyone bucket list when it comes to bali trip, some people might not aware that it takes so much efforts in order to capture themselves at so called \heaven' gate\". The people will patiently waiting on long queuee especially on weekend (10 am to 2 pm) with only 10 minutes slot that given to you. Best time to be there is on weekdays or if you cant do it on weekdays then adjusting your arrival time to be 6 am or 4 pm will more way better. Bare on your mind, lady who is on period strictly prohibited to enter this temple"
(23) It's a very religious place and awesome beach. You can do pray there in traditional way and it's very religious place as well. You can click beautiful photos there near temple and beach. It will be included in any packages you hire for visiting Bali.
(24) This breathtaking temple is in moutains, so take some jacket or long sleeves, but it's piece of heaven on the earth...
(25) When deciding to come here it is so exciting until i really in this south part of Bali, on the the beautiful cliffs temple that amaze me. The driver took me around and showing some photo spots, thank you mr putu. I will always remember this site in my life.
(26) The sunset alone is worth the visit but be warned, it is very touristy (understandable, it is after all a landmark site), crowded and even if you can get across to the main temple (only accessible during low tide) you won't be allowed in.\n\nGlad we went as for us, the sunset alone was worth the visit/wait. If you're expecting anything more/different, then this may not be on your top 10 list.
(27) Very old and revered temple in Bali..According to our guide one priest came from Java in 8th century to this place to preach Hinduism in Bali.He established this temple and more and more people were attracted to Hinduism by his preaching. \nThe temple is located on a small ,hill descending towards the sea (Indian Ocean) Due to constant onslaught of high tide pounding the foot of the hill there has been corrosion of rocks as a result the temple, looks as if it is in the sea.Large,no of tourist visit this temple. The entire area has, been maintained properly giving a pleasant feeling to the visitors
(28) Worth checking out as long as its on the way to or from somewhere else..\nWas very crowded when I went..\nIts a nice walk with really nice temples to view..\nThe view of the lake and the mountains around it are beautiful \nHave a look👍🏻
(29) The temple is located at a very high clift and I was amazed with how beautiful Indian Ocean is from here. The temple is maintained well and this place makes me feel calm and relaxed. Great place to catch the sunset and for Balinese dance at night. Highly recommended
(30) It's a beautiful and must visit place in Bali. You have to pass through shops and few steps to reach there. \nTemple was closed when we visited there. we watched sunset and enjoyed the beach. It was crowded.\nThere are lot of temples in Bali but this one is near by sea which attracts the people most.(atleast it attracted us).
(31) This Temple on the sea is breathtaking, the atmosphere is relaxing and serene with the mixture of gardens and Ocean breeze
(32) We came here on my first day in Bali, and it was a beautiful day, but the tide was high and we were not able to walk to the temple. By looking at photos, I think you are able to walk if the tide is low. I didn't really get the significance of the temple, and felt very overwhelmed with the crowd and the numerous vendors hawking whatever they had to sell. It was nice to sit and have a drink at one of the restaurants overlooking the temple. On the way back to the car, we looked at dresses, and I bought 2 dresses.
(33) I was excited to visit this temple and watch the sunset. Wish I stayed at the hotel now. It was roughly an hour drive from Seminyak, and was shocked to find out it cost 60,000 IDR per person. Then you walk through tons of market stalls and shops, even a Ralph Lauren store (!?!?). When we finally reached the temple I was extremely underwhelmed. It was the most crowded attraction we have visited, it was packed. It has been way too commercialised which is very unfortunate, they are just using it to exploit money now. The sunset was nice, but it's hard to get nice pictures through the crowds of bodies. Also make sure you have transport because there are no taxis in the area. It was a total waste of time and money for me, I would have rather have done nothing at all and saved money and relaxed.
(34) The place is breathtaking , the temple was locked when we went , as a matter of fact all temples in Bali have restricted access , we didn't get to go inside any temples since al of them were closed ,don't know if they have particular entry timings , there is a golf course near by and u can see it from here , when there is low tide u can walk across to the other side so make sure you go well prepared to walk in the water , that is if u r a little more adventures , on the whole it's a beautiful place and a must visit
(35) I went here expecting great things everyone had said how great it was because it's on the 50000 Rp but I was left greatly disappointed not only was it one of the most expensive temples we visited there were tourists everywhere, it was like it had lost all its spirit and become a money making theme park which is unfortunate because the area where the temple is a beautiful setting
(36) This typical Balinese temple floats on the lake Beratan, which is very nice to see. Also, it is in use as a temple, which gives it a good atmosphere, especially when there is a religious ritual going on. The downside is the entrance fee of 50.000 Rupiah. I have read the comment here that there should be no entrance fee, however I bought a ticket in one of the buildings between the parking lot and the temple complex, so I do not really see how I could have avoided paying this. Another downside was the tourism that definitely has had an effect on the level of authenticity in this place. It is nice, but if you look for old and authentic, I suggest to go to Ulun Puran Danu Buyan, which is nearby (actually some of the photos with this attraction are shot there).
(37) So happy we were able to go here. The first thing that greets you is a fantastic view of the sea.\n\nTo your right is a small temple with good views. To your left is the way towards the main highlight. The temple in the sea.\n\nIt's really exciting once you see the structure in the middle of the sea plus the people crossing the sea to get there. Instantly we knew we had to try that as well.\n\nThe waves can get pushy while crossing to the temple so better take care of your gadgets coz the water can splash quite strongly.\n\nOverall a good spot for pictures and a place that's truly unique.
(38) This was a beautiful place. My husband and I enjoyed the sunset a lot. But ticket price for visiting a temple was exorbitant!
(39) The temple is beautiful. The place is ideal to hang around and have a coffee while enjoying the sunset. A must see in my opinion.
(40) I simply cannot understand why people flock to this place. The temple itself is nowhere as nice as numerous other temples in Bali. There are hundred of junk souvenir shops all trying to pressure you to buy their overpriced crap. This place is a total waste of a day
(41) this temple unlike the other temples you see in Bali. The most attractive part is the pool with small steps so that people can walk across it. There are many fish in that articular pool and you can feed the fish too. Apart from that pool there is another pool where you can take bath and swim (but there is a separate fee to use it). As usual, it was very peaceful and tranquil here. Highly recommended. Entrance fee in 30K Rupiah
(42) My wife and me went there right on time for the Sunset, thanks to our tour guide (KETUT) arrangement. Those temple and landscape simply a signature for Bali.\nAbsolutely a must go.
(43) This place is just beautiful and tranquil with the temples in the water but you can't go inside and the wonderful well kept grounds, and there are a few market stalls on the outside
(44) The temple is gorgeous and splashing around in the water is great too but you needn't spend much time here. Besides the temple there is a big market aimed at tourists, and that's about it really.
(45) Highlights :\n1. The temple is attractive both in low & high tides\n2. The Shopping & eating outlets are very good & reasonable (bargaining possible)
(46) The temple is open to the public but is also in constant use by devotees. It was very crowded when we visited as it was a day of purification and there were lots of families there for the procession and ceremony. Quite a lot of steps and walking involved. Allow at least 90 minutes for your visit. There are certain parts which are closed except for devotees. Be respectful of other people's beliefs and culture. However they allow photographs and video cameras.
(47) Cool temple... Cool jungle... Nice management.... Easy parking.... Nice weather... Nice area... Nice people... Positive energy
(48) This temple is interesting since it is in a lake but depending in the time of day or season, it doesnt look like its photos. But still worths visiting.
(49) This is one of the most beautiful places that I have been to in Bali. Entrance fees is only 10k Rupiah. There are many authentic and antique-looking statues in the palace. If you like feeding, you can buy peanuts to feed the big fat fishes in the pool. I was lucky because when I went there the weather was good. The sky was not very cloudy and it was blue. It is definitely a nice place for photography. I would strongly recommend this place if you enjoy seeing temples in Bali.
(50) You've got two choices when deciding to come here. Either you escape the crowd and come here early in the morning/mid-afternoon (sacrificing the scenic sunset view) or blend in with the sweltering heat plus the sea of people so that you can snap a pic or two of the unforgettable sunset. Well... we decided that sunsets are the same everywhere by the last day of our trip and went ahead with the early part. Crowd wasn't that much, place was cooler and we had ample opportunity to take photos with the temple per se. Same thing definitely can't be said of the other alternative. \n\nView again was magnificent!
(51) We visited as part of a days sight seeing along the east coast of Bali. It is a beautiful garden with Chinese influenced Balinese architecture. The day we went they were holding a festival/competition and the place was packed with local groups in traditional costumes. This added to the experience and we had a wonderful time. We had planned to spend about an hour here but ended up staying much longer. The groups were very friendly and we have many many good photos with many of the groups.
(52) This is one of the several most beautiful temples in Bali.\nThe temple itself is average, but its location on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean makes the view particularly spectacular.\nWorth a visit!
(53) Beautiful temple sitting on a small island just a few feet away with beautiful scenic view. Pretty crowded especially at sunset so plan your visit just before sunset so you can roam there before sunset.
(54) Stunning views of the ocean and rocks. Colorful clothing of the Balinese people bringing their offerings to the temple. You should hire a guide who will make sure you are properly attired so you can make an offering and receive a blessing from the priest. Don't just be a tourist snapping pictures.
(55) You'll need to pay for car + x number of people to get in. It's about 1.5hr drive from Denpasar area.\n\nOn the month of March, it was rather rainy, so unfortunately I didn't get to see a beautiful sunset. Other than the sunset, Kecak dance performances are available for IDR 60k, maybe on various times each day; at that time it was after sunset time.\n\nThere's a temple with a snake on a cave, in which you pay a small fee, like IDR 5k to touch the snake. When I was in junior high this seemed like a super awesome thing, to be able to see a sacred snake, but now I just feel pity for the snake :') well it was said that touching the snake will give you blessings of some sort.\n\nAnd then there's a temple with holy water in which you get blessed by the priests. I didnt go in because I have makeup on, but my friend did, I think it's a fun cultural thing to experience, washing your face with the water, and then the priests will bless you with some sprays of water and flowers.\n\nThere are lots of souvenir shops in the parking lot but nothing too fancy. Somehow it was very hot and humid, but it's probably because of the proximity with the ocean.
(56) This was one of the recommended stops by our driver for our two days in Bali. The cliff views of the temple and from the temple were well worth the visit.
(57) The temple and the grounds are lovely and well worth the drive. I was fortunate enough to visit during a very quiet tourist period and in the morning. This meant I could enjoy the spiritual aspect of the temple without the hustle and bustle of tourists all jostling for the perfect photo opportunity. \n\nI had lunch at the restaurant which was surprisingly good and reasonably priced.
(58) one of the most beautiful sunsets in the island can be seen here. obviously it would be crowded. honestly everywhere is bali is crowed, so you cant escape that.\npick a spot to sit and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets of the island.\nthe temple does not allow non-balinese people, so you can just see it from outside.\nrest just go for the views
(59) We traveled for three hours to visit and it is a very pretty temple, not as big as it seems in the pictures and although all the gardens etc are very well kept I wouldnt say its worth the lengthy trip that we had to take to get there.
(60) So we reached the eagerly awaited site around mid afternoon. The entrance to the parking is a paid affair. Tickets were IDR 60k each per adult. There are a number of market stalls with reasonable prices selling everything from food to clothing. All well sign posted, spacious and clean. Then you reach the actual temple gates and this is where it gets disappointing. Not much to look at. Everything requires a donation e.g. to see the 'holy snake' you pay a donation and a man removes a rock from the sand and a poor abused looking snake tries to get out from an obviously man made hole. He quickly covers it up and tells you to get out! There weren't to many people there overall but quite a disappointing site to visit based on all the hype you read. Some nice views of the ocean but that's about it. Is it worth 60k per person- definitely not!
