[TOPIC] 2

(1) This place is alright but deffo not worth the 50,000 entry fee. I could have a posh meal in a restaurant here for that price. Considering all other temples are around 15,000 and in other countries temples are free... I wasnt so impressed. \n\nWe drove a long way from Ubud on the motorbike as well so take that into consideration when making the journey over there.
(2) After a number of previous trips to Bali, this was the first time that we had actually visited this temple. As with all countries there seems to be at least one spot that represents a 'bucket list' attraction. We were not interested in the sunset photo opportunity that seems to be the standard (not overly keen to be a sardine can tourist), so visited mid morning. Even so, there were hundreds of people there (and unhappily, bus loads of Chinese tourists that seem to descend on a place like a swarm of locusts). The temple itself was off limits, so there wasn't much to see. The highlight for us was the blessing provided by the monks (for a small donation) from the holy spring water that flowed from beneath the temple itself.\nUnusually - the line of market stalls, eateries and shops on the way in to the entry were all selling at a very reasonable price, and most of their goods were of a fairly good quality.
(3) Okay, so there is a mixed bag of reviews, here is my honest assessment: crappy temples, heaps of tourists and shops but a decent photo opportunity of a natural arch way into the sea at sunset.\n\nWe concluded our day trip with a visit here for the sunset via our car/driver. Total tourist trap, with WAY too many people, shops trying to sell you stuff and mediocre temples but I will say that the sunset arch photo opportunity was good.\n\nMy best advice if you want the arch photo would be to show up 15-30 minutes before sunset, stake out your bit of land to get a pic...snap your pic before the sun completely sets and run like hell to the parking lot cause once the sunsets it will be a mad rush to escape.\n\nWorth a visit only if you're in the area and have a weird thing for natural arch ways into the sea like I do...avoid it if you loathe tourist traps.
(4) When entering past the numerous tour buses I thought this was going to be packed and not able to truly enjoy the majestic site.\n\nThis feeling quickly passed, when arriving at low tide. Permitting us to get close, stroll around the small tidal pools, do some rock scrambling to capture some incredible photos. Yet most of all, lots of space for so many to enjoy the beauty.\n\nThe vendors and shops prior to entering are very nice. Prices are surprisingly affordable compared to other tourist locations. We enjoyed a drink from one of the vendor stalls, though didnt get any food. The people are also less pushy here than other places visited which makes for a more pleasant experience when visiting.\n\nAs an hour or two passed, a siren could be heard going off, with the announcement of the incoming tide and please be cautious. The announcement did not lie, during the short time we were there; the rocks from which we took those amazing pictures were no longer accessible. Furthermore, the crowds a bit more congested with less space to wander about, yet seemed no less enthused with their visit. \n\nWe even saw two different families making their long walk to the temple for am offering, reminding one to be respectful that not only is this temple beautiful, but more so a place still quite active and we are but guests.\n\nThis place is a must, to sit for a brief time, and imagine the building of such a temple, learn its history, and just be in bewilderment of the entire grounds from which it sits is spectacular.
(5) Like other reviews tell you, it is way to crowded with tourist. Try to get there before 10 or 11 in the morning and its pretty nice. The temple isn't what you're going for, well I didn't go there for the temple. The temple isn't that special but the view is amazing. Takes a while to get there but the view is worth it!
(6) This is considered one of the best places to see a sunset in Bali, which we did, but unfortunately it was a little bit cloudy. if I would recommend one place to see in Bali, it would be Tanah Lot, you can skip everything else. One thing to know is that you can not go inside the temple, so you pretty much take in the views and go around, but it's still beautiful.
(7) Nice views, nice clean place. Nothing super special i would say. 50.000IDR to get in. Just had a short walk inside the temple and left.
(8) Beautiful climb, view and experience. Hardly any tourists, hence no irritating vendors like at Mother Temple. However, you better be fit, as there are many stairs to the top. If like me, you have gained some weight over the years (but if you still have strong heart) you can still do it, but your legs will complain. Start early, soon after sunrise, as it will get extremely hot. Water is for sale along the way, there are benches for resting :-) Remember all the good upbringing, if you want to stay for a ceremony. Wear sturdy shoes! No flipflops/thongs, unless you are Balinese. Both genders: Remember long(!) sarongs, when entering the holy area.
(9) What a beautiful experience! After about a 10 minute walk in the heat we were unsure if this was going to be worth the walk. A ssoon as we reach the first landing for pictures I didnt regret it not one bit. From a very high ppint of a cliff you emerge onto a perfrct view of cliffs and deep oceans. The ocean was roaring and crashing. Truly powerful and beautiful. The downside to this was that to get to the temple you literally take what feels like a hike. We didnt make it to the temple because of the heat. They also dont let you take water bottles in once you pay at the entrance. Made no sense. Had we been able to drink water we wouldve definitely attempted the entire walk. Overall an awesome experience.
(10) Visit this place during sunset. Its an amazing view with sunset as the backdrop and the waves hitting the rocks. You have opportunities of capturing good photograph. It's too crowded during that time. Most of the temple is restricted and blocked going inside after certain distance.\nThe priests there are a little greedy. They will not give you the holy water until and unless you drop some money on the plate.\nSetting aside the priests behaviour, its a must visit place. If you plan to purchase some genuine purple rice, you have paddy fields around where you could buy some small quantity depending on how much is allowed in flights.
(11) Perfect scenery, easy track to walk considering my dad has arthritis, public toilets are easy to find, and there is a market outside temple area for visitors to get some drinks, foods, and souvenirs.
(12) Wonderful place! Although we were there during high tide, we enjoyed the beauty! We were unable to get to the temple itself, but still spent a lot of time walking there.
(13) We drove from Munduk to see this temple with literally thousands of positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Never have I been so let down and misguided by reviews. Yes, the little temple on the lake is nice to see but a quick glance and a few photo's in not worth the drive and the 50.000 entrance fee per person. If you're looking for a beautiful temple on Bali avoid this disappointment and only go here if you have some spare money and if you're in the neighborhood. If you go here with zero expectations it could be a nice visit. I had big expectations and I think that's the problem. Expect hundreds of tourists looking at a tiny temple. Yes, the nature surrounding this place is beautiful but the lake and the hills can also be seen from another place without an entrance fee.
(14) Wanted to see this temple because it was listed on the \top 5 temples to see in Bali\" but I was disappointed. It was a lot smaller than I was expecting (maybe because all the photos lack size points of reference because people aren't allowed to go onto the island). But, the gardens are pretty. DIDN'T like the animals available to take photos with, but that's separate to the temple experence. Nice temple to visit to pass the time but not worth it if you are staying in Munduk and need to travel 45 mins."
(15) Great view of the ocean and the temple, most beautiful sunset we ever had. Just awesome, will visit again for sure.
(16) I've come away from the temple feeling so empty. The opposite how I should feel from visiting a temple right?!\n\nVanity was in my face everywhere I looked. We all like nice pictures, (I'm a photographer myself and love an Instagram feed) but visiting this temple was extreme. It was a huge living photoshoot. A grotesque exhibition of narcissm. So very sad. \n\nWhat upset me the most, was so many people showed disrespect. You must wear a Sarong to cover your legs and a suitable top to cover you. For photos I saw girls flashing their thighs with their sarong! I saw girls posing with their strappy tops to reveal their backs, and some practically showing their boobs - all whilst posing for photos next to sacred statues in the site. Mind blowing. \n\nThere are signs everywhere about rules of respect, and what not to do, but the importance of 'that shot' seems to overrule it. \n\nThe temple and authorities need to control this... it's not right, and also very disappointing for visitors who make the trip because they're actually interested in the culture and history of the site. \n\nThe huge gate is lovely. There is no lake. As you'll already know, it's a mirror from the camera creating the effect. We arrived at 7.30am and we had 200+ people in a queue, a 2.5 hour wait. We didn't bother. \n\nIt was also interesting to see that out of the 200+ people queuing for a photo at the famous gate, we only counted 6 people actually walking to see the second temple.
(17) Please come and see wonderfull temple in Bali Paradise Island ,many others places you can visit and joint Us on #Siap_Bali_Oz_Tours
(18) Tourists attraction, not worth it. More expensive than other temples (75k Rps) and not really natural. Structures in park are too colorful..seems to me just like attraction for tourists. You dont have to wear sarong to the temple and it seems dishonesting to me.
(19) If you can get here just before sunset you can get some of the most amazing pics of your trip to Bali. If there are some good wave action even better. There are definitely tons of people who come to visit so getting a pic without people in it is hard but not impossible. If you are into temples this one is a must see.
(20) This is a very picturesque and tranquil spot. It was relaxing to walk around and see the water features, the statues and the ornamental fish. We had a push chair and it required a little lifting and some areas were a bit tricky, but overall it didn't impede on our enjoyment of the site. \n\nThere were quite a few other tourists here, but everyone seemed to be quite quiet and respectful. No bus loads of tourists that I could see. \n\nRecommended if you like taking photos and seeing some Balinese history.
(21) This temple situated on the lake is an absolutely beautiful setting. The views were lovely even though it rained while we there.
(22) This temple is breathtaking and it is one of our most treasured memories from Bali. We visited numerous temples in Bali and this was hands down the best we ever visit
(23) Lovely views. Sea is gorgeous and so is the temple. Worth a visit - lots of picture moments too. Such a beautiful country with lovely architecture around.
(24) The temple is located right next to the ocean and provides an amazing view at sunset. Did not go inside the temple.
(25) It has a great view of Sunset if Weather is good. Bit crowded like other popular place. Easy access unlike other Temple in Bali. We could Experience Glimpse of Sunset as weather was cloudy. Still one of Better place to visit in Bali.
(26) This is the landmark location of Bali, and it shall be included in your must visit location. Awesome views of sea , temple everything. Generally in Bali all temples inside entry is not accessible, but here they permitted us by charging 50000 idr without giving receipt. It is advisable this location between 4 to 6 Pm.
(27) We had an early dinner up above overlooking the temple and that was amazing.. One of the best views I've ever had at dinner. Go further down for the best views, you need to pass several eating places to get to the ones with the good views!
(28) Sunset is at low tide so the temple doesn't look like it's floating. As such, it's not much more special than any other beach sunset.\n\nHowever, everyone has heard of it and so it's completely packed with people. The night before this we had beer and fresh fish on the beach and it was a much nicer experience.
(29) it is located on top of the hill and the view is amazing. I can tell to everyone that \visit the temple before sunset.\""
(30) The temple experience as such was ok, but it was cool to walk along the path to take the picture of the view. This felt like one of the places, glorified by Instagram, but not very good in reality. I visited it because it was one of the most scared Bali temples. Visit it only for the view, not for the experience.
(31) One of the most beautiful temples in Bali. Just don't forget to chech the tides. When the sea water is high you can't get to the holy spring. Otherwise very old and strong place! And incredibly beautiful.
(32) I personally really liked this place because of the great photos I was able to take just before sunset. However the place is a zoo and you have to time your trip well to avoid the brutal traffic leaving. Because of the crowds you will line up endlessly for the caves, and you need to keep your children close. Great photos can be taken from the far side of the beach where few tourists venture. You will be able to capture the small water canals in front of the temple. I recommend staying no more than an hour.
(33) This temple is located on a huge lake. The view from here is just fantastic. We drove for about 2.5 hrs from Nusa Dua to reach here but every minute was worth. There is an entry charge of approx.4 USD per person.
(34) This is a Hindu temple in between of a lake. It offers ample photo opportunity. It comprises of a large area with lake, lush green grounds, children playing area and finely decorated with colorful flowers. The lake provides boating service. We did a speed boat ride which was thoroughly enjoyed not only by our kids but by us too. One should not miss this place if at Bali.
(35) Must see while in Bali! The temple in the water is beautiful. The sunsets can be amazing, although it does get pretty crowded with tourists. Lots of shop stalls as well to buy your Bali souvenirs. Definitely make sure your taxi or car waits for you and can take you back to your hotel. Very few taxis available in that area.
(36) It is a nice temple with nice scenery. it was crowded. In my opinion it is not a must-see place to go. just average
(37) The temple on the lake is nice, but in general I didn't find the entrance fee nor the drive out worth it. There are nicer temples elsewhere.
(38) It's a very nice temple located at the shore/ part of it in the water.\nThe temple is surrounded by a lot of myths. But the view from the temple has definitely something mysterious about it. The sunset is magical and the water around is very aggressive.\nIt is very crowded during the sunset but that is also the best time to visit. You will not be able to get inside the temple in the evening, but I think it's still worth it.
(39) This beautiful temple is located on the shores of Danu Bratan (Bratan Lake). The climate is a bit cooler, so you may want to bring a light sweater or extra long sleeve in case. \nLike most attractions in Bali, it is a good idea to arrive early in the morning to avoid large crowds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. When we visited the locals were having a special celebration and large crowds of people were arriving with their offerings to the Gods while we were hearing Gamelan music. It was a very beautiful experience. We combined visiting this temple and going to Jatiluwih, about half hour away, and it worked really well for my family.
(40) The best temple we visited in Bali (and we visited lots of temples in Bali) The temple was closed for the visitors but the garden is very pretty. Weather in the temple area was foggy and cloudy which made it look like a dreamland. \nA must visit place in Bali
(41) After a while, temples here in Bali all look the same to a large degree. The lake was nice, but if one has been to Canada, this lake is not very interesting except that it is cooler temps around this area.
(42) We reached the temple around 10:00 am. When the water going up. So we not allowed to enter the temple which located on the rock. However , we can take photoelectric for the scenery of the temple and surround views and very enjoy with the wave from the sea .
(43) I was little surprised from this area because everywhere you go on Temple you are expecting to see some monumental building in the middle of area...but is the temple the area and just like temple everybody looks from area ouside on ocean. Beautiful view on it, vawy side....
(44) This temple has that post card look. It really is beautiful. Unfortunately it is a tourist hot spot at Sunset so it is very crowded. Still definitely worth seeing.
(45) It was an amazing place to visit and I would tell any of my friends that are visiting Bali to go see this temple
(46) Worth a visit if in Bali to experience local culture. Unsure why SpongeBob sign in a holy place, but it is. Nice for pictures but very busy
(47) nothing to see but sunset views. cant access to the temple because they dont allow other religions. the activity is just walk walk and walk, that's it.
(48) Suuch a beauty temple. Will be crowded if you come during ceremony season. For sunset shooter this is the great place to get a decent photo.
(49) We arrived when the tide was coming in you could not get out there fully! We went here in the afternoon, which I would recommend going in the morning to beat the crowds. . A quiet walk back to the many scenic hilltop cafes where you could watch the tide roll in around the temple
(50) This place was really busy, which is understandable as it is the most important temple in Bali. \n\nAs well as the temple they have really nice gardens that offer shade from the sun and a place to sit. \n\nThere are plenty of souvenir shops and some place to get drinks.
(51) It is a great Temple to see. Go a few hours before sunset. Totally swamped with Tourists like ants! But what can you do? It's still a great sunset photo. Lots of shopping stalls too.
(52) One very kool place with a stunning view, walking around with monkeys that are devilish in a cute way lol, learning amazing history of balinese culture around the temple, watching a tridtional balinese dance of good and evil, being able to watch a sunset on the ocean, and then to venture to our next destination to dine on a beach.. an amazing tour and a must for all..
(53) My friend took me there one evening. When we got to the place, at first I thought, \Why are there so many people? What are they doing?\" I thought it was just an old Balinese temple. But when we walked to the cliff, and there.......... It was great and spetacular and it took my breath away. Suddenly, I understood why there were so many people there. Because once you looked at the temple and its surrounding, you could not just take your eyes off it and you would not want to get away so soon. You would want to just sit there and took in its beauty. All in all, it is a must-place if you go to Bali."
(54) I was lucky to be there on a day when it was not very crowded. I went with my guide from The Authentic Bali (Arjana) and we enjoyed it so much. The weather was grey and a bit foggy but that just made the temple look more dramatic. I loved it.
(55) Beautiful temple locate in an exotic location with lovely water around the place. the access can be restricted at times due to water levels but is amust to see
(56) Went here with my partner this evening to watch the sunset and it sure did not disappoint.\nBefore getting to the temple, there is a little market with lots of stalls and shopping to do, various warungs etc.\nWhen you get to the temple itself, it truly is stunning and one of the best sunsets.\n\nThe place can be a little crowded, but it is well and truly worth a visit as a last stop on your tour
(57) This is located quite far from city center, one has to join a tour\nTo see this temple on the lakeshore\n\nOne has to negotiate the winding road by car or by bus to go up the mountain\n\nOn our way up,there are local coffee house which serves Local Baturiti coffee.....which is not for everybody as the coffee beans are fed through the intestines of Luwak\n\nThe coffee shop is located by the hill side overlooking the rice paddies which is very serene\n\nThe coffee is prepared in front of you by distillation into a cup\n\nIt is very tasty with good after taste....not for everybody if you consider the source!!!\n\nThe temple by the lakeshore is quite picturesque\n\nLots of Merry go round for children to play with\n\nGood place for families outings,as there are boat rides etc\n\nIt could be windy and temp is just right to stay away from the humidity, plus the cloudy skies which makes photography somewhat non ideal\n\nWe were fortunate enough to walk on the shoreline as the water level is low(considering Dec is rainy season)\n\nOverall you can spend your afternoon here, there are lots of t shirt shops outside the temple, and there are lots of restaurants by the lake, some of them even offer buffet
(58) I can only say Go Early! This is a beautiful place. Once you get past all the stalls of merchandise and souvenirs ! The views are outstanding of the crumbling lime stone cliffs and the temple. But the crowds!!!
(59) When you visit Baturiti, this temple is a must visit. Better when they have their service going. We came in the morning when the water was low, thus nothing like other picture which might be more beautiful when the water is high. But still worth a visit to take pictures or pray...
(60) Beautiful temple with lots of history around it, you need a guide to make it come to life so worth investing in this. I went early morning so less tourists and could see the locals going in with offerings and holding a ceremony which was a better and more authentic experience. You can pay a donation to be anointed but I personally felt it intrusive (although they did offer) when there was clearly a big ceremony going on, its still a place of worship and its something I might only have considered outside of worship times. There are some great views of the coast line and you can walk quite far in low tide.
