(1) This temple is an interesting place to visit. It seems te be a touristic, commercial place rather than a sacred temple. The best time to visit is early in the morning I assume. the rest of the day over crowded.
(2) Very idyllic and pristine spot with the temple virtually in the sea .\nOnly sore spot is that you are not allowed inside the temples and you can savor the spring water under the base of temple which is quite amazing considering it being in the sea virtually .\nThe best time to visit is in the morning when the crowd is less and can buy some local stuff .
(3) No es el templo más grande ni el más bonito, pero el entorno en el que se encuentra lo hace especial. Situado en un lago junto a los volcanes lo hace diferente a los demás templos.\n\nNot the biggest, neither the nicest temple, but the environment where it is placed makes it special. In the shore of a lake next to volcanos turn this temple different.
(4) Went with the ball and chain to watch the sunset, amazing views although not as serene as one would wish due to the amount of people (but hey, we are tourists too)\n\nThe temple is beautiful, in an amazing location. Fully recommend.
(5) This is one of the most important landmarks in Bali. This Hindu temple is located atop a huge rock. The waves keep lashing the rocks. The sea is beautiful. Most people go here to see the sunrise or sunset . Hence very crowded at that time.On the way u can find many shops selling arifacts, clothes n food. Its lovely to stand or sit on the rocks n enjoy the beauty of the sea with the white froth.one can spend long hours watching the sea.
(6) We recently hired a driver to to us from our hotel in Sukawati south to the temple. It had come recommended from a friend who said it was her favorite thing in Bali. It takes about an hour to get there and the traffic is pretty nightmarish but its worth the trip. Very cool place. They say the best time to go is sunset but we went around 3 and it was pretty crowded. Our driver said it is even more crowded at sunset. So If you don't like crowds mid-afternoon is good. You must wear your own or rent a sarong - men and women. The sarong rental is a donation to preserving the temple - so even though I had my own I rented one anyway. The temple it self isn't spectacular but the views are magnificent. Great photo opportunities. Definitely not to miss.
(7) An amazing place, must see if u r in Bali , breathtaking view , should not miss, the temple itself is not much but the surrounding is a waw
(8) The view from the temple is beautiful. You can sit for hours, do nothing and enjoy the sunset. Since you are not allowed into main temple premises, there is nothing much to see other than this. If you are in a hurry, you can give this a skip.
(9) Just visited a couple of days ago. While the place is beautiful the amount of people trying to get to the Temple is a drawback. I know it's hard to control visitors as we all want to see the beauty of Bali but the government should control parking and the amount of visitors they can get in at a certain time. Experience would've been a lot more rewarding. Parking was a hassle and getting out of parking lot it was too.
(10) Located in the West. Can do morning or evening visits. A sacred temple on a huge rock in the sea. No access to this temple but on sacred days one can get access. the views are breathtaking with rocks that eroded to form cave like structures. Was told that its one of two the large temples. two priests are in the temple area on the ground. One has to walk through the water to get to them. Beautiful natural architecture
(11) Great place to visit in Bali..one of the best sea temples.View is superb during tide.when the tide is low,the beach is accessible. The arched pattern of nearby cliffs gives a great photo opportunity for photographers. One of the best place to enjoy sunset in Bali.Foreigners are not allowed inside the main temple. Many souvenir shops and restaurants are in the vicinity.
(12) This place is beautiful. The only problem is that is very crowded and too sad to see trash everywhere. A lot of stores around the temple trying to rip off tourists.
(13) We arrived to discover a festival in progress. It was wonderful to watch the temple in use rather than an empty building. \nExperiencing the culture is a highlight of any trip.
(14) We went with a driver, you have to pay the entrance fee and the park.\nLot's of turists, but it's good to visit because of the location at the lake and near the mountain/vulcano. The surronding environment it's mystic although i didn't like the \statues\" of colored animais in the garden around \"for turists to play\" since they aren´t alowed to enter the temple itself."
(15) Visited this temple from Sanur, had to pay a small entrance fee and wear a sarong but a small price to pay for the experience of visiting what is surely one of the best located temples in the world. Definitely worth a visit when in Bali.
(16) From the moment you atep to the cliffside, you witness a magnificent scene. From your right hand is the rock with a small temple in the edge of it and from below a big hollow on the rock. In the midle is the beach. ON your left side is the temple almost lying in the sea. \nPerfect to visit close to sunset from 1630 hrs to 1600hrs. When the tide is down you can actually walk to the temple and take photos very close to it.\nAfter your walk you can sit in one of many stores and enjoy the beautifull sunset.
(17) I was surprised with the size of the temple and the amount of small building and statues. I honestly thought it would be just a temple on the top of a cliff but it is more than that. Recommend a visit.
(18) One of old temple on the the cliff with a such beautiful sunset and worth to visit when your holiday in Bali
(19) The road to the temple relatively hard to pass. but the view along the road is nice and awesome.\n\nLocals is so friendly and informative.
(20) Probably visually the best temple in Bali and also perhaps the most touristy. Costs 30000 per person and 5000 for car parking.\nWhile the temple itself is the highlight being in a little island off the mainland that you can walk across the bay in low tide, the gardens are quite nice and the wander along the cliff is quite picturesque.\nThere are some caves such as the snake temple which you need to pay extra to go into but we didn't, so cant comment on them.\nUnfortunately you do need to walk through the mutitude of shops selling all things from tourist tat to fresh food to get back to your car.\nSunset is probably the best time to go although this is also the worst time for crowds.\nWe arrived an hour or so before sunset and left just before since we had lovely pictures durign our leisurely stroll and it was getting too crowded.\nDefinitely one to go to but would plan so that you leave before the crowds get ridiculous.
(21) Going to this temple was an amazing find. We have never seen anything like it. After going through the market area tourists find an incredible view of this temple sitting in the ocean!
(22) We went almost at 13:00. The temple and the lake was beautiful but there are so many tourists to take a photo that the place loose it's magic. Try hours without so many people. There are boats to see the lake if you want.
(23) Own by Balinese and it is nice to visit Bali which is own manage professional by local
(24) A lot of tourists visit this point. It has a nice walk, temple itself isnt very overwhelming. The best part is the high mountain and the beach down several hundred feet. Watching sunset by the mountain edge is recommended
(25) Nice place to take picture. But it's not allow to see the temple. Better to go in the early morning when there is no crowd.
(26) With a high expectation in mind, we arrived at the temple having to pay for parking (we were on a bike so it's 1000idr) and 30,000 idr each as an entrance fee which was fine. The place was packed with tourists and we weren't really sure what we were looking at. You can't see the temple as they wont let you near it and it looks so tiny from the view pointless. We visited for sunset arrived at 4:30pm and waited for possibly the word sunset we have ever seen which didn't help!
(27) There are not many tourist when we visit this place so we can easily take picture in the best spot. Dont expect to see many things because this is a temple not a place made solely for sightseeing. The entrance ticket is quite cheap for domestic tourist (adult 10k and childre 7,5k). It's a place worth visiting because it's cheap and beautiful.
(28) Temple was not remarkable but you will be glad to get up the steps and see the magnificent view from cliff, and wonder at Mother Nature. Better to come during sunset time.
(29) You will go there in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset. The tide is low at that time (reflux), so you could go around the temple to take some photos with your lover. Bring a nice sarong with you and cover your legs. Not only You will look better integrated into the local culture and environment, but you will prove your respect for the wholly place you are visiting. If You are ready to pay extra, you could enter a small cave on the beach to see a holy snake, Climb up and take a seat at the restaurant facing the temple, grab a Bintang and wait for the sunset.
(30) You cannot enter the temples and it is a really long drive. In our case all the way from Nusa Dua which is a good 1.5 hrs in traffic. The gardens are beautiful with gorgeous sea side views, however I feel that you are making a trip to see the temple which you see very little of. Personally I wouldve used my time differently had I known you couldnt see the temple and stuck to Uluwatu which has more to see and is more centrally located.
(31) In the northern part of Bali lies this amazing structure.- it was well worth the trip if you like looking at Temples! This one on a little island on Lake Bratan. The beautiful tiered straw layered roof is impressive to see against the skyline. You can take boat trips around the island and to see the temple from a different perspective (we didnt do this) but it was great watching people, in colourful bright attire bringing their offerings to the temple. Great restaurant on site where we had a buffet lunch and also a little play area for the children.
(32) This was a very nice place to watch a sunset and see some great Balinese culture, history and nature. You want to time your trip for sunset and enjoy the view. take lots of pics and makes sure to walk all through the temple and surrounding area.
(33) The view of the ocean and the sunset from the temple was the best scenary i have ever seen in my life. Nature at its best. Visit and enjoy!!! \nNote: Beware of monkeys!!!!!
(34) I just love this place. The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is so peaceful. There are so many people visiting this temple from all around the world. The only complaint I have is that the blessing isn't the same as I have experienced on other visits as it is now commercialised. There are great restaurants along the cliff edge and watching the sun go down over the temple is amazing. The markets are also there is you want to buy.
(35) One of the best Bali Temple, one of the most picturesque I have ever seen. Situated nearby the cost of the lake Beratan, took us about 90min from Ubud, this place is a must to seen in Bali. Three stupas of medium to small size, the tallest devoted to Brahma, the lowest to Shiva and the other to Vishnu. The nearby garden is a joy to walk around, the restaurants serve delicious local plates at good prices. The only negative is - what else- the hordes of visitors trying to take selfies.....
(36) This temple is on the top of a mountain. When you go there, you will see the beautiful Indian Ocean from the top. Looking Ocean from this top is really magnificent. The temple is clean & now some part of them under construction. Food is overpriced on the outside of temple.
(37) I personally would recommend people to visit this temple cause it offers a small boat experience to enjoy the view of the temple, lake & hill at the same time. The best thing is the small boat is moved by cycling on pedals for couple or rowing for more people. It's also better to check the weather prior to your visit since it's located on hill & it's often foggy. When the fog comes, you'l certainly miss the beauty of the overall scenery.\nThe last thing, dress properly by wearing something like knee-length or jeans cause they might ask u to cover it up since you'll go to sacred place. Also, dont miss the folktale about how this lake is created on the carved wall.
(38) This is one of the most famous sites in Bali, always seems to be in the travel pamphlets and sites advertising Bali, it was probably the most touristy place we went in our whole trip and we got a little frustrated when trying to take photos near the main Temple, so if you can do some meditation to calm yourself before coming to this site it will help your nerves (hehe) \n\nThe Temple situated in Lake Bratan was built in 1663 and is used for offerings to the water, lake and river Goddess Dewi Danu, the history is very interesting!\n\nThere are touristy shops on the outside near the exit, they are very expensive and the rudest out of all the shop owners we came across, guess they just see so many tourists \n\nBest way to get here is to hire a driver from your hotel for the day and ask him to take you here :) do it... its worth it!
(39) A must visit place in Bali and the sunset view is the best from the place. A temple in kind of middle of the sea is worth watching. Simply amazing!!!
(40) This is an active temple, so many locals and tourists come here so it can be very crowded. This is the best temple to visit with kids.
(41) During our recent visit to Bali one day we went to this temple to see the same and offer our gratitude. The temple is very good and must see for tourists
(42) Buzzing with tourists, this is a nice place to visit at sunset. Heavy waves lash the shores and surfers have a great time during the tides. The access to the temple could be restricted during the high tide. Picturesque and beautiful.
(43) A centuries old temple perched on a cliff... With Indian Ocean on the side... Well maintained property... You have to wear a cloth (available free at the entrance) to visit the temple... It's a holy place and we have to maintain the decency there...
(44) tWe rode motor bikes out to the temple, would not recommend that as the traffic is mad. But the Temple complex is great. Not too many hawkers, but enough to remind you your in Asia. typically the best views are where the restaurants are. Nit cheap by Bali standards either. Tide was out so we walk across not much to see. The other temples provide a good view also. Pretty spectacular view under sunset conditions.
(45) Firstly, do not go there for sunset, the place is totally crowded. Secondly, the temple itself can only be visited by Hindus, so if you are not Hindu you can only see from outside.
(46) This is where I visit when my personal batteries need to be recharged, my spirit cleansed and my gratitude for beauty in Bali - stimulated. Here is stands - available to all and sundry.\nIf you are fortunate to visit on a Holy Day for a particular Balinese village - you will see a spectacular procession of colour, feel the warmth & dedication of the people as they unite\nto celebrate something special in the Balinese Hindu religion. They will talk to you and explain the intricacies of their\ndecorations and effergies. Carrying large symbolic offerings on\ntheir heads is something very special to view. The Temple and\nLake will embrace your spirit - no matter what your religion. They welcome you to worship, admire, enjoy - and always remember sharing special moments in time with them. There is\na choice of cafes and a market place to relax & ponder. The entrance fee is reasonable and level of hygiene is very good. You will not be in a rush to leave this magnificent, natural wonder of Bali, set amongst beautiful, well maintained gardens.\nThis is a real tonic for the tired traveller. Don't miss this one!
(47) Went here with family. Reminded me a bit of views from great ocean road in Victoria with a temple on top. Was nice. Our driver got us a nice close park
(48) This is a truly special place for us as my future son in law proposed to my daughter here. They were on a ledge with fantastic views and the temple overlooking them. They have travelled the world extensively but Bali is very special to them and seemed apt for this important event.
(49) Nice photo opportunities, there is an entry ticket to the temple which was very nominal ( can't remember the exact price but was less than$10). Parking is limited,I suggest to park in the parking lot near the ticket gates and walk from there, it's not too far from that place. Lots of street food.
(50) Visited this place twice with 2 different feeling!\nLast time I visited there was a ceremony, watching Balinese people in their traditional costume performing the ritual was a plus to my latest trip to Bali!\nAnd yes, I'll visit Bali again very soon. :)
(51) There are not words to describe it. Nature at its best and on top of everything the temple. Must see
(52) We were taken here by a local guide and driver who recommended an early visit as it gets very crowded after lunch. A beautiful setting and our guide explained the significance of all the buildings. It is the iconic temple.
(53) Please be mindful when visiting this temple to be appropriately dressed , there are sarongs near the ticket desk but they are not washed after each use so best to bring your own. Don't forget to bring water \nBeautiful grounds though gets quite crowded
(54) Whilst on a car tour of the local area we stopped here. The line was so long to take a photo and stand at the temple gates. Beautiful view though and worth the wait.
(55) Entrance fee costs IDR30,000 for adults. The temple is a short walk from the parking area as you will pass by several souvenir shops and eateries. You can walk across to the temple at low tide.
(56) We went to temple for the sunset view. It was unfortunate that it was a cloudy day. But thats nature you cant challenge but what was disappointing and sad was the fraud in a religious place. There was a line for Holy water. We stood in the line: after that there were 2 so called priest who were waiting to give a flower and put tika. But they forcefully expected us to put money. When we refused they just pushed us aside and didnt give the flower or the tika. Then whenever we walked ahead to climb the steps we were stopped and not allowed to go up since we had not paid near the holy water. The 2 men who claimed they were priest looked more like rogues dominating. The people who were allowed went up only a few steps to see that the gates were closed and no entry- people with the hope to see the view from the temple paid to those priest but these guys didnt even mention that anyway there is no entry. Total farce in the name of religion and fooling tourist \nI am attaching photos showing those people who were collecting money and those stopping people from entering till they pay.
(57) There is a wonderful temple which has beautiful views. It's well worth the vist. There is also so little markets if interested in a little shopping.
(58) Its a nice place and well maintained. You need to cross the sea by foot to reach the main temple ( Tourists are not allowed inside the temple upstairs). Upon reaching the temple, priests usually offer flowers and blessings and you are expected to give small donation to the priests in return. However you can also refuse the blessings and flowers. we went in the morning, I suppose its more beautiful during sun set.
(59) While the sunset was beautiful and the waves crashing on the rocks is right beneath you. You can't actually visit the temple tourists are not allowed in. So that was a minus for me. But if you want to just view the sunset than definitely worth a go. You are actually facing the see so the waves crash right on you if you stand on the edge.
(60) Came here in the afternoon only to get the sunset and see a glimpse of the blue water on the beach. There was a ceremony going on, so we could not check out the temple while being there.
