(1) The temple is in the middle of a big lake.It is a beautiful place to visit. The surrounding lake offers some very scenic views. There is provision for boating for those who wish to spend some time.Time spent there is definitely time well spent.
(2) This one the best place that we visited in Bali on that time .... the air very cool and nice, the view of temple very nice and also u can ride a boat there ...
(3) Nice place where you can see Balinese culture with a nice view on the ocean you can have nice pics there for memories
(4) We went to this temple on the way back from the Colek Pamor waterfall. This is one of the most gorgeous temples we saw in Bali. The architecture is magnificent. The background is majestic. The water in the lake, the temples reflecting in the water, the clouds in the background all make this a beautiful peaceful experience.
(5) We stayed at the resort which was well worth it as you can easy see the temple at dawn and dust. The crowds that arrive for the viewing is pretty full on so I recommend stay at the resort.
(6) This temple is worth a visit. Its situated on a cliff with a decent view. Though they won't allow you inside the complex if you are not dressed in traditional Bali attire. Worth a visit - overall a good place.
(7) The entrance fee is 50,000 IDR. The place is well maintained and there is a 2000 donation to use the toilet (facilities not the greatest). \n\nThe lake is absolutely stunning especially on a warm day like when I went.\n\nThere are quite a few visitors around but like anywhere this is to be expected and I did not find that it was too crowded that I could not enjoy the views. \n\nI would definitely recommend visiting here. \n\nIt has a little park area for children and also restaurants. We did not eat here but instead went to a buffet restaurant down the street which was very good but everyone else at the temple also appeared to arrive at the same time.\n\nThere are also some animals with which you can have your picture taken for a small fee of 30,000 IDR. \n\nI would recommend going here especially on a clear day as the view was beautiful.
(8) Nice temple, view wasn't a great as some others at first as the temple is behind some trees but if you walk round to the left and along the beach (tide dependant) you can see loads better!!! nice to walk through, some good wooden stalls but be prepared to haggle!!
(9) temple near the lake. Clean and Cool. Beautiful lake scenery... Mosque on the hill opposite the pura..
(10) You go through the scenic and winding roads at the side of the mountain to see this temple. It was only 1hr journey from Ubud. Best to visit before noon as the sun is still not covered by clouds and you can see the mountains at the other side of the lake. This is if you visit during the still fairly rainy month of March.
(11) This iconic temple gained its popularity due to its instagramable pose. Dont go to this place during Melasti week (a week before Nyepi - Day of Silence) as it is full packed with thousands or worshippers that will put you in a longer time of waiting for the photographer to take your picture. You will discover how they make that instagramable picture.
(12) We had heard a lot of the beautiful grounds of the temple. Something to note is it can be done rather quickly, so either drag your feet and really take it all in, or have another activity planned shortly after.\nIn our case, it rained as we reached the far end, so it made for a swift return. Lol
(13) Breathtaking scenery and awesome views, traditional temple and during entrance they provide traditional clothes to use due to the custom of the holy site. Full greenish area with a cliff and an ancient temple view. This place nice to enjoy sunset. The place is magic, full of tradition, arts and architecture, there is a show in love where people sing and dance. \n\nDespite that, the view is the best, it haves you calm and an inner peace. The entrance fee is not too expensive and the most important advice is don't show or carry any food items, as monkeys will grab and bather you. Total time spending around 3 hours.
(14) Do In conjunction with Ujung water palace nearby ....beautiful temple in magnificent surroundings.can see volcano in distance
(15) Be prepared for a nice walk, with quite a few steps involved.\nWhen you get to the top however, the view is breathtaking. The cliffs and beaches below are something to behold.\n\nBeware of the monkeys, they will literally take anything they can get their hands on. Sunnies, hats, etc should be held.\n\nThe temple itself is a little underwhelming, as you can't access inside it (locked outside of religious ceremonies). The architecture, although nice, is nothing compared to the surrounding areas (which you walk through).\n\nShops, toilets, etc provided for a require drink break following your tour. Be prepared to tip a tour guide if one tags along. Ours was a little forthcoming requesting a greater tip than what was presented !\n\nOverall a good spot to explore for a couple of hours - although you will lose a fair amount of weight in sweat !
(16) Very good place to visit with the family for good sunset view! There are lot of shops on the way to the temple. Bargaining has to be done for shopping as they quote quite high prices. The temple is actually closed. They will ask you to have a dip in the holy water before entering the temple which is just a trick to make money. The actual temple remains closed and none of the visitors are allowed inside. The view is breathtaking .
(17) Such a lovely temple. There are stalls there selling clothes wood etc. We got great photos with a rather large python
(18) What a temple and what a view. the temple situated at the top and sunset was amazing . it is one of the best spot to see in bali. must visit
(19) This was a long drive from our resort in the south of Bali but well worth the time. Set in beautifully kept botanic gardens on the shores of a lake, this is a big temple. Our guide from Baliku tours told me the charming story/legend of how the lake was created when the priest planted a stick on the shore; when the farmers need water during drought apparently this is where they come to pray. Nice buffet restaurant with reasonable choice of dishes for a set price, including tea or a cold drink. We visited in off-peak season and the site was very busy: I think crowds could be a real problem during peak holiday periods.
(20) You have to wait for the sea to go down to access the place \n\nUnfortunately you can not enter the temple. Well maybe some lucky tourists had the lucky opportunity before, but today not. \nYou can hold a snake around for 50k rupiah. Cheap and good warung around.\n\nThe temperature of the sea is heavenly perfect\n\nNice views for nice pictures
(21) The view of this beautiful temple on top of a cliff overlooking the huge waves is absolutely amazing! This temple absolutely blew me away as the blue skies meet the deep blue of the sea in a scenic view! \nA must stop for anyone visiting Bali!
(22) A nice place to see, more so the trip to and from invites to more sightseeing. One should go when the full moon celebration is on. Don't fall for the busy sellers. Tourism has had, unfortunately, a negative influence. Yet, the Gods of Bali are still to be found.
(23) If you are in the area you may as well have a look but I would not suggest going out of your way to get here. The temple looks nice in the lake but you see it from the outside only. The park has some nice flowers in the garden but there are tacky cartoon animals around and manmade props which take away from any natural beauty. Fortunately it was close to closing when we arrived so all of the food and drink stands were closed and there were no crowds so we got to walk around without a lot of noise and people every which way. We would have been very disappointed if it was as crowded as other reviewers said it was. In any case, we only stayed about 20 minutes because that was about all the time we felt we needed to see whatever there was to see.
(24) A must must visit. You will absolutely Love it.\nThe view and the area is scenic and peaceful and you will have a lot of amazing photos. \nMy favorite part is when we walked across at low tide to get to the main temple where you can find monks at the bottom of the temple where You can drink some water and do some rituals with the monks. Tourists are not allowed to go up to the temple itself.\nOn your way out you will find many shops till you get to the exit
(25) Not bad to spend some time going to the temple. It's not the most interesting and fantastic place ever but it does have some beautiful views and you can take some amazing photos. I would recommend it if you're in the area but otherwise it might be a bit over rated..
(26) Best scenic place with temple and lake. Good photographic place. your not allowed inside the temple for worship. More tourist places only. you will see more mist on top of lake which is very scenic view.
(27) The gardens are a great place for walking and the sea view is also nice, but the fact they never let you enter the temple is disappointing. Too much commercialization around.
(28) Beautiful temple. A must see. We drove from Ubud to this temple. It was well worth the drive. A must see.
(29) Beautiful scenery of the temple based on a huge rock and the view from different angles are awesome. Well known to see the sunset view of this temple and the sea and rock in the background. Worth seeing this view at any time!
(30) there was 4 days for Hindu praying occasion, we went there at noon, mostly people go there n sunset and it crowded usually. but we went there at noon, wave was high, we not able to across to the Pura. but i really enjoying the ambiece... peacefully with the gamelan Bali sound everywhere. My driver told me that on evening it will be dancing ceremonial after praying. but we didnt wait for that. over all... you have to go to this place..
(31) Was just there two days ago. Had a personal guide. There are several Temples and this is just one of the special ones. Go at sunset as the temple is on the cliffs and the views are fantastic. Tana lot is another good temple to visit.
(32) peaceful dont get hasseled every time you go for a walk , love the hindu people, no agro everyone happy , nice and clean , food yummy and good coffee at the luhtu
(33) Ive seen pictures of this temple and it was stunning. Was a bit disappointed when i got there as it looked so run down. I wont deny that it was a nice sight, but i feel it was deserted and empty and that made it look kind of sad. Its probably better at festival times
(34) Entrance to the site is 60,000 IDR (less than 5 USD). This place MUST be seen for sunset! It is definitely a romantic place so if you happen to be traveling with your partner, definitely take time to go watch the sunset. The temple itself is pretty vast so I recommend you get there a bit early to walk the site and make sure you find the best spot to watch the sun go down. If you venture at the bottom of the temple perched on the rocky mount, wear adequate footwear, its a bit muddy & slippery due to the tide. The place gets packed, so the minute the sun is down, head back out because the longer you wait, the worst the traffic jam gets on way back out.
(35) this is one of the very nice place in Bali, but if you wanna go here pleace check the sea 1st, cos if the sea in high, you cant cross to the temple and better go here in very low season holiday....
(36) This place is perfect for the sunset. Lots of crabs out there in the sea, watch out. The temple is good.
(37) Beautiful place to visit. There are shops near by temple and you can explore and bargain. Sea can be rough while the sun is about to set. Reach around 4 p.m. to enjoy the sunset view.
(38) We went across to the temple but didn't go in. Just go there though for the view and the surroundings, amazing and so beautiful. If the water is out far enough then you can walk further down to the next rock where you can take some beautiful pictures. We went early in the day and then had a late lunch and stayed for sunset. Sunset is beautiful but it naturally gets busy with tourists
(39) One of the most beautiful places in Bali. Although people usually visit the place in the evening to watch the sunset, i could spend the whole day just sitting on the beach.\nSince the temple is almost inside the ocean, its not possible to visit the temple when the tide is high. There is a seperate rock where they say the snakes are there which protect the main temple. \n\nThe temple is dedicated to Varun, the god of water. There is a fresh water spring right inside the temple in the middle of the salty ocean which is considered holy.\n\nThe sunset is the one of most beautiful you would see
(40) Beautiful place to visit. Temple situated on the edge of rocks seaside. Have a big shopping area as well where one can utilise his bargaining skills.
(41) Very nice temple to visit with lovely gardens. Can get busy especially in regard to parking but worth it. Very scenic. Small entrance fee, but much larger than we expected.
(42) Extremely boring! Temple is closed, so nothing to see, except for some really nice views from cliffs. We took a cab to reach there, but were really disappointed seeing what it was there. Take a walk around the place, monkeys and that's it. Monkeys!!! so avoid taking shiny objects, sun glasses etc. They make a big deal about the dance show, which starts at 5pm but honestly it is big bummer.Boring! This place becomes super crowded with 1000s of people, competing to take pictures from the view points. Honestly pictures I saw online are so deceiving, comapared to what it actually is.I wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible.I would recommend you to use your money wisely. Go spend it on yourself, eat in nice restaurant and relax.
(43) Excellent view , amazing place, view from mountain seeing the ocean is amazing. But the temple inside is restricted. Plan you trip , so you dont have more tide in ocean so you can go to the bottom of the temple.
(44) very unique temple! went on a foggy rainy day so i didnt get the most spectactualar views. i recommend going for sunset or sunrise. its very touristy and alot of tourist traps so be wary
(45) We saw this temple and photographed it at sunrise with our photography guide, Yande Ardana. What a wonderful experience! Highly recommended.
(46) This is such an amazing and mesmerizing place to visit in Bali! we got to the holy water and on to the steps of the temple. I was lucky enough to witness prayer recieve holy water, a forehead offering was placed on followed by a frangipani
(47) Beautiful temple but its a little bit smaller then you think. Little bit crowded surrounding, lot of tourist. We have visited at 11 o clock am.
(48) Relatively well preserved for a 16 century temple. There are 3 zones to the temple. The ouster is usually open fields and gardens. The middle zone, where supporting facilities and meeting pavilions are built. The holiest is the towering lotus throne of the highest god.\n\nWell maintained and in use today. The outer and middle zones area open to public. By walking around the holiest zone can be viewed from a walkway around the zone, which has a with low fence.\n\nFree access to the temple.
(49) The temple is near the lake which is surrounded by a breathtaking view of the mountains. I was blown away by this place. If you're a nature lover, this is a must see.
(50) Beautiful temple. It's beautiful up close and from far. After touring the temple, you may choose to visit the markets and do some shopping. Not a bad experience. Do note that the toilets around the area are chargeable at 2,000-3,000 rupiah.
(51) Beautiful Hindu temple built on the rocks in the sea. Amazing view of the sea. A nice historical place surrounded by markets & restaurants. A nice place to visit.
(52) Beautiful but very touristy. We though that we could walk up the steps that leads to the temple and was fooled by paying for holy water just to find that the steps leads to a dead end.
(53) We went here with gf we enjoyed historical place good cleen temple feeling cool and peaceful mind good day for me
(54) The temple is located on a rock just offshore. This is an extremely popular tourist destination and the whole area is often very busy indeed, especially in the late afternoons, pre-sunset. It is advisable to go there during weekday coz it is always very crowded on weekend and around 5 plus to see the sunset. Must see this magnificent Temple in Bali, you will never regret.
(55) you'll be competing with hundreds of visitors all trying to capture the perfect photo of this beautiful temple. from all angles it is so beautiful. We had a cool and cloudy day with misty conditions over the mountains & lake. This was my favourite temple in Bali, so serene. We wandered through the beautiful gardens and the kids had a play in the local playground which was great.
(56) I visited the temple on a rainy day. Rain added beauty to the entire landscape. The place has an Aura which cannot be explained in words. You just have to beware of Monkeys while visiting the temple. A must visit place in Bali.
(57) My family and I drove 2 1/2 hours to reach the temple. We did so on the recommendation of one of my friends at work who had said that this is one of the two places in Bali to visit. The view of the coast and the temple on the cliff is outstanding. If you are near there, by all means go and visit. To us it wasn't worth the five hours of driving day away from other places to visit.
(58) My favorite site of all the temples I visited. Did not go at sunset but that did not take away from the stunning beauty of the Indian ocean backdrop. Highly recommended to make a trip here.
(59) Beautiful setting in the early morning and late evening\nI went in both\n\nMornings the sun lighting up the rock with the temple the crashing waves and less crowds totally awed me\n\nBut the evening took my breath away\n\nI climbed the cliff at the back to not have the crowds in my face and got some amazing pics\n\nOne of the few places that have touched my soul
(60) Enjoyed seeing the lake and temple. It was a little far to drive but I did not regret seeing one of the most well known landmarks in Bali.
