(1) amazing experience with my trekking here. so much scenery to see and pictures to take. the climb is tiring but the view from the top is worth it.
(2) It is about 1-2 hours drive from Kuta Area to Kintamani. For hiking tour, it is better stay around Toya Bungkah area beside Batur Lake as this area is just walking distance to the starting point of Mt Batur. For tourist who prefer better restaurant at night, then they have to travel back to Kintamani Town as Toya Bungkah area don't have many restaurant.\n\nMorning call will be at 3am in the morning. We started walking at 4am, everything was dark and we proceed with a torch light in hand. After 1 1/2 hour, the sky become brighter which mark the sun is rising slowly. There are 3 points to see sunrise, and 2 hours of hike will be enough time for any moderate hiker be there on time. Then the mountain guide will prepared a light snack of steam banana bun with vocano heat. We were back to our hotel by noon and in time for lunch.
(3) It was a tempel by the lake in mountain. So you can guess the cold wind. The fantastic view. And great 'pura'. And also some water sport beside this 'pura'.
(4) Trackking at Agung mountain is one Of the adventure in Bali, around 75km from Denpasar,to east Bali, that you can fine Mother temple at Besakih, and Agung Mount.if you want Tracking must have Tracking guide to top, cause for safety.Hight 3142M,you can see view Sunset, and Sunrise,If you need Sunset you must have to stay at Camp.and need bring food and water.start at 12am and you can get Sunset view at champ around 5:30.take rest there view hours, start to top around 3-4am,and than you can get sunrise on the top around 6am.there are 3 top point on the top Mount.the Higher is top 3.from there you can see other view mount, and nice sunrise.thank you.\nRegard\nGede
(5) What an amazing experience... there's something magical about this trekk, starting off at 2am from our hotel w3 headed off. Bit of a drive from legian but was worth it as you get too see some sites of the beaten track. When we arrived it was freezing but of course the guides have coats to rent (they think of everything) we started off in the black of the night, it was incredible watching all the torch lights climbing the volcano. To be honest I found some parts hard going on the legs and I wanted to turn back but so glad I didn't. When we reached the top we had breakfast while waiting for the sunrise and by god the view was breathtaking. It was something I'll cherish for ever. Definitely worth the visit.
(6) We enjoyed the sunrise on mount nature and this was incredible. After hiking 2 hours you reach the summit that was literally just above the clouds .
(7) We visited mount Batur and the view of the volcano against a big lake is quite beautiful. Worth a quick stop and a few pictures, the more adventurous can choose a hike to the top of the volcano to view the sunrise.
(8) This was not a difficult hike, great for beginners too. The climb up was not tough, the descending could be a bit challenging as it can be slippery. The sunrise at the peak was amazing and the sea of clouds was magical.\nWe had an amazing guide from Bali Sunrise Tours. He was attentive, patient & helpful.
(9) My girlfriend and I climbed the south side with two guides for 800k. The climb was tough for us, but totally worth it for the experience, even without the view.\n\nMake sure you calculate in some time for stargazing: The view of the milky way is amazing. Download an app that let's you see where all the constellations are. One of the rare chances to see them as you're supposed to.
(10) This was an amazing experience! It was a hard trek climbing steadily at 2am. The pay off of reaching the top at about 6am and watching the sun rise was well worth it. The climb down was much harder. Be prepared to be physically challenged.\n\nI run regularly and am relatively fit. I was extremely sore the next day and a little sore two days later . This isn't a forest hike - although we saw many locals climbing the mountain in flip flops. One was even carrying a goat on his shoulder!\n\nIt's a must do but don't plan active activities for a few days afterwards.\n\nWe hired a guide. I would recommend this! We paid $55 a person. This included transport to and from the mountain, drinks, snacks, and breakfast.
(11) This spot should be on everyone's bucketlist, I've never seen such a beauty, it's worth a one day visit.\nIf you go there just be bold and do the hike (it's tiring but not dangerous)\nYou should just mind to have a suitable footwear, sunscreen and a cap.\nBe careful ! if you drop your phone you'll never see it again 😂
(12) I would like to give 5 starts rating for our guide Katuk wajib and Jero had organize our hike to mount Batur but the problem is crowded of people on the summit. Here our overall experienced recently on Mt. Batur.\n\nBed!\nThe place to touristic, difficult to get got spot for take picture, not wroth if you want move from hustle and bustle of city.\n\nThe weather is good but it was cold on the summit, the route difficult especially during ascent, need proper shoes.\n\nOvercrowded and you just couldn't relax and take the view in properly due to fear of people took photos.\n\nExcellent!\nWe are lucky got very good guide, he is Katuk Wajib ( Jeros uncle ), he very helpful, patient and friendly. One think we very appreciate what he have done, he drop us to the west summit to avoid overcrowded place.\n\nThe view was remarkable, the sunrise stunning and the landscape truly amazing.Trekking poles very useful, Katuk Wajib provide us 2 poles.\n\nReservation was easy, just text Jero through WhatsApp +6281904082208. I was founded it on site of Bali trekking tour Net.\n\nTips!\nWear proper boots or trekking shoes w/sharp gear. Bring jacket or layers as on the summit is very cold and wins, can be below 10 degrees.\n\nHead lamp much better than hand lamp, your hand will free during your hike if you have head lamp.\n\nAsk you guide move to west part to avoid overcrowded or ask Jero to organize Katuk as your guide.
(13) Didn't expect to see such an amazing view.. Was there in the late afternoon.. Most of the time, the mountain was covered by clouds.. However, we did get a good 2-3 mins clear view.. And it was priceless..
(14) This was a huge highlight of our trip to Bali. Completing the sunrise hike up mount batur. The hike is 2 hours up where you start through the Forrest, it is quite steep but I would say this is achievable for any fitness level. Few parts where you have to step on rocks but it is all breath taking. The views as you are climbing it are amazing. Once you reach the top and see the sunrise it's worth every bit of sweats and the hours of sleep lost. When you reach the peak there are monkeys around the top and other hikers too.\nEnjoy a simple egg breakfast which is cooked in the steam of the volcano! Truly magically to see!\nWe then took the other route down thanks to our guide which was amazing! Sliding down volcano sand and giggling all the way.\nOnce you reach the bottom and look back up the 1717 volcano it's a great feeling, straight back to the pool!\nIf your in Bali do this trek the sights you will see are amazing and serve great memories.
(15) My fiancé and I decided that we wanted to climb Mt Agung for 2 main reasons, highest in Bali & didn't want to experience what was likely to be more touristy, Mt Batur. So we borrowed some warm\nJackets, leggings and gloves, our camera, water bottle and some snacks and left to climb Mt Agung at 1am.\nWe met our guide, a little, older looking (actually in her 40's) lady and got flash lights for our head and off we went. At 1am it was a little chilly but as we began I was so so hot, so sweaty! We were the only ones when we started but after about 1 hour we had a break and 2 other groups of 2 + 2 guides caught up to us.\nWe continued to climb and after 2 hours, we had more breaks as it was getting much colder and we'd been climbing for a while, the terrain was different too, with it being more rocky and lose rock.\n\nWe reached the top at approximately 5:55am - so it took us almost 4.5 hours. Watching the sunrise was outstanding, incredible and worth everything, it was incredibly cold though and I would have loved to know the temperature. Would have been awful to not have a jacket or long pants (like one man) - it was also a bit windy.\n\nWe dreaded the climb down - my fiancé got sick almost half way down and our guide stayed with us and gave him a massage etc to help him and waited for him to recover enough to go down - so the decent took us a while longer than the others.\n\nIt was incredible but definitely not for someone who is looking for an easy climb to see the sunrise over bali - it is hard.\n\nMy advice would be:\n1. wear proper shoes, I wore running shoes and that was okay but my toes have been very sore from them being pushed forward going down\n2. Take 2 bottles of water\n3. Although the guides offer food, each guide/tour is different and it's nice to have food you actually like - for example we chose our 60cent packet of Oreos over boiled eggs\n4. Take sunscreen for the way down\n5. Definitely bring something warm to put on!!!!\n6. Be careful, it's easy to slip on the rocks, especially going down\n7. STRETCH / warm up & down - we didn't and we can still barely climb stairs or walk down them 3 days after!\n\nIt's an inspiring climb for sure and the fact that the guides do it often is crazy!
(16) We were fortunate enough to book a private trekking tour to Mt. Batur with Bazir. His father picks you up on time at your home and drives you to the bottom of Mt. Batur in a very nice and air conditioned car. He was very helpful and friendly so the long 1.5 hr trip ended up being very short. Bazir was waiting for us there to guide us on the mountain. He was very communicative, friendly and helpful the entire trip and made the trip to Batur the best experience we had in Bali. The sunrise is worth every penny and drop of sweat. Do yourselves a favour and book the trekking tour to Mt. Batur with Bazir and his father.
(17) Many tourist give this beauty a skip- but its highly recommended to visit this beauty and witness blissful sunrise!! To start with , a relatively easy hike to summit this beautiful live volcano , though you need decent amount of endurance levels to summit this a bit faster . Our trek started at 3.30 am in the morning and we were up by 5.15 am .. just before the sunrise .. its recommended to hike a bit early so as to get a good slot to place your cameras for a possible time lapse mode or to get a good comfortable seating with a great view at the top !! Once on the top , you will witness the might of Mt Agung in the back ground , behind which the sun rises .. surreal views .. keep your cameras and minds handy !! you don't want to miss this after a relatively moderate climb .. The sunrise & the ever active steam coming out of this volcano are the highlights !! If you have a guide with you , then he would probably make a decent breakfast - boiled eggs and a banana sandwich for you while you relish the views !! Do have torches handy as this trek is ideally done during the early dawn hours .. also a hiking stick may be of help to occasional hikers .. There is ample amount of steam that is let out by this volcano at the summit and its quiet refreshing during a cold morning .. Some expect witness molten lava , but its not to be seen ... Nonetheless , it takes around an hour to an hour an a half to climb down .. the route is a bit slippery as most of it is composed of black volcanic sand .. do witness the spring onion cultivation and tomato cultivation en-route during the beginning sectors of this hike !! Enjoy and be safe !!
(18) We read some reviews on trip advisor and a number of people suggested Bazir as a guide. We contacted him via WhatsApp (+62 877 60381082) and he replied very quickly and was helpful over WhatsApp. On the morning of the climb he was there waiting for us right on time. My girlfriend and I werent feeling 100% for the climb and Bazir was patient when we needed breaks and we never felt rushed. At the top he told us some history about the mountain and got us a seat, breakfast and a hot drink ready for sunrise! Bazir was a great guide and although you may pay slightly more to have a private guide it was 100% worth it as he takes you a quieter route and is very accomadating!
(19) Very nice places to visit. Wishing can wake up and see that mount batur atleast 1 day.but sadly hard to find hotel because alot have been move out from they.\nReally hate seller who push you to buy and follow you around untill you scared to come out from your vehicle. Hoping someone authority do something about it. That situation make me very unhappy almost make forgot how beautiful month batur is.
(20) I feel like this is a must do! Absolutely worth every step and sweat drop. I personally would recommend going with a tour versus trying to do it on your own. We used Eco Bali Cycling and were very pleased. There are tons of companies though so check around with what suits your needs. I do caution that this is not for everyone as far as physical ability. I am fit and it was hard. The trek up is uneven terrain with lots of loose rocks. We had contemplated bringing our children (6 & 10) and I am thankful we didn't. Only negative is the summit is not very large and there are lots of people on it. There was a local playing the guitar which I didn't enjoy. I climbed the mountain to see the view, gain some clarity, perspective, and serenity. Not to hear Hotel California. For me, the large crowd and music was a bit of a buzz kill. Most tours go down another way then from the climb up and you get more breathtaking views and to see some monkeys up close. I kept my distance and enjoyed from what I felt was a safe distance. Many feed and touched them. I did not. They are still wild animals. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, dress in layers, sneakers or hiking shoes. Bring water even if you opt to go with a tour. Extra water is good.
(21) Yes, this is a physically demanding climb for most people. Yes, there are loose rocks on the trail that you can slip on. Yes, the guides are more expensive than the rest of Bali. BUT ....once you get to the top and see the sunrise over the peaks it is all worthwhile. Keep an eye out for those pesky monkeys who are waiting to steal your breakfast and enjoy the view!! I think even though it is an early morning the views at sunrise are better and the heat won't get to you. A must \do\" if you are able."
(22) I started my climb fro the Pura Besikih temple at midnight with my guide Putu Suantara (+6285333858597 or +6281936569655) and made steady progress up the lower mountain trail. It was steep climbing but sure footed for the first kilometer or so but after that the trail get much looser. Putu did a great job of choosing the best trail from the many options. When an old trail becomes too eroded, a new one is blazed so there are many choices of which way to take. We arrived at the \Big Stone\" around 3am, which is slightly ahead of schedule, and sat down for some rest around a nice fire. After a quick nap under the stars and some strong Bali coffee that Putu brewed up, we set off for the summit about 5am, getting there just as the sun rose. Celebratory high fives were followed by noodle soup and lemon grass tea, then it was down, down, down. We got back to the parking lot about 11am, just in time to visit the temple and have a beverage before heading back in to town.\n\nI had a truly great experience on this climb and would highly recommend my guide Putu. He matched his pace to mine, was knowledgeable about the mountain and local geography, carried food and water to share and generally made this a wonderful time.\n\nI brought 3 liters of water on my own and drank every bit of it. I brought plenty of layers and could have dressed in any thing from short sleeves/shorts to full jacket/hat/gloves/ long pants. As it was I mostly wore my long pants with a long sleeve thin shirt and a wind breaker. It was much less warm on the summit than in Sanur, but never very cold. I think if you have experience climbing other mountains at this altitude and with similar vertical (~2000 meters) than you should be fine but I would not recommend this for inexperienced climbers unless they are very fit. The trail is very loose and I did quite a lot of climbing up on vines in the dark which can be a bit sporting. All in all though an amazing time!"
(23) Didn't do the trek just took a ride to a viewpoint of the mountain and lake. Amazing! Never expected such a thing in Bali. Really does look like a painting. Trek sounds fun too, but seeing it is a worthwhile stop.
(24) The climb was hard!!! You climb in the dark and it feels like forever. It took us 2 hours. In the end it was worth it! You reach a little hut on the side of the volcano and have tea and coffee and breakfast. The views are spectacular and well worth the trek!\nIt is cold up the top so make sure you have warm clothes on.
(25) Before going we had read multiple times in the reviews \I thought I was ready for Agung but I wasn't\" or \"you're better off doing it during the night, because if you saw what you're doing you would stop\" are definitely true!\n\nWe starting the sunrise trek at 02h00 from Pasar Agung. This was a very challenging hike; you walk the steep endless slope that is Mt Agung and you keep thinking that once you hit the next plateau you'll take a short break, but here's the thing... there are no plateaus during this 2000m ascent and the slope only gets steeper! We did it one step at a time and god are we glad we did it. Not only you get that sense of pride and accomplishment, but when you glance at Bali from it's highest point, you get a view most people cannot even imagine exists!\n\nOn a side note, we had hired Wayan Dartha (google him, he has a website) and I want to give him my thanks. He was extremely helpful and professional and I'm not entirely certain my girlfriend would have made it to the top and back if he hadn't been there helping her. While his English is nowhere near excellent, he will communicate with you effectively. I highly recommend him."
(26) My experience at Mount Batur was great. There was a beautiful sunrise, not too many people, and friendly guides. The hike wasn't too hard and I enjoyed it. We woke up at around 4 to 5 am and drove there with a trip agency (I can't remember its name). Later we stopped at a hot spring wich was very relaxing! The only reason I put a four star review is because the breakfast was not the best. Overall I recommend going to Mount Batur but bring your own food.
(27) Challenging, but definitely worth experiencing. Once in a lifetime experience.\n\nStefan: I cant even talk about this, thats how amazing it was.
(28) We did the sunrise hike. We arranged it through the main office in town for 400000. We asked all the right questions, they provided flashlights, pickup and drop off service, our egg, tea and banana at the top. The guide was great. I know people complain about having to hire a guide but I wouldn't have wanted to start walking up a volcano at 3:30 am in the dark on a hard to follow trail. The guides are well worth the small fee and they are working to support their local economy so how do you complain about that.
(29) Climbing Mount Agung is one of those things that I did not enjoy at the time but am very pleased to have done. I have climbed quite a few peaks and many have been described as challenging but this is in a different league.\n\nThe thing about this mountain is that it is incredibly steep the whole way with no respite. There is also no path to follow so it would be very difficult to ascend without a guide. In fact it is very difficult even with a guide. The terrain changes as you go higher but none of it is straightforward. It would be very easy to fall and in many places the fall could be a very long way.\n\nOn getting to the top there is a feeling of elation. Sadly we didn't manage to get to the top in time for sunrise but nevertheless the views are quite stunning. We set off hiking at 2.00am and this was way too late. It took us around 5 hours to ascend and that was without stopping other than for a quick snack for a few minutes.\n\nNothing could have prepared us for the journey down. It felt as though it was twice as long as the journey up and it took us around 9 hours to walk down. The route is very slippery in places and we fell several times - fortunately not too far.\n\nI would recommend this hike only to those who are very fit and have plenty of hiking experience. If you haven't (and we fall into this category) then you can still do it but you will really suffer. That said - the views are amazing and so worth it if you can put up with a bit of pain and exhaustion.
(30) The spectacular mountainous region around Kintamani with its deep crater lake and bubbling hot springs. Lake Batur is the largest lake in Bali and the region offers some of the most spectacular views to be found anywhere on the island. Lake Batur also provides water for an underground network of streams and springs across the southern slopes of the mountain.\n\nThe district is the earliest known kingdom in Bali, dating from the tenth century. The evenings get cool up here but it's well worth the stay overnight to climb the volcano and watch the sunrise.
(31) Beautiful place, there you can take amazing photos .... infront you have Agung volcano (3000mt) a pleasure for the eyes!!!
(32) I had planned to climb Gunung Agung, the highest volcano on the island, but read scary online accounts about it, and chickened out and climbed Gungung Batur instead. Only after I got back from Bali did I find out from that the two climbs are about the same. But I certainly don't regret climbing Gunung Batur! It's an adventure -- you climb at night in order to reach the top at daybreak, and parts of it are both steep and slippery with loose rocks. (I'm 69 years old and was slightly slower than some climbers -- but slightly faster than some others! I'm in very good shape, though, so if you're older you need to be in good shape too.) And the view is spectacular, all the way from the near view of the lake to the distant view of Mt Rinjani, the volcano on Lombok, the next island over.\n\nI was there on a beautifully clear day, with clouds in the far distance but none nearby. But at times it's so covered with fog that you can barely see your hand in front of your face -- I'm not exaggerating! So check the weather forecast first.
(33) Awesome experienced lately in Bali with Jero Bali trekking tour seminyak, contacted jero through his number @+6281904082208 we got from his site balitrekkingtour. Net require sunrise hike.\n\nWas picked up at sanur Mahagiri villas at 02 00 am. Direct to volcano then meet Jero as our guide. He is very nice guy, helpful, friendly and informstive.\n\nSunrise was trully awesome, breakfast on the top wad nice, coffee made us warmer. Finally we done it by 09:05 am till boarding car.\n\nWe are strongly recommended him and do not hesittate to contact me if you want ask about Mt. Batur hike. Thank Jero
(34) my very first time to do this hiking and i did it :) careful, hiking have an addicted effect :D\nthere was 5 persons of us and my leader carry his 2 years old son to the top, well done!\nwe didn't reach to the highest top only let's say until second top where there are some warung (hut) that you can order tea, coffee and instant noodles. my shoes are broken (shame on me) and the others decide not to go to the top however the view is also great from that place and even though it was cloudy so the sun not perfectly saw but it was such a great experience.\n\npreparation is important and make sure you are in a good condition (physical condition), jacket, mineral water, flashlight and wear a good shoes for climbing! don't bring too many items on your backpack so it won't weigh you down (for the beginner just like me :)\nfor ladies bring toilet papers and/or wet tissue.
(35) Amazing night. Full of star. We start to claim at 4. We reach the top of volcano at 5.35.\nThe guide bring a torch light, water, and breakefast.\nOnce at the top is a bit cold. Need to be well cover. To wait the amazing view. Sunrise around 6.10.\nYou have to do it
(36) I was there as apart of a day tour with other things that day it was along drive up but we had lunch at a restaurant over looking the mountain it was a great view well worth the drive very nice pics
(37) I went back and forth between doing this and Agung which is much harder. I'm glad I chose this one as hiking at night when you're sleep deprived is much harder than normal. I went through my hotel in Ubud so it was much cheaper than arranging a whole legitimate tour. It was basically just following a man up the mountain and he tried to explain a few things but didn't speak English to the extent that he could answer questions. I got sick about halfway up from something I'd eaten and ended up throwing up on the side of the volcano at 3 AM - memorable. It rained the whole way up but luckily cleared up for a beautiful sunrise from the top. We had a decent breakfast (be careful of the monkeys and stray dogs stealing your food) and then headed down a different way than we came. You could tell the guide was ready to be done. I'm glad I paid a fraction of what some tours cost, even if the tour itself wasn't as good. Great views and worth the effort.
(38) The views of Mount Batur was the highlight of all the Bali attractions we attended in the Ubud area over a four day period. Luckily on the morning we visited, the clouds were high and we had nice view. Unfortunately, the vendors don't stop pestering you to buy their souvenirs, as soon as one vendor leaves you, another one approaches.....just be prepared for this and don't let it spoil your visit.
(39) You have to climb and see the sunrise from the top.\nThe views are amazing and worth the almosg 2 hours of walk.\nDon't forget to take a sweater and a jacket\nIt s cold up there.\n👍
(40) totally awesome sunrise view, with only 1.5-2 hours of walking,we can taste this scenery!\nbefore you go there, please be prepared, especially your physical body.\nIt is only 1.5-2 hours walking, but the track is quite challenging.\nbut don't worry, there are many experienced guide who will help you out until the top.\n\ngreat destination to try in Bali.\n\n😆😊😊😊😊\n\n
(41) For you to have a better understanding...\nI am 21yo, physically in good condition, but nothing extreme. When I read all the reviews about this hike, I was quite frightened. That you NEED to go with a guide, that it is really difficult. BUT. If you know what you're doing (you have been on a few hikes and you know what to expect), you have good shoes (not flip flops, like the locals), appropriate clothing and enough water (I needed 2.5l) you're good to go. It is really an average hike like you would see in Alps or High Tatras in Europe. We rode our bikes to Pasar Agung and started our hike at 2:00 am. It took us 2.5h up and 2 hours down. We paid 100.000rp at the Pasar Agung entrance for a ticket and went without a guide. And as for the hike, it was amazing. You can see the local Hindu people climbing up in flipflops to pray at the top. And of course the amazing sunrise. Really recommended!
(42) First off, its a very easy hike for someone of moderate or better experience. We barely broke into a sweat by the time we finished. If you want a hard climb, go to Mt Rinjani on Lombok - going to the summit will get your hear going!\n\nThe crowds are very bad - we were queuing for a long time going up, AND DOWN the mountain which was extremely frustrating.\n\nThere are some loose rocks and sand, but its really not that bad (when compared to Mt Rinjani - anyone complaining about it here really doesn't know how bad it can get).\n\nThe sunrise itself was fantastic, when we could see it. Because mt Batur isn't that high, there is a risk of being stuck in the clouds. We were lucky that the cloud was breaking, so we saw the sunrise from time to time.\n\nWould do again because its exceptionally cheap (maybe 20USD) and easily worth the frustration.
(43) The cost of the trek was $80usd. This included transport, guide fees, a breakfast of boiled eggs and buns, and hot coffee at the summit. This trip was initially planned to include camping on the summit, but bad weather was coming in later in the day and the trip became a day trip. In spite of missing out on the camping part, I was able to not only hike the mountain, but see some amazing sights. The trek began at the temple of Pura Besakih.\n\nAs with Mt. Kinabalu (aug 2013), this trek began in the middle of the night. I was picked up from my hotel at midnight and we reached Pasar Agung, the beginning of the climb, at 1200am. By 1:30 we were on our way. The beginning of the hike is at the temple Pura Besakih. The climb began with 200 strenuous steps. It was as though the mountain was issuing us a challenge “Climb me if you dare”\n\nAfter the 200 or so steps we were faced with more upward climbing. Although my confidence and strength level remained intact through the trees and bush, the real challenge came when we approach the granite summit. Mt. Kinabalu had ropes at certain dangerous parts of the climb. This was to keep us from falling and ensure our safety. Mt. Agung had no such luxuries. Mt. Agung had several large rock formations and a few narrow ledges that really tested ones alertness and courage.\n\nMade it to the summit at 0545hrs and was rewarded with another spectacular sunrise that can only be viewed in the thin atmosphere at the top of a mountain on an island. We also saw a spectacular crater which was the site of a volcanic eruption that killed many people in 1963. This event is commemorated with altars to the Hindu gods at the summit.
(44) Basically we did a day trip out to the volcano, had lunch there and came back. The view alone was worth drive, plus you can stop off at some places along the way (designed to obligate you into buying stuff but not absolutely necessary). We were lucky that it was not raining.
(45) We took the day tour from the hotel to Mount Batur and other places along the way. It was of $100, although one can get cheaper tour from outside of the hotel.\n\nIt was ~3 hours drive from Nusa dua to this place. We saw Mount Batur from a restaurant far from the mountain. The view from here was awesome.\n\nFood at the restaurant was pathetic and service was also bad.
(46) Me and my wife did a night (morning) hike to the crater with one of the local guides. It took us four hours to get to the top after starting from a car park at 1000 meters. Doing 2000 meters ascent in four hours is quite challenging physically. However the track is not technically difficult at all. You just need strong shoes and polls. The guides usually make some simple breakfast at the top to have while watching the sun rising over the Bali island. Simply stunning!
(47) Mount Batur is the second active volcanoes in Bali which is specialized for easy track lovers. The track is not so hard which could be reached in 1,5 to 2 hours. Most trekkers could reach the summit easily and would be rewarded by a beautiful sunrise with Mount Abang and Batur lake in the background. Experience to boil the eggs at the steams is other attraction you might be enjoyed.\nWalking down back to the parking area is normally faster.
(48) Started hiking up around 2300 from the Besakih Temple (actual peak of Mt. Agung) entrance and let me tell you it ain't no walk in the park. Ended up making it up to the top 2 hours early, so we made a fire and napped till then. Once the sunrise came it was definitely one of the most beautiful sites you'll ever see. You could see all of Bali! Make sure you check the weather before doing this! Hydrate the night prior to hiking this volcano and bring at least 2 liters of water. My guide provided me with breakfast at the top. After it was all said and done it took us 3 hours to descend. There are plenty opportunities to rest during this hike but be aware you might miss the sunrise if you take too long!
(49) Avoid the busy traffic and souvenir sellers, this place had an outstanding view of Caldera of Mount and Lake Batur. We had lunch there and keep admiring the view every time we looked down. The temperature was cooler than the other part of Bali. It is definitely a MUST to visit!!
(50) It was a great hike to the peak of Mount Batur with my other half and . The guides were helpful and patience is their forte. However, the hike was a steep one after an hour of walking. We took at least 2 hours to hike to the top of the mountain including the one hour walk. When we were at the peak, it was freezing. I do advise renting a fleece jacket for 25000IDR or bringing one for the hike. Do order coffee from the warung at the summit of the mountain. The hike was a memorable one and one which we were glad that we've included in our itinerary and have conquered it.
(51) We started at 2am and got to the foot of Mount Batur by 4am, it was a 1.5-2 hours trek up to the sunrise point. It was well worth the climb, its not really hard neither is it an easy climb. the view is brilliant.
(52) You can reach the Mount Batur from Ubud (2h drive) or Tejakula (1h30) in the north or from the south coast. It's an easy 1h30 to go up to the top of the volcano, and less than 1h to go down on an easier path. The view is very nice and you can see the mount Rijani in Lombok. Most people start at 2:30AM from their hotel to see the sunrise at 6AM over mount Agung and Mount Rijani, and expect 200 people with you up there in August!! We saw the sunrise at 6am from the hotel in Tejakula and enjoyed the view up the mount at 9:30am with no one else than the monkeys. It's up to you! Better with trekking shoes but many people were wearing regular sport shoes.
(53) The drive to the place is Through The villages and hence interesting... On reaching there we had sumptious Indonesian lunch at Chintamani restaurant... We didn't visit the volcano site ... rather climbed up to the rooftop of nearby building to have a Clear View of the volcano
(54) Its became very crowded especially at the weekend. Prepare yourself for around 2 hours trekking with mostly are rocks a long the way. After reach pos 2. we need to climb around 30minutes to reach the highest level and see the very beat sunset. Unfortunately when I reach the top. Its clouding. Cannot see the sunrise, sunrise just appeared around 3 seconds. What it was a great journey. Be careful when you go down, sometimes it slippery.
(55) Amazing climb in the wee hours with many stars above and a line of torches lighting up the trail above. We found the trek quite easy and did not really work up a sweat.\nThe view was so beautiful and the moment the sun emerged was so exciting due to the anticipation of all Trekkers.\nOur guide was pretty nice but he was sly! He talked alot about how he was going to take us around to the west side of the mountain because it was the best etc etc. When we were just about to go he told us it was an \extra trip\" and that it would cost more. He became quite sulky after we politely declined. On the way down he went on to tell us that he doesn't get paid by the guide company and that all the people he guides give him a tip of 100 000RP tip each at the end. He told us this several times. We really found him quite sly which is a shame because we loved the climb so much and the morning sort of ended on a downer.. We absolutely love Balinese people paticularly their kindness and sense of humour. We found him to be the exception to the rule.\nIf you get a good guide this experience will be 10/10!!"
(56) Was thinking of doing the hike but did not enough time. Non-hikers can still get to enjoy the amazing view from afar. There are quite a few restaurants with fantastic view of Mt Batur and you can still enjoy the scenery and fresh air, on top of delicious meal!
(57) We visited restaurant, buffet self serve, and enjoyed views across to the volcano. Outside patio allows great photo opportunities.
(58) Our Mt Batur experience was victory saved from the jaws of defeat. Based on recommendations we went to Mt Batur as a day excursion from Ubud. This mountain is famous for its sunrises but our crew of five was never going to get up at 2am so we decided to go mid-day to get out of Ubud and stretch our legs. We traveled to Mt Batur with another family so together we were 9 people with kids ranging from 5 years to 17 years. We learned upon arriving that we needed to hire a local guide to take us up the mountain. We understand the “full employment plan” and were very willing to contribute to the local economy, but they were asking for $40 per person for guiding services. We werent going to pay $350 to walk up a small mountain so we proposed $80 for our whole group, which seemed very reasonable. We almost agreed to this price when a big thunder clap and dark clouds warned of an approaching storm so we decided to bag the mountain and just walk up the trail a ways. However, at this point the local guides got very aggressive and said they wouldnt allow us on any road or trail without a guide. We explained there was no way we were going to pay $80 to walk a mile or two in the rain so continued on. Now they got downright hostile and started threatening us with their motorbikes and the police. Weve traveled for three months all over SE Asia and weve never been threatened and harassed like these people did. Further, to have them do this in front of a group of children was awful. Unfortunately everyone was upset at this point so our peaceful mountain journey was already ruined. We returned to our cars and had them drive a few km down the road to find a short trail we could walk on before returning to Ubud. It turns out the racket covers the whole valley but our trail head was so obscure that no other \guides\" were there. We trekked on a remote path for about a km and somehow found a newly paved asphalt road that leads to a pagoda near the top of the mountain (this road shows up now on google maps - on the west side of the mt). We followed the paved road to within 700 meters of the crater rim and then walked up the trail to the top. We enjoyed some great views and the rain held off until our return journey.\n\nWe enjoyed Mount Batur but the GUIDE SCAM needs to be eradicated. As our experience proved, they don't respect their customers and this is all about extracting money from people.\n\nFor those visiting Bali who want to do the Mt Batur sunrise hike, I support you buying a package deal that includes a guide. The trail is moderately technical and doing it in the dark could be challenging, especially in the crater. But guides are not required if hiking during the day."
(59) First hiking trip for me, this was a truly breathtaking experience. Wear shoes which are comfortable for walking.\n\nI did find this trek hard. It took us about 4 hours in total. We had a tour guide which I'm so glad we had as he was really helpful. We ended the trip by using the hot spring which was a lovely experience especially after a long hike.
(60) Enjoyed the beautiful view and cool weather at Mt. Batur. Had lunch at the restaurant overlooking the volcano. Nominal entrance fee (equivalent to about a $ or a couple of $'s...unfortunately, can't remember the exact amount).
