(1) Great experience with great cultural temples and sights. All thanks to DUNGKY TOURS BALI for making this a great day to learn more about the culture. Recommend to everyone to experience the Tanah Lot Temple tours and book with DUNGKY TOURS BALI. Great operator with great personality.👌👌👌👌👍👍
(2) This place almost similar to Tanah Lot, from my judgment Tanah Lot is better and more beautiful scenery. The cliff is very similar, unless you guys like to see monkeys, which is plenty of them, some really fat and funny. Have a great holiday.
(3) Tanah Lot is very beautiful and the grounds are well maintained, but it is a pity that it's so crowded and that the route to the temple is now lined with shops.\n\nIt was cloudy the day we visited, so we weren't able to watch the sunset, but we were able to take some lovely pictures and I still think it's worth the visit.
(4) Went to Tanah Lot for sunset. Even though it was kinda cloudy that day, but the views were stunning with high tide. The temples are very nice as well. It was a Sunday and the place was not very crowded. Just that there was a long queue for the holy springs experience.
(5) Tanah Lot is a popular tourist attraction and on our visit too, we found the place crowded with tourists all over. The area before the temple is a vast marketplace. A recommended stop especially if you need to buy souvenirs or aim to buy some antiques for yourself. Move on to reach the much awaited temple to find yourself in a blend of hues of the sky and the sea that form the perfect setting for the temple. You can go to the peaks to get some aerial views of parts of the temple and if the tide is low you will be lucky to cross over to the temple that stands in the middle of the water.
(6) We actually visited Tanah Lot twice within two weeks this year. The first visit was at low tide and it was a bit windy and promising rain, but cleared for the hour or so we spent there. We were able to walk all the way around the temple area and received our blessings before the tide rushed back in. The gardens were beautiful and of course there were myriad stalls and food areas to either sit and drink or buy any souvenir you could think of. The second visit to Tanah Lot was a lovely day but we arrived when the tide was in so we did not join the line of people to be blessed again as they were standing in knee height water. But we did revisit some of the gardens that we had not had time to check out properly the first time and really enjoyed our second visit as much as the first. A very nice temple for all members of a family to visit.
(7) Definitely a must visit location for a Bali holiday. Like other Bali attractions (e.g. Tanah Lot Temple), visit early in the day to avoid crowds.
(8) We have heard so much about Tanah Lot Temple and was told its a must see in Bali but we werent inform the Temple can only be reached when the tide is low. \nVisitors are not allowed access into the temple; only for those who are making offerings. This is acceptable since the numbers of tourists are big. \nBut do check on the tide before making the trip out. Not much of the temple can be seen from the land side because it is hidden by trees and shrubs. \nThe surroundings are pleasant and well maintained and there are little stalls along the path.
(9) Personally I like it better than Tanah Lot temple... unfortunately it was a very dry season so there was not much water around the temple otherwise worth a visit... Nice area along with the other near by lakes and the Danau Batur lake and volcano.
(10) Tanah Lot temple is located at the southwest of Bali island. It is known for the sunset view. But if you go late in the evening, the water would have receded. There are many eatouts and shops around - so it is a proper tourist location. You can click good pictures of the setting sun and the rocks. \n\nThere is a queue to just step into the caves where you would be blessed by the priests and you HAVE TO make a donation - this was something that put me off. When there is a fee to enter a temple, you should not be forced to pay to get blessed !!!
(11) Tanah Lot gave us lots of disappointment. Compared to other picturesque places in Bali, this is one level below. You need to pay 30K ruppiah per person and still need to rent Traditional Balinese customer and offering to enter the temple. Moreover its crowded and not that clean. The traffic leading to temple is heavy and roads narrow
(12) \You're not in Bali if you don't go to Tanah Lot!\", said people in Indonesia. So your picture in front of the temple was just an evidence that you had visited Bali... hahaha. Nice sea view from the beach and you can take a quick shot pics here and get printed. It will cost IDR 20,000 for one photo. The prices of food stalls are very expensive, I suggest to buy some drinks in mini market."
(13) We drove from Kuta from our Scoopy to Tanah Lot. \nThe journey is amazing with Rice fields all along the way, beautiful temples around. \n\nWe parked our scoopy, bought Entrance ticket. \nThe stairs to the Bali waters is mesmerizing. The blue waters welcomes you to the island. \n\nYou need to cross the water...few steps to go to the Temple. Visitors are not permitted to visit the temple. \n\nWe visited the flowing water from the shrine. \n\nThere are these beautiful caves around. \n\nIt was a sunny day and with scorching heat, humidity got all tanned. Its recommended to carry an umbrella. \nWe quenched ourselves with Dragon Fruit juice. \n\nWe relaxed in the garden upstairs with the view of Scenic Tanah Lot. Perfect spot for Landscape pictures. \n\nShopping at Tanah Lot is much fun. Souvenirs, Bali t shirts are at much reasonable rates.
(14) Tanah Lot Temple is beautiful temple on ocean. We go there with my friends and see the beautiful sunset. Thank you for this place.
(15) Worth a visit to Tanah lot. A very beautiful place. Should plan to go there in the evening at sunset time.
(16) Located about 30 Km away from Denpasar, Tanah Lot Temple was purportedly built in the 16th century, in the honor of the Hindu sea god Baruna. The temple itself is relatively difficult to visit, as it is located on a rock formation about 300 meters from the shore and is accessible by foot only on low tide. As others have mentioned, even you are able to make it to the temple, chances are you find it closed. However, there are a few small open restaurants on the cliff west of the temple, which offer wonderful views of the temple itself and the surrounding ocean. It is one of the important Balinese temples, has an amazing location and is very much worth a visit.
(17) Tanah Lot temple is located on a hill top and famous for the amazing sunset. This is a public temple and you offer your prayers
(18) A trip to Bali will not be complete without a visit to the Tanah Lot temple. Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. This is one of Bali's landmarks famous for its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops. I can stay around this temple for a whole day and still feel refreshed on a summer temperature.
(19) Tanah Lot temple is an iconic landmark for Bali. Thus, my friend & I made sure we visited it. \n\nIt was drizzling when we arrived. But that didn't dampen our spirits. We saw the beautiful temple from a cafe. Our guide led us closer to the temple. But we didn't go in.\n\nThe temple was built on top of a rock. During high tide, the temple will be surrounded by water. Visitors can walk to the temple during low tide. And it is famous for its sunset view. \n\nThe place is heavily crowded by tourists. Do watch your belongings & try not to bump into any selfie sticks as there are many photo opportunity angles!
(20) Tanah lot is a temple built on a large offshore rock with the waves lashing against it which makes it an alluring sight culminating fittingly week long Indonesian adventure.
(21) We did this as a part of our private day-long tour with a driver from the \Bali Incredible Tour\" company. We came here before sunset, so we could get some eye-catching views of the Tanah Lot temple against the setting sun. It's a nice temple complex, if you aren't bothered by crowds of people, and IMHO, a little too touristy. Everybody is trying to catch a picture and it can get a bit crazy, esp. during high tides when lifeguards have hands full to keep people from losing their footing and fall into the ocean...\n\nYou cannot get to the main temple as it is separated by water and in any case it is a holy site prohibited from visiting.\n\nWalk around, take some sunset pictures, if clouds allow for it and find a quieter spot inside the complex away from all the 'turistas' to enjoy the serenity of the place."
(22) Tanah Lot Temple is one of Balis most important landmarks, famed for its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops. An ancient Hindu shrine perched on top of an outcrop amidst constantly crashing waves; Tanah Lot Temple is simply among Balis not-to-be-missed icons. \nThe onshore site is dotted with smaller shrines alongside visitors leisure facilities that comprise restaurants, shops and a cultural park presenting regular dance performances. The temple is located in the Beraban village of the Tabanan regency, an approximate 20km northwest of Kuta, and is included on most tours to Balis western and central regions.\nAfter centuries of large waves persistently crashing at its rock base, Tanah Lot faced the constant threat of erosion, reaching a significant decline in 1980. The authorities carried out preservation efforts to Tanah Lot and other historical sites island-wide with aid from the Japanese government. Fully restored, a third of the present Tanah Lot is actually artificial rock. At high tide, waves flood the causeways making it impossible to cross. At low tide, you may cross to view the rock base where the legendary guardian sea snakes dwell in crevices. \nA must visit - I know another temple but they are all so good.
(23) Tanah Lot Temple is a Balinese Hindu temple on the rock located near beach. We can view this temple from several spot points with spectacular view of the ocean and sunset. We will find the temple a drift on the seawater when the water is going tide because this temple will be surrounded by the seawater. The parking lot is a bit far off from the temple. You have to walk a while through the shopping area and restaurants. There are lot of things that you can buy. You will then reach the rocky beach side and the temple. As everywhere, tourists are not allowed inside the temple. But the view from all the 3 sides is mesmerizing. It is very crowded at sunset time as that is the best time to view the temple. People are busy taking selfies and even special wedding photo sessions are carried out. It has a long area along the coastline. Toilets inside are charge IDR 3000/- per person. The temple is around 1 hour journey from Kuta.
(24) Excited trip to visit Beautiful tanah lot temple.\nThere is a holy snake Beatiful view and everythings is so amazing
(25) Visited Tanah Lot Temple today. Its a lot better if you are with a tour group, or have a driver, as they will explain all the interesting details about what you are seeing. It was high tide so we couldnt go accross to one of them, and overcast and no sunset as such. But well worth the visit, to see some history in the country you are visiting. 30,000 rph to get in approx $3 AUD, so not expensive per person, however it does cost $3-4 Aud to go to the toilet there.
(26) I took a no-frills sunset tour from Perama Tours for 165k Rupiah (including a discount as I went on their Tanah Lot tour) and the traffic going here was better than the terrible traffic to Tanah Lot from Kuta. If you are lucky as I was, no one else in your tour will go to the Kecak performance so you can get the heck out of here before those seeing the performance try to leave all at once.\n\nThe temple itself is nothing spectacular and the view of the sunset is like any other sunset view from cliffs (Note: there was usually a cloud bank on the horizon during my week in Kuta) - except there are ornery monkeys who will try and steal whatever they can from you (like a pair of sun glasses and a hair braid from two tourists when I was there). \n\nIf you are choosing between Uluwatu and Tanah Lot for a sunset tour, go to the latter as its a much prettier sea temple (and a much bigger tourist trap), but be aware of the TERRIBLE TRAFFIC from Kuta that I talked about in my review for it and plan accordingly if you aren't going to be on an organized tour.
(27) Tanah Lot is very incredible with the temple over the cliff on the sea. Surround this place there are many corals and people can play the sea water. This place also good for photgraphy. Fully recommended one.
(28) We haven't seen such a beautiful sunset which we experienced from the cliff of Tanah lot. Its perfect place for the couples to spend their memorable evening and watching the colors spread by the sun while setting. Trip to Bali without visiting this spot is useless. Have to try this.
(29) Tanah lot Temple, is certainly worth a visit, just to see how beautiful the temples are with the water swirling around them ..... its busy so expect lots of people & lots of ladies and children selling there flowers etc .....I can imagine it's very special at sunset .....
(30) Much of the same temple stuff.... Lots of markets around trying to sell rubbish. Tanah lot is on some brilliant Oceanside that is possibly worth seeing if you can stand the countless amounts of budding photographers that you have to pretend to be sorry for walking through their shot as the redo their hair because they actually don't care about the beautiful view they are vicariously photographing..... Am I ranting about the amount of tourists at Tanah lot, Yes.
(31) ( Kindly correct me if I'm wrong)\n\nMy friends and I went to Tanah Lot Temple on 10th Sept. The entrance was very touristy, and we each had to pay 60k IDR to enter. We took a taxi in and the taxi waited for us because he said it's not possible to get a taxi out of there. \n\nUpon entering, you see many shops selling souvenirs and clothing, bags, etc. You get to really enter the temple area after walking pass all these. The temple is located at the sea side so you get a sea view. Recommended to wear slippers/sandals. \n\nWe were required to queue up at a holy water spot to perhaps wash our forehead. Then people who are in charge of the temple will paste some rice on your forehead and flower on your head near your ear. After which you would walk up a flight of stairs which shows nothing... It was disappointing and felt like we went for the sea view.
(32) only accessible on low tide tanah lot is certainly well worth the trip out. beautiful views and don't forget to get blessed with holy water with plenty of eating places along the way.
(33) we visited Tanah Lot in the morning, so the water was low. The sight is beautiful, very romantic and full of energies. Worth to visit if you are in Bali!
(34) Fantastically located by the ocean Tanah Lot is a mystic place built by the ocean swells for thousands of years. Good place to meet the Balinese hinduism - with a lot of spiritism embedded. Me and my family really enjoyed an afternoon around this temple. A recommendation is to stay until sunset. It´s fantastic.
(35) We went in June 24th 2017 to Bali and Tanah Lot was not in our package then also we went from our own expenses, and man it was worth every single money we paid to the cab driver. what a location. mesmerizing and breathtaking. nothing can beat the experience we had there. chilly wind on our face no sign of sun, cloudy weather with sea shore completely visible but not accessible for public because of the risk.\nIts a must visit if you are going to Bali. The temple is in the ocean so during high tides the path to Temple is submerged under water hence its not accessible , we were lucky as the path was not submerged in water.
(36) Far too many people come here for it to be enjoyable. You'll be struggling for space, watching the sunset with 100s of other people. The story of Tanah Lot is impressive but I'd give this one a miss - the crowds really do spoil it. You might get a half decent photo of the sunset from the first of the five temples but beware of selfie sticks.
(37) I visited Tanah Lot by myself with a driver, walking down the steps towards the beach and temple there were beautiful black rocks everywhere, and the water was clear. I only stayed for a short time, as there isn't a lot to do in my opinion - there are markets and food around the temple but personally I never stay longer than an hour at a place. There is an entrance fee, but like most Indonesia fee's there are the equivalent to a few dollars, if that. I think it's one of the prettiest temples in Bali, especially for those who enjoy taking photos.
(38) The temple compound at Tanah lot is big. You have to go through the usual stores before you get to see the temples. You can find hawker stores selling small rice cakes filed with palm sugar syrup. It's worth a try. There actually are 2 temples in the compound. Tanah Lot is inaccesible during high tide so they built a 2nd one, which name eludes me right now, that is also on a hill over water but has a land bridge. Visitors aren't allowed to go to either temples. But the view of the waves is a sight to behold. ;)
(39) Tanah lot is a beautiful temple set at the edge of water. During high tides, the temple gets cut off from the main access, so would recommend checking the tide timings before heading out. Though the main temple is off limits for tourists, it is quite nice to walk around and even get your feet wet in the water if you desire. Apart from the temple, there is a park with a path along the cliff edge, which provides some good views. There's also a touristy market between the parking and the temple.\nOnly drawback is how crowded it gets in the evenings.
(40) As one of the most popular places of interest in Bali, Tanah Lot Temple is without a doubt serving beautiful sunset. Located on the coast of West Bali in the Tabanan Regency, it is the place to worship the Sea God of Balinese, and uniquely placed on a rock formation out from the coast, which makes it appear to be floating on the water during high tide. There has been a surprising amount of debate and discussion about the myth that if you watch the scenic sunset with your lover in this temple, your relationship wont survive more than the next 1 year. Do you dare chance it yourself? It has such awe-inspiring beauty, capturing whats best about being alive on this magnificent place we call earth.
(41) Pura Tanah Lot is the most visited and photographed temple in Bali, especially at sunset when crowds and traffic overwhelm the site. \n\nAt high tide, waves flood the causeways making it impossible to cross. At low tide, you may cross to view the rock base where the legendary guardian sea snakes dwell in crevices around the Tirta Pabersihan fountain. This natural spout is the source of holy water for all the temples in the area. Priests at the fountain bless visitors by sprinkling holy water over their heads. You can cup your palms and take a sip to prove it is amazingly fresh water.
(42) We were all so looking forward to admire the famous sunset from the Tanah Lot temple. Reading reviews here I had a beautiful place in mind. First of all, this is the most expensive temple visit we had to pay in all of Bali and for what...? Right after the entrance, we see 2 alleys heading towards the sea fully lined up with shops of all kinds - from the most gimmicky plastic item to very beautiful Ubud wood carvings. But what does this have to do with the temple would you ask? Well so did I and I am still struggling for a decent answer. We enter the temple and it is so packed with people that we can only walk at a crawling pace. Then, to see the serpent is free but a donation is mandatory ! There were several interesting buildings we could from far, but none open to the visitors. So, it's expensive and you get to see a courtyard & a cliff. The view is breathtaking...but you have again plenty of those in Bali. Very frustrating and I would not recommend going there. There are so many temple in Bali, this is not worth your time (it's also always congested to get there so plan well ahead).
(43) We visited Tanah Lot with Bali Sun Tours. We went early morning which was great because it wasnt busy and were able to take photos with ease. However have heard its stunning in the evening around sunset. Its a lovely walk from the car park to Tanah Lot Temple. There are many food huts and souvenir shops along the way too.
(44) Tanah lot itself is very pretty .\nThere is a market there that you walk through to view the temple, interesting enough but very commercialised .\nWith 200 Chinese tourists all jostling for the best selfie with a temple , it is overcrowded and noisy.\nIf you are looking for any spiritual awakening you won't find it here.
(45) Worth a visit for the beautiful sunset. I stay at pan pacific and was able to walk from hotel to tanah lot during low tide. Less crowded on a weekday. Sunset from 6 to 630. There are some restaurants near temple for sunset viewing. Visitors not allowed to enter to worship unless accompanied by locals and in proper attire.
(46) This is a must visit place if you are in Bali. \n\nTry reaching here around an hour before sunset and reserve a table in one of the two restaurants facing the vast Indian ocean offering majestic views of the tanah lot temple and nearby geographical marvels.\n\nWalk down to the bolong and tanah lot temple vicinity with the ocean splashing and spraying all around , and as the sunset descend over the area, the place starts becoming a beautiful natural mural with the silhouette of the tanah lot and cliffs against the setting ball of red being the stuff imaginations are made of.\n\nYou can later have a relaxing dinner at the restaurants overlooking these views and also do some local paintings shopping.\n\nNote: I liked the sunset view better from the area high above overlooking the bolong cliff ( a park area created for walking, sitting, relaxing) , after enjoying the close-up view of tanah lot and bolong earlier.
(47) Tanah Lot temple must be number one in your itinerary. This is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the island of the gods. Many people come to see her at sunset time when it becomes a dark silhouette with the last sunlight around. Plan your time well if you come in the afternoon as traffic jams always occur and you probably will lost the sunset because of it. Sometimes from Nusa Dua to Tanah Lot can take 3 hours in the afternoon.\nTanah Lot is equally impressive in the morning when the crowds don;t arrive yet and you feel more peaceful ambiance. So it's up to you to come for the sunrise or sunset to Tanah Lot. Both offer awesome view to the sea temple.
(48) You have to visit the Tanah lot temple when you come to Bali, it's an amazing place & all the stalls are really cheaply priced. Such a beautiful place and it's an awesome experience.
(49) Took a day off and toured the island. Spent 1 hour at Tanah Lot. Nice waves beating the rocky coast. Walk from parking through village of tourist shops, but pretty ok tourist experience. I would recommend a visit for the views.
(50) One of the unique and beautiful temples of bali. Must visit while in bali. 👌🏽To fully explore the area you will take around 1 -1.5 hours. Do explore the area around the batu bolong temple which is also breathtaking. You will have to pay a small entrance fee to enter the tanah lot temple area.
(51) I went there only for a sunset. It was so amazing seeing a great Pura and the big ocean waves crashing into rocks. Yet, for you who can't stand the scorching sun you'd better buy a big hat along the way to the pura. There are lots of small clothing shops and foods, but the price is too expensive for local tourists. That's way you need to smartly bargain for a half price of each items sold in Tanah Lot.
(52) This is a beautiful geological rock formation that extends into the ocean on the island. In the Balinese language \Pura\" means temple and \"tanah lot\" means \"land in the sea\". I am so glad that this temple was restored. There is an entrance fee. We came at low tide, so we were able to walk down to the beach and also cross to the temple. We saw a beautiful sunset as we sat in a cafe over looking the ocean. The bats come out at night."
(53) We rented a motorbike and went to explore Tanah Lot, a Balinese Temple on the coast. It is about 40 minutes drive. I would suggest to go early to avoid the crowd, as this is one of those places that most people who visit Bali would go. This is a beautiful spot for sunset as well but decided not to because of the traffic and the crowds. If you are like us and try to have a spot to yourself as much as this is possible keep in mind that around 10am the tour buses were arriving.
(54) Tanah Lot temple has a stunning architecture and its location along the coast is breathatkingly beautiful. Although the sunset tours here are popular during low-tide, the daytime tours during high-tide are equally beautiful, with the waves crashing against the rocks and the beautiful blue hues of the sea.
(55) Tanah Lot Temple is one of Balis most important landmarks.\n\nThis is where we experienced the true Bali. Set by the sea there is a magic about this place.\n\nWe were fortunate enough to go on a lovely, hot but humid day. The tide was out and we crossed over to visit the temple. Only Hindus can climb to the top but we were blessed by monks with holy water and had crushed shells put on our foreheads \nand a flower put behind our ear.\n\nThere are many other temples here. The steps are very high for vertically challenged people like me but it is so worth going - no pain - no gain.\n\nWe also went into the cave where there is the \lucky snake\". For a small fee we could enter the cave and see it. My husband was gutsy enough to touch the snake.\n\nThere is a lovely walk along the cliff tops with magnificent views of the blow hole at Tanah Lot and a cool breeze was very welcome. The scenery was pretty spectacular,\n\nAs you walk down from the car park, there are many stallholders selling their wares.\nAs you enter or leave, there are many cafes selling cold beers, water and delicious smoothies.\n\nThis is my second time here but the first time with my husband. He can see how this place has a special place in my heart.\n\nI hope to re-visit this place again."
(56) My 3rd visit and never get bored \nAfter 1.30 hours drive from Kuta Bali, we arrived at noon after had lunch at Jimbaran Roman Cafe. \n\nVery well organized for parking and entrance tickets. Mana will approach and give the tickets after collect money. Lots of souvenirs shops along the way to see the Temple. \n\nThere are two spots of the important part to see in Tanah Lot \n\n1. The main Temple, no extra charge to enter to the top but if only taste the holy water in the ground floor cave, just initially give money to show respect. But if you like to go up to Temple and join the locals for prayers or just watch they pray, you should rent locals formal outfit. It's quite interesting. Go to the top at sunset is the most beautiful moments. \n\n2. On the left before the main Temple there's sign Holy Snake, also need to pay respect to give small money to management seating there just tell him you like to see the holy snake. \n\nI don't really know the story behind this Temple so I can't tell much.\nMost of the visitors like to come for beautiful sunset and the view of beach hmm breathtaking. Enjoy view, taking photos, having fun with the waves. \n\nMy family's enjoy shopping a lot. The price is just the same with Sukawati market, so if you were plan to come here no need to waste time to Sukawati market anyone. Because Sukawati is just a large market for Balinese garment. Need a skill to bargain. \n\nRecommended for any age and any type of travelers.
(57) Tanah Lot temple is another spot other than the Rock Bar where the sunset is so very beautiful. You see the temple , & sunset and lot of little shops to buy souvenirs from, plus places to eat of drink at
(58) This temple is located in the sea and one can go inside it only when there is no high tide. So, I would suggest to please enquire about the high tide timings before visiting Tanah Lot.\n\nThe view is just great. It is a must visit when in Bali. There is an entry charge of about 4 USD per adult. This is nothing considering the way this area is being maintained.
(59) Tanah lot no wonder attracts a lot of visitors. It's a temple dedicated to sea gods and has a great view of the sunset. We went in the evening for the sunset and by that time you can still walk up to the temple footsteps, though water is rising but it still is manageable. I guess by night and early morning it would be inaccessible. There is lines of restaurants on the cliff facing the temple. While all are equally horrible when it comes to food, but no harm in grabbing a juice and enjoy the sunset. The prices are steep due to the location. Just keep walking till the end of the restaurants till you come to the last one on the left side (for the best view). Good place for an evening, on the way back you can shop for every possible type of trinkets available for tourists :)
(60) A must visit to see the sunset with Pura Batu Bolong in the foreground, there are 2 temples here. The first is the picturesque Tanah Lot Temple, and the equally picturesque is the Batu Bolong Temple. Just make your way to the place and grab a place in the grass covered space and wither your time to see the sunset
